Tbh i hate bright sunny days. Im very sinsitive to the sun; i dont just burn stupidly easy, i rash up and blister. Get such severe migranes im vomiting. Honestly i struggle to even see sometimes its pretty much a white void
Its gross
But cloudy and overcast, slightly stormy. That. Thats the best.
And hades/hecate are my patrons! I work with alot of the gods in the underworld so id say this checks out
Isn't it interesting? That all of us who are somehow connected with the underworld, or any of it citizen's - love gloomy, cloudy weather?.
We have this melancholy aura, always wondering or dreaming. Most people live to walk in the park when the day is sunny and the sun shines bright in the sky, but I feel most at home when it's raining, when mist cover the horizon and I can't see the trees anymore, when it's could and cloudy is when I want to stay in the garden reading or writing or just thinking; when the weather looks like this is when I feel most at home. There is no sound, just the trees swaying in the breeze, it's so peaceful. And beautiful, there is a very special kind of beauty in days like this.

I love Hades so much. I know I call him Father Hades and that he’s taken a paternal role in my life but sometimes it really just hits me how caring he’s been 😭 today he was like ‘do your meditation first then we’ll do some reading together. oh and be sure to wear my prayer beads so they’ll comfort you” I get anxious at home and his necklace feels so protective which is why he made me wear them. he’s such a father. he knows best honestly, if he knows you need to do something he will get you to do it. He’s the stricter one with me haha but in a gentle way? anyways
Praise Father Hades! 🖤

Introduction to The Underworld as Understood in Ancient Hellas
Working with Thanatos has given me time and insight into studying more about the Underworld. I have come to truly respect it, far more than I may fear it. The journey to the Underworld is not as simple as one may think. The Underworld actually has quite a delicate and sophisticated architecture. To begin, the spirits of the deceased must enter the Underworld through one of five surrounding rivers.
Acheron (Αχέρων): The river of woe. This is the river that the ferryman of the dead was paid to guide spirits across in the transition.
Kocytus (Κωκυτός): The river of lamentation. Those who could not pay the ferryman were destined to walk the banks of this river - a side river to the river Acheron - for one hundred years.
Phlegethon (Φλεγέθων): The river of fire. It’s a side river of the river Styx and is said to be permanently on fire, yet never burn anything it touches.
Lethe (Λήθη) - The river of forgetfulness. The dead have to drink from it to completely forget about their lives on Earth.
Styx (Στύξ) - The river of hate. The Styx joins with the Acheron at the exact juncture where the land of the living makes way for the Underword, and as such, it is a portal, and the most famous of the five rivers. The Styx is said to wrap around the Underworld nine times. The Styx was also the river upon which deities and mankind swore oaths which could not be broken. If one did break an oath made upon the river Styx, they were forced to drink from the river, upon which they lost their voice for an extended period of time.
Within the Underworld, there are various areas where the dead are actually housed (they don’t just wander aimlessly), but also where all the various deities of the Underworld - called “Theoi Khthonioi” - often resided. Immortals and the Moirai, deamons and nymphs…even some of the older Titans are all settled here as well.
Technically, there are three main parts to the Underworld.
Tartaros (Τάρταρος): where those who were punished for all eternity remained. The River Phlegethon is located here.
Asphodel Meadows (δομος Αιδαο): where everyone who had lived a good life wandered about. The River Lethe runs through here.
Elysian Fields (Πεδιον Ηλυσιον): where the children of deities, the blessed dead, and those who had lead extraordinarily honorable, brave or otherwise well-respected lives (such as heroes) resided. The Isles of the Blessed were also located here. It is said that when you achieved Elysium, you had a choice to either stay in Elysium, or to be reborn. If you were reborn three times and achieved Elysium all three times through those lives, then you were sent to the Isles of the Blessed and achieved eternal paradise.
Most importantly, we must remember that the Underworld was a neutral place. That is, this was not necessarily a place of punishment. This was not someplace to be feared. It was simply another space, another dimension of being. Surely, one did not desire to go there in the least, but it was a part of the cycle of life. In fact, most of the afterlife was considered quite dull and sunless, tasteless. But it was not a torment. By far the worst part about it is being without the touch of your loved ones, and occasionally forgetting who you had been in your life.

