There is a greatness in the names of deities that, when uttered from my lips, fills me with a momentary sense of awe. A quiet and unspoken power that lies within them.
·° ★ *·
Hestia. A humble energy that is both the First and Last of all the deathless Olympians. A welcome comfort in times of trial that brings with her the love of a sheltering home. A soothing warmth that can be found without the presence of a kindled fire, for her arms are open to all and to all she provides an internal flame.
Zeus. An unmatched power that shakes the skies and brings the most indomitable beasts to their knees. A hardy will that bends the sturdy hands of the fates and dishes out blessings and curses in equal measure. A mighty presence that cannot be overshadowed nor overcome by any other, though it is a brief encounter when the name is merely spoken.
Hera. An elegant strength that is carried with the grace of a lioness, royal in nature with a silent yet undeniable authority. A razor-sharp gaze that can cut through the hardiest of stone and pierce the heart of any person who dares to question her rule. A confident presence that knows when to show compassion and when to assert one's power, certain of her worth and limits.
Poseidon. An earthshaking presence that commands the respect of those brave enough to traverse the crashing waves. A nurturing caretaker who oversees the health and wellness of every underwater denizen. A flowing energy that rolls in and out, rising and falling, ever-changing as the tides of life itself.
Demeter. An ever-caring mother of the very land we tread upon, the soil that squeezes between our toes. An unyielding mountain of power that provides for every manner of creature that roams the earth. An ever-changing force with the variability of the very seasons themselves that plants the seed of transformation within every person she encounters, simply by her nature.
Haides. The gentle yet sturdy ruler - the king who rules us all, in the end. The certainty of an ending paired with the uncertainty of the details. The warmth of burying your feet beneath the earth and watching plants grow over them. The curiosity of change in all its forms, and the subtle comfort that comes with its acceptance.

Haides's Blessing Deity Oil
"HAIDES (Hades) was the king of the underworld and god of the dead. He presided over funeral rites and defended the right of the dead to due burial. Haides was also the god of the hidden wealth of the earth, from the fertile soil with nourished the seed-grain to the mined wealth of gold, silver and other metals." - Theoi
I work with King Haides to let go of negative attachments, ancestor work, and financial matters. He's newer to my practice, I honour Queen Persephone with a candle beside him. He loves having his wife near him, especially since spring is on its way.
He's firm in his teachings. Honest but can be gentle. Will make you face your inner self and problems head-on.
I made an oil for him to call upon him. I use it to carry him with me, to wear for certain purposes and as a candle-dressing. It helps me with spirit communication, drawing prosperity and protects my heart space when placed on my chest.
You will need
A clean and cleansed jar
Peppermint - Prosperity, connections to the underworld
Cypress - Connections to death, protection, grief
Allspice - Prosperity, inner healing
Clove - Psychic Shielding, prosperity, personal growth
You can either do the folk method or the hot method. You can find my post on infused oils here to learn how to make infused spell oils. I suggest if you are an animist or someone who wants more power from your oils. Speak to the herbs kindly, treat them less like an ingredient and ask them respectfully for their aid and the purpose they'll have in your oil. Use intention. The same goes for the Olive oil.
You can sub any of these, however, Cypress and Mint are historical for him. Along with Olive oil. Try to keep within the theme of the underworld, death, spiritual connection, prosperity, introspection and protection.
Blessings!

Ignore the mask filter, I don't like showing my full face, but this is the current fit, I'm out in public, and I've never worn a headcover like this in public.
I'm super nervous, but I saw one of my buddies, and he immediately cracked a joke to make me feel better. (I'm a Star Wars fan, and he called me darth sidious lol)
But yea, I'm officially veiling in a way closer to what I want outside of work :)

About King Hades (Haides)
Haides is the god of the dead and King of the Underworld. Even if He rules over the dead he is not death itself, that would be Thanatos as he is the god of non-violent death or gentle death. King Haides also presides over funeral rites and defends the right of the dead to due burial. Because of that and He’s connotations the the earth, he is also considered as the god of the hidden wealth of the earth, from the fertile soil with nourished the seed-grain, to the mined wealth of gold, silver and other metals.
