Remember when I said Art is Stupid?

I stand by that statement.

So I wrote a full thing for this earlier today, then deleted it by exiting the app without saving to drafts like a fucking dumbass 🙃 lmao.

Basically, from what I wrote earlier, this thing, that I probably should’ve captioned in the actual image as being a “Clothes Swap,” but I refuse to go back & fix it…

I realized two things & complained about one.

One: Anatomy is stupid.

Idk why Lykus ended up so tiny & why Al is so much bigger. I got the proportions down a bit better! And Al is way beefier than I imagined, but it works… but idk why Lykus looks TINY! Like, he’s a couple inches shorter, sure, but he just looks pocket-size & that is not what I’m going for. I will absolutely be fucking around with more body types, as I need to anyway, outside of character design…

1/2 : I need to give these dudes actual closets! Lykus came to be by a random sfx makeup / cosplay day in July of 2023, as most of my characters tend to come about, apparently…. So his fit was already designed, but he needs more variety. And while I like the blue jeans Al is wearing, I need to find more boots. He is wearing my work boots, and while he does rock them, they aren’t “Aliver,” ya know?

Blah, blah, that brings me to my second point,

2/2 : Fuckin’ marker colors!! I need more alcohol marker colors!! You would think that with more than 20 markers you’d have enough, but noooo! They aren’t like paints where you can just blend them and add water or white / black to alter values. No, dude! They come as they are, no exceptions!

Also, mildly miffed about taking the time to SWATCH all of the colors, on the SAME paper, only to have them decide to CHANGE COLOR/VALUE when USED!!!

Lykus, my beautiful Latino American boy, is NOT THAT DARK! Dude is actually hella light skin. Not as white as Aliver, but definitely not as dark as 101 turned out to be. >:/

And while I do like those blue jeans Al is wearing, I would’ve preferred his jeans’ marker to be distressed instead of having my black dried the hell out??? WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?!?!

Last complaint:

I fucking hate drawing Aliver’s flannel jacket.

It is so important to his character design & the fact that it’s flannel/plaid, but I fucking hate coloring that thing.

“Skill issue.” Yeah, yeah, fuck off… Practice ‘n’ all that…

Was between playing Message Man by TØP & Mind Electric by Miracle Musical, both Daemyn accurate. In the end, the piece felt more Message Man.

I don’t know why, but it always has been. Could’ve been anything, Mind Electric, Run And Go, Bad Bad Things… But Message Man always came out on top in terms of overall “DAEMYN” theme. *shrug*

Of course Bad Bad Things by AJJ also always reminds me of Daemyn, but in a specific scene sense, rather than his overarching storyline.

Anyway.

To explain the scene a little, character-wise, we have Men-Jen in Purple, pleading for Daemyn’s innocence. While she is entirely good-intentioned, she fails to see how “far gone” & fucked up Daemyn really is. Not to say he isn’t a good person, he’s just incredibly sick, both mentally & even more physically.

In the chair we have Bad Alter, one of Daemyn’s most persistent alters almost always fronting with him. Bad Alter, frankly undeserving of a name, and he wouldn’t choose himself anyways, is the devil on Daemyn’s shoulder. He constantly berates, belittles & pushes Daemyn to his limits. Daemyn blames him for all of the merciless killings & his ceaseless anxiety & insomnia, but the shut-eating bastard doesn’t have the balls to commit any crimes himself. He’s content taking blame & fancying himself a sort of puppet master. Bitch.

In the second version, we have pencil-drawn Daemyn screaming at Bad Alter, who has taken over as the fronting personality. He looks like a ghost for a reason, as no one else can see him. He is crazy after all.

Short Story Description:

Hanahaki - Comic Novel about a young man’s fast decent into madness, illness, and inevitable death. (Another story I’ve had since middle school, and one I’ve recently picked up again!)

It’s a story about a mentally ill lunatic. He’s terrified to live & even more petrified by the thought of death. He’s stuck between living & dying. Pummeled by anxiety attacks, never catching a damn break. He fights with his worst enemy & most persistent alter “Bad Alter,” who wants nothing more than to make Daemyn’s life a living Hell, encouraging him to end it all, but Daemyn can’t.

Eventually he meets a friend, Jennifer, whose name sounds like the name of the girl who shattered his heart a few weeks prior, & constantly calls her Menefer instead.

He meets & loses people on his journey until he’s alone & dying with himself.

A conversation between selves, really.

I have been drawing too many of these men in t-shirts & jeans, which, yes, IS essentially the costume for every man, however! He /actually/ does have a closet. I’ve been drawing him in a t-shirt & jeans because he wouldn’t wear all of his layers all the time, but for practice & character design purposes, I can spice things up a bit. 😏

I also came to the conclusion that Graham is a massive weeb! 🤣🤣 So, plenty there I can fuck around with.

I don’t fuck with Katie’s design in this & it has made me realize… I don’t know what the fuck she would wear, or what her body type looks like… MUST FIX!

Then Evander, my dirty, disgusting, god-please-take-a-shower-you-smell-worse-than-Daemyn boy. He wears SWEATS! A filthy stained t & slightly less disgusting grey sweat pants.

But a muggy morning in Maine causes mischief as Graham hits potholes after potholes & loses visibility to the poor conditioned road outside. When he comes to, there is a gentleman taking care of him in his living room. Little does Graham know that this gentleman, by the foreign name of Aurelius, is trying to decide whether to eat this handsome stranger, or to get to know him.