Persephone Epithets
Azesia- “of the Dried Fruits” and/or “Who Seeks”. The epithet is shared with her mother, Demeter. It is possible the double meaning is intended to link them while referring to their separate aspects.
Brimo- “the Angry” or “the Terrifying”. An alternative interpretation places the meaning as “of the Crackling Fire.” This epithet was most commonly shared by Persephone, Demeter, Hekate, and Cybele. However, many Goddesses are known to be called by this name. The interpretation of “the Crackling Fire” refers to Hekate bearing the torches during the initial search for Persephone.
Carpophorus- “Bringer of Fruit”. This epithet was specific to Persephone in the role of Kore. She shared it with Demeter. This was a common epithet used at their temple in Tegea.
Chthonia- “of the Earth” or “Subterranean”. This is an epithet common to any deity who journeys to the Underworld. Notably, it is shared by Hades, Persephone, Demeter, Hekate, Hermes, and Dionysus.
Daeira- “Knowing One”. Demeter’s and Persephone’s Mystery traditions were one of the first and most well-known. Persephone comprehended the mysteries of living and death. She knew the mechanisms of the Earth.
Deione- “Daughter of Demeter”.
Despoena- “The Ruling Goddess” or “The Mistress.” This epithet is shared by Persephone, Demeter, and Aphrodite.
Eleusina- “of Eleusis”. This epithet is shared by Persephone and Demeter. The main area of their worship was the town of Eleusis in Attica.
Epaine- “the Fearful”. It is not that Persephone herself was afraid, but her worshipers praised her because of how they feared her.
Hagne- “Pure” or “Holy One”.
Hercyna- “of the Stone Enclosure”. This is a poorly understood epithet. In my opinion, it refers to her domain in the Underworld.
Kore- “The Maiden”. This is an alternate name for Persephone and was her original name before joining Hades in the Underworld. It can be used for her at any time.
Leptynis- There is no solid interpretation of this epithet. Leptins were small Greek coins used in ancient times, so I often think this means “of the Coins.” This would work because her husband was Hades, Lord of Riches and coins were used as payment to enter the Underworld.
Megala Thea- “Great Goddess”.
Melitodes- “Sweet as Honey”. Persephone, as seen above, was considered to be a terrifying Goddess. This epithet was used as a way of invoking her softly, with compliments.
Praxidike- “Bringer of Justice”.
Protogone- “First Born”. This is another poorly understood epithet. I interpret it as a nod to Persephone as Demeter’s first-born child. (Zeus had many Goddesses he considered to be his Queen. Demeter was one of them, and Persephone is often considered to be their child from this time.)
Soteira- “Savior”. An epithet shared by many Goddesses including Artemis, Persephone, Athena, and Eunomia. In Laconia and Arcadia, this was commonly used by worshipers of Persephone. A similar epithet is shared by Hades and Dionysus, as well as many other Gods.
(Source: theoi.com- Titles of Demeter & Kore: Ancient Greek Religion)
I hope this is a helpful list for anyone interested in worshiping Persephone. These are her main epithets. I took out alternate spellings and epithets which had the same meanings but were less widely known than the ones shown here. If you are interested in ideas on when to use these epithets or inspiration based on them, shoot me an ask!

I hate how little respect non-pagans have for pagan gods, especially in internet fandoms. I will admit that I was once a part of the Percy Jackson fandom but the way people portrayed and discussed characters based directly off of gods that I worship really irked me. Now I can't even look up deities without seeing some 14 year old say that they're pegging?? What the fuck is wrong with you people?
#or the way christian scholars talk when they write about other religions#yes we know you think your religion is supeiror#but that doesnt give you a right to be so disrespectful or dismissive#also the hades book i found was straight up incorrect in alot of places and straight up thanatos erasure#Abolish the Abhramic Religions!

Reblog if you love Haides!
So I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately of Hellenic polytheist books. And basically, most of them say how Haides isn’t to be worshipped outside of respecting him and honoring the dead. Many are superstitious even still that inviting Haides into your life in any way will bring death into it, which I find ridiculous. He is not a god of death; he is the god of THE dead. He is the one who takes care of our loved ones when they pass on; it is he who makes sure they are at peace.
Shortly after I started down the Hellenic path, I had a terrible night where I was in need of help. I don’t want to get too personal, but just to say that Haides saved me. Without me asking, he just did it. And he has taught me so much already about the preciousness of life and mortality, and he’s taught me to notice the small beautiful things in life and to be grateful for those things.
If you love Haides as well, reblog to show him the love he deserves!

“Dread Queen”: Hymn to Persephone
Iron in her blood, steel in her gaze She is the dread queen, Brandishing her strength in will, strength of heart. She who punishes those who have committed injustices, Defends those who have been wronged. Heavy is her crown but she wears it with her head held high For all of fiery autumn and savage winter.
She looks upon the lost souls with honeyed compassion. For the ones that stretch their arms out to her, She lends her warm hand, She lends her warmth to their aching loneliness With a smile that shines bright as the sun from the solemn palace of the underworld.
She sits by her king, Equals in every way, Crystals and gems of all kinds decorating their attire Fearsome they may be, But with hearts of the brightest gold.