King Haides is the son of Kronos, god of time and the King of the Titanes and Rhea, the Titaness mother of the gods and goddess of female fertility, motherhood and generation*. In the myths, Haides desired a bride and when He asked one to King Zeus, He offered Persephone to Him.
Symbols and Correspondences:
- Main symbol: Royal sceptre, cornucopia, keys, Kerberos
- Sacred plants/trees: Asphodel, mint, white poplar, cypress
- Colours: Black, maroon colours, white, earth colours (mostly greens and browns)
- Animals: Dogs, Screech-owl
- Crystals: Black tourmaline, black onyx, black obsidian, jade
Devotional acts:
Offerings ideas: flowers or herbs associated with him, skulls, pomegranate, art of Himself and things He’s associated with, candles, feathers, crystals, incenses (myrrh, franckincens, mint), milk, honey, red wine, black coffee.
Devotional acts: visit graveyards, honour the dead, meditate with Him, read His myths, write Him letters or notes, sing, dance, take walks on nature, appreciate the changes that the seasons bring us, wear jewellery on His honor, honouring Persephone.
Recommended readings for a better understanding:
- Hesiod, Theogony. It describes the entire cosmology and creation of the gods, including the birth of Haides.
- Homeric hymn to Demeter. It describes the rape of Persephone. It’s probably one of His most known episodes. It also describes the division of the cosmos between Haides, Zeus and Poseidon.
- Plato, Gorgias. Specifically 523a as it also describes the appointment of the judges of the dead and the division of the cosmos.
- Plato, Republic. Specifically 10.614–10.621 as it explains the myth of Er. This myth describes the path of the dead in the afterlife.

The Worship of Haides in Ancient Greece
In ancient Greek religion and mythology, Haides was the god of the underworld - the realm of the dead. As the ruler of this grim domain, Haides was an important but often feared deity in the Greek pantheon.
Despite his formidable role, Haides did not receive the same level of widespread public worship as some of the other Olympian gods like Zeus or Poseidon. Haides was seen as a remote and somber figure, best left undisturbed in his realm beneath the earth.
However, Haides did have some specific rituals and practices associated with his cult:
Sacrifices and offerings: Worshippers would make offerings of black animals, such as black sheep or bulls, to honor Haides. These were often buried or burned as a way to communicate with the underworld.
Funerary rites: Haides presided over funeral and burial practices. Ancient Greeks would make offerings to Hades during the burial of the dead to ensure safe passage to the afterlife.
Chthonic rituals: Some mystery cults and oracles, such as the Oracle of the Dead at Ephyra, conducted secretive rites and rituals intended to communicate with Haides and the underworld. These were seen as dark and dangerous practices.
Oaths and curses: Haides was sometimes invoked when swearing solemn oaths, as the god who would punish any breaches of such vows. His name was also called upon in curses and maledictions.
While not as prominent as some of the more beloved Olympian gods, Hades maintained an important place in the religious life and imagination of the ancient Greeks through these specialized rituals and beliefs surrounding the world of the dead.
The significance of the Eleusinian Mysteries related to Haides
The Eleusinian Mysteries were one of the most important religious rituals in ancient Greece, and they were closely tied to the worship of Haides and the underworld.
The Eleusinian Mysteries were a series of annual initiation ceremonies held at Eleusis, a small town just outside of Athens. The mysteries centered around the myth of Persephone, the daughter of the goddess Demeter, who was abducted by Haides and taken to the underworld to become his queen.
The ceremonies aimed to teach initiates about the cycle of life, death, and rebirth, and to provide them with a promise of a favorable afterlife in the realm of Haides. The specific rituals and teachings of the mysteries were kept strictly secret, known only to those who had been initiated.
However, we do know that the ceremonies involved a procession from Athens to Eleusis, where participants would enact the myth of Persephone's descent and return. This likely included symbolic representations of the underworld and the meeting between Persephone, Demeter, and Haides.
The Eleusinian Mysteries were seen as a way for initiates to gain the favor and protection of Haides, ensuring they would be welcomed into the underworld after death. Participating in the mysteries was highly valued, as it was believed to bring blessings, good fortune, and a meaningful afterlife.
The central role of Haides and the underworld in these important religious rites highlights the complex and multi-faceted nature of his worship in ancient Greece. The Mysteries demonstrate how he was revered not just as a remote, fearsome figure, but also as a powerful deity who could grant favor and a blessed afterlife to his devoted worshippers.

Part Two to this!
PUPPETEER: KIRKE (Κιρκη) is the daughter of the sun god HELIOS (Ἡλιος) and his wife PERSEIS (Περσηις). Besides the Odyssey, Hesiod mentions that Kirke settled on the isle of Aiaia after arriving on her father's chariot, while Apollonius says she reluctantly assisted in clensing the Argonauts and her niece MEDEA (Μήδεια) after they had killed and dismembered her nephew ABSYRTOS ( Ἄψυρτος) while escaping with the Golden Fleece.
And while we're at it, some of you guys are gonna be so mad at Jay for this, but Polites would've actually still been alive at this point in the story. In fact, it's his only mention in the entire Odyssey.
Then Polites, my most devoted and most loyal man, a leader to his peers, said, ‘Friends, inside someone is weaving on that massive loom, and singing so the floor resounds. Perhaps a woman, or a goddess. Let us call her.’
WOULDN'T YOU LIKE: Hermes, as mentioned before, is Odysseus' great-grandfather on his mother's side, with the Odyssey mentioning he came to his descendant in the form of an adolescent boy. Being the god of thieves, a few of his other kin besides Odysseus were tricksters as well; most notably, his son MYRTILOS (Μυρτίλος) helped PELOPS (ΠΈΛΟΨ) cheat his way into winning the hand of Princess HIPPODAMIA (Ἱπποδάμεια). Myrtilos claimed that in exchange for his assistance, Pelops would let him seduce his new bride, but when Hippodamia rejected him, Pelops cast him into the sea. Enraged, Myrtilos then cursed him and his entire bloodline, from which Agamemnon and Menelaos are descended from.
MOLY, like many plants in mythology, has no specific correspondence, though Homer describes it as having black roots and white flowers.
DONE FOR and THERE ARE OTHER WAYS: Because one immediately leads into the other more than the other songs do, I thought I'd cover these two in one go.
So in the Odyssey, after Odysseus goes to confront Kirke, the goddess is so impressed by him that she immediately invites him to her bed. Odysseus refuses, unless she swears to turn his men back to normal. Afterwards, he's tended to her by her nymphs and is invited to dine with her, but Odysseus is still uncomfortable, until she at last upholds her word and then instructs Odysseus to drag his ship to land and place all the stores and gear inside the island's caves. As for his crew, the reunion is described thusly:
I found my loyal men beside the ship, weeping and shedding floods of tears. As when a herd of cows is coming back from pasture into the yard; and all the little heifers jump from their pens to skip and run towards their mothers, and they cluster round them, mooing; just so my men, as soon as they saw me, began to weep, and in their minds it seemed as if they had arrived in their own home, the land of rugged Ithaca, where they were born and raised.
Eurulokhos is the only one who doesn't trust Kirke to treat them kindly after all she's done, but his worries are quickly proven false, for she plays host from then on, allowing them to stay and rest for one year. Kirke then instructs Odysseus to go down to the Underworld, to the house of Lord HAIDES (Ἁιδης) and dreadful PERSEPHONE (Περσεφονη), and seek out the prophet known as TIRESIAS (Τειρεσίας).
As for the "I have been in love once before" line, this is likely in reference to a minor sea god called GLAUKOS (Γλαυκος). According to the Romans Pseudo-Hyginus and Ovid, Circe had fallen in love with him, but her feelings went unrequited, as his affection was for the nymph SCYLLA, who'd spurned him. Glaucus then asked Circe to help him, but she, overcome with jealousy, instead poisoned the water where Scylla bathed upon rejection and transformed her into a monster.

Edo for the ask meme!
and also Cecil ;u;
WAIT i only notice now it's "yu-gi-oh characters" i am a fool i am clown but oh well i'll make it work.
So for Edo:
Why I like them/why I don’t: I mean like you know kind of a blorbo by proxy. I think he has this very fun balance of deeply normal AND kind of unhinged. Of very secretive and distant and in deep need of helping and talking to people. Need to control and be guided. But also that's what being a teenager with parental issues does to a guy I can't blame him.
What I like about their appearance: so i kind of love how his hair fits on his haid it's something I really try to replicate like it's this feeling of... technically it IS short but also it's just a bit long. It just falls a bit all over him. Yeah idk how to explain but I love attempting to draw it.
Do I prefer their dub names or original names? so yeah never watched the dub beside specific eps and clips so I'm a chronical sub names user BUT Aster is so cute and fits him so well imo. Actually I probably should use Ed because it's likely what his names is supposed to be but idk i'm used to a spelling and pronunciation and it's really hard for me to switch.
OTP: yeah so like destinyshipping yeah yeah. Made a thousand art and fics and AUs and stories what am I supposed to say. They hit the perfect balance of terminally sad and messy AND very cute and hopeful. Also i do like heroshipping and whatever edo/manjoume is called but i admit i have a hard time being strongly invested in something of GX that is not saiou.
NOTP: Never really saw a ship that I disliked heavily so I'm not going to make myself think of one.
OT3: I have been so sooo many thoughts about edo/saiou/judai combination situationship lately. Listen. Edo having his silly childhood crush and his silly teenage crush on two people (he's actually painfully in love but shh). One clearly has no interest in romantic relationship or is overall very distant with it and the other spends half the time disappearing from public circulation to go deal with supernatural creature. Then eventually he realize that they 1/ spend a lot of time together 2/ are much MUCH closer than he thought 3/ may or may not have something going on between them. But also the entire point is that. Yeah. Neither Saiou nor Judai really are into anything like a "romantic relationship" and function fairly well together because of that but also if Edo just TALKS TO THEM ABOUT IT maybe he can not feel left out all the time. Things like that. I hope someday I can write them but it'll be long and messy.
Favourite card they use: D-time because at some point we tried recreating it with my friend on some tea biscuits with sugar and all and it was fun.
Favourite moment they were in: IMAGINE HOLDING SAIOU'S HAND WOW I WISH THAT WERE ME THAT SO UNFAIR COME OOON no also the whole scene is one of my fav ygo moment ever.
Least favourite moment: uuh i guess i was not quite impressed by the amon mini-arc with echo and everything? But also beside a dozen ep season 3 didn't amaze me the most so it's not on him.
And for apparently the new exclusive yugioh character Cecil Harvey (actually he'd make for a really fun ygo protag. I have that AU somewhere)
Why I like them/why I don’t: Cecil feel like a very classic jrpg protagonist from afar like yeah he's very kind and devoted but has to prove himself after having been driven to do bad things... But also... I think he's very unique in how that kindness and devotion is portrayed. In the average story it'd be about how sad it is for him that he keeps sacrificing himself for others and carry such a burden and so and so... But not in FFIV. In this game his kindness is a burden for others. His devotion, his sense of sacrifice, make other people have to take care of him. His sensibility means his emotions are always the most important thing, and it's so rare for stories to take that angle instead of making the protagonist's emotion well... the most important thing. It makes him a very subtle character, both deeply positive and good but also almost destructive to people around him under the wrong circumpstances.
What I like about their appearance: he is SO pretty, squenix just don't make beautiful men like this anymore. His hair looks so soft and airy, the little jewels and decoration and make up is so cute, and i love how he looks like he glows in the dark. I will say I especially love the fact that Amano's artwork, the pixel art, the remake, dissidia, and all the different re-design he has means Cecil's look is less a defined set of rules and more a direction, certain choices, specific artistic takes. It's less about accurate reproduction and more capturing his essence. It's very liberating to draw.
OTP : ot3 is below but know i'm a baron trio truther and it's above anything else. Cecil/rosa is cute on it's own but I think it lacks a little drama and spice. Cecil/Kain feels a little bit more fun to play with on its own but it's never really just that sole ship to me. Also actually let me call this "favorite relationship" or something and say Cecil and Golbez are the reason I got into FF and their dynamic is the most beautiful thing, so full of pain and love and everything.
NOTP : He doens't have many popular ship so like. None I can think of.
OT3 : BARON TRIO BARON TRIO BARON TRIO these 3 idiots love each other so much in such different way and their relationship becomes sooo interesting and also so gentle when they're all together. And I love how it's frankly very supported by canon? In the DS version whenever 2 are reunited they will think of where is the other and want them here. In DFFOO all Cecil want is to have BOTH of them with him. In WoFF they repeat a scene from ffiv but Kain is sick, Cecil is looking for a cure and Rosa is watching over him. They're just fated to always need all of each other.
Favourite moment they were in: Uuuh practically every scene with Golbez? Calling him "brother" for the first time when they're about to die, and again when they're about to be separated. When he's lost to darkness in TAY but hears his brother calling him so he doesn't disappear. When he tells him he's guiding light in Dissidia. They're so full of love.
Least favourite moment : I guess like most iv fan, when he tells Rosa and Rydia to stay out of the final battle. They kind fo justify it because the 3 guys have very personnal reason to want revenge/answers so Cecil doesn't just think women shouldn't fight but. it does show how this game still can't give female characters as much emotional intensity as the male characters.
Would I fuck, marry or kill them: chosing the fourth secret option where i marry his brother because i so SO want Cecil and Rosa as in-laws.

La Culta de Le Sirene: Siren Veneration in Ancient Naples
I’ve been wanting to talk about this for a really long time, since Siren veneration has become really important to my revivalism both as a Hellenic Polytheist and Italian Folk Practicioner. So without further ado, here’s a little bit about the Ancient Siren Cult + some UPG just for funsies ☺️
Who are the Sirens?
While many people today see Sirens as synonymous with mermaids, the ancient Greeks actually viewed them as half woman half bird creatures who personified both the beauty and treachery travelers face at sea or in the mountains. While their mythical origins vary, they were commonly attributed to be the daughters of the Muse Melpomene (the Muse of Tragedy) and the River Achelous.
In one variation, they were handmaidens of Persephone, who fled when she was abducted by Haides. Demeter, angry that they didn’t aid in the search for her daughter, cursed them to take their half bird form and that they should have to live out their days luring men to their deaths until a man should pass by unaffected by their song and they would be forced to drown themselves in the sea.
Later depictions of sirens throughout the centuries would morph into the mermaid image most people are familiar with, especially after Rome took over. They went from the classic bird-woman image, to a woman riding two seahorses, then eventually emerging in the 7th century as the double-tailed mermaid you might be familiar with if you’ve ever passed by a Starbucks.
Veneration in Ancient Naples
Before Naples was renamed, it was once called Parthenopolis, named after the siren Parthenope, one of the sirens who tries to lure Odysseus and his crew to their deaths. Upon failing to do so, the Sirens drowned themselves in the sea, but Parthenope’s body was said to have washed up on the shores of Naples, where a temple was built in her honor in what is now Sorrento.
From then on, she was considered to be the mother and protectress of the city of Parthenopolis, held in such high regard that being Neopolitan was considered synonymous with being a “child of Parthenope.” Not much is known about the specifics of the Siren cult, but we do know that the Oracle had decreed for an annual torch race to be held in honor of her.
Through the centuries, the image of the Siren remained integral to the cultural identity of Naples, even being used as a symbol to ward off il malocchio (the evil eye). To this day the image of the Siren or mermaid is considered a symbol of abundance.
✨UPG! ✨
Parthenope appears to me in both mermaid and bird-woman form, depending on the mood. She is fiercely protective and takes her motherly aspect very seriously. That being said, she also has a devious side and won’t hesitate to stir the pot a little if she thinks it will get her point across. She is excellent at helping to foster self-expression and authenticity, and likes to help with protection, glamour magick, and shadow work.
Offerings/Devotional Activities she likes include:
• Music! Especially singing, but playing an instrument or making a devotional playlist make great offerings too! (She’s a big Florence and the Machine fan, in my experience)
• Poetry, Art, or any other creative endeavor.
• Feathers
• Seashells
• Driftwood
• Cool Rocks
• Rose Quartz
• Ocean Jasper
• Sea Salt
• Tea
• Self Care Routines
• Journaling
• Anything really, as long as it’s thoughtfully given💕

I was curious on how quickly all of this stuff seemed to unfold for you?
Hermes and I made friends about 2-2.5 months ago, since then, Persephone has come forward (although she took me a little while to identify), and now Apollon seems to be showing me signs as well. All in just a few months. I’m a little worried about not having the time to keep up a quality worship for so many, as polytheism is very new to me as well. Do you have any recommendations on how to balance it all?
Do they tend to be pretty understanding? I don’t want to accidentally neglect any of them.
ok honestly this was pretty hard to answer because it involves a lot of things i also struggle with! so rant time
things did unfold quickly for me. a few years ago, once i started looking into magic and witchcraft, i quickly came in contact with polytheism, and started to look into deity work. then i kind of left the witchcraft part aside and tried to focus on practicing polytheism, and each time i looked into my worship i grew interested in more and more deities and other beings, and i would try and add them to my practice.
i wont go too much into detail because it has a lot to do with my mental health, but suffice to say im really not good at consistency. that would be my best tip: if you can, just be consistent with your worship. its a cliche, but its true and its something thats been signaled to me by the deities i [used to] worship many times - doing something very small every other day is better than doing big stuff and then vanishing for weeks. thats the best thing you can try to keep up in terms of quality when you're starting, i think. don't worry about setting aside too much time to do things, there's absolutely no problem if you can't do big things right off the bat!
another thing is: yes, they're very understanding. they know what you're struggling with, and if it helps, you can always talk to them / pray about it! and you can also get directly involved with the ""gentler"" aspects of the deities you're interested in. but don't forget, they might push you, and they might show that they're upset in some context, and that doesn't mean they don't understand what you're going through. they truly want the best for you, and sometimes getting to that is a hard journey, but they're by your side
there are deities that i've been meaning to actually worship for literal years now but i just can't stay consistent with my offerings and prayer, like Haides for example, and he's always been understanding as long as i talked to him and tried my best to set aside some time to at least think about my worship. i don't consider myself a worshipper of him or many of the deities i used to reach out to because of this time management / consistency / iniciative problem. i know the gods are always out there for me, and i eventually do pray and give thanks or the occasional offering, but i know im not ready to incorporate a lot of deities to my worship (specifically, at least). another thing that helped is that im very religiously eclectic, so "hellenic polytheistic" is not the only thing that describes it, as the orthopractic approach alone tends to make me very anxious. so i let myself be very free with the way i relate to the religion and with my practices, and it's something i talk about with the deities im in touch with.
also, its never a problem to adapt your practice to what's easier and best for you! when i first started getting into polytheistic devotion, i tried to take activities that were already a part of my life and routine and thought of what could "fit" with the deities i worshipped. going for a run? say a quick prayer to hermes before and/or afterwards! going to the beach? meditate and pray to poseidon! it's raining outside? give thanks to zeus! all of this made me feel way more connected to the gods, because i truly saw them in every part of my life.
i hope this helps, and i wish you all the luck Hermes can bring! just be sure to be kind to yourself, and try to stay honest with you and with them. im here if you want to talk about it too!!
everything will work out great, even if its not the way you think 💛

I plan to start veiling for some of the goddesses I worship/ am (soon to be) devoted to, and I find it very amusing because it's Hera, Aphrodite, Persephone, and then her husband Haides.
So it's the ladies and the haides, lol.
Just sounds funny when I say it in my head.
I plan on getting a tattoo for Persephone and haides to show my devotion and a ritual before I consider myself an official devote. As like a grand show of devotion, but I feel like they already get special treatment lol.
They have the biggest area of my alter and are the first of the gods I started to worship, so they are very important to me. And dedicating veiling to them feels like a good first step in the devotion process.
Also I feel like ive had more of a connection with hera and aphrodite recently and want to work more with them and goddesses in general.
I've worked more with some of the gods and want to work with some ladies/goddesses right now. i I think veiling for Hera and Aphrodite feels like the right direction to go worship wise.

Hello, my name is Auroria and I'm nearly 30.
I am a multi-faith mainly Hellenic Priestess devoted to the Theoi, but more specifically and intimately devoted to Hermes, Apollon, Eros, Dionysus, Haides, Artemis, and Zeus & Hera. I also am a devotee of Aphrodite + Ares + Hephaestus.
Non-Hellenic deities I worship and love are: Loki, Asmodeus, Lucifer, Abaddon, Freyr & Freyja, Fenrir, Leviathan, and The Archangels.
I work with an Unrecorded pantheon called The Undying, so you will also see me posting about them.
