Mobile Number Portability To Become Faster
New Delhi, Sep 8: Although the facility to change mobile network provider while retaining the number is available since 2011, getting it done remained a hassle. It used to take around a week to 15 days and multiple visits to cellphone service provider's outlets to get it done. But, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has decided to quicken the entire Mobile Number Portability (MNP) process. TRAI is looking to speed up the process time for mobile operator change to two working days for a better end-user experience. TRAI has issued a consultation paper in April to review guidelines on number portability which will ensure a hassle-free experience for consumers who wish to port from one network to another.
The regulator aims to entirely automate this process to ensure a smooth porting experience for users. If all the conditions are met with, the process request time could be 48 hours. There are, however, certain pre-conditions. The existing connection must be active for at least 90 days and at the time of porting, all the previous bills should be clear.
Mobile Number Portability:
MNP enables mobile telephone users to retain their mobile telephone numbers when changing from one mobile network carrier to another. Mobile number portability is implemented in different ways across the globe. The International and European standard is for a customer wishing to port his/her number to contact the new network (recipient), which then sends the number portability request (NPR) to the current network (donor). This is known as "recipient-led" porting. The UK and India are the only exceptions to implement the donor-led system.
The customer wishing to port his/her number is required to contact the donor to obtain a code (Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) in the UK and Unique Porting Code (UPC) in India) which is then given to the recipient network. The recipient continues the porting process by contacting the donor with a porting code. This form of porting is known as "donor-led" and has been criticised by some industry analysts as being inefficient, though it prevents MNP scams. It has also been observed that it may act as a customer deterrent as well as allowing the donor an opportunity of "winning back" the customer. Section 377 – All You Need To Know About It
On Thursday, the 6th of September, 2018; India emerged victorious, witnessing a historic judgment. The Supreme Court made a historic verdict, decriminalising Section 377, stating that it was ‘irrational, manifestly, indefensible and arbitrary’. As the LGBT community was caught in euphoria and filled with pride throughout the country, it can be argued that the recognition of sexual rights of the LGBTQ community is in fact, just the beginning of the process for full enjoyment of all constitutional rights like any other citizen. The abolition not only promotes equality and puts a stop to discrimination, but also affirms that the practice of unnatural appearing activities is not a mental disorder, rather something innate to a human being. With the verdict, the whole country rejoiced as finally, justice was served, discrimination ended, love emerged victoriously and all human beings were recognised as equal.
What does the Section 377 define?
The Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code criminalised ‘unnatural’ consensual private sexual acts between legal adults. The section defines that “whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine.” While the well-framed sentence might not appear to be barbaric, what it conforms surely is. The section actually criminalises a group of people for being a sexual minority, denying them the right to sexual orientation, sexuality, and choice of partner. The provision declares all sexual acts that are against the order of nature, even consensual homosexual and heterosexual acts, a crime in the eyes of law. The dreaded section isn’t limited to homosexual acts only. It criminalises all unnatural sexual practices including oral and anal sex.
A Brief Timeline of the Struggle
The 150 years old ban on homosexuality came into force in 1862. After years of struggle and agitation, a legal victory was achieved in 2009 when the HC decriminalised homosexuality. However, this order was overturned by the SC in 2013 claiming that the HC verdict was ‘legally unsustainable’. However, in 2015, Member of the Parliament, Shashi Tharoor, introduced a private bill to decriminalise homosexuality. This bill was rejected in the Lok Sabha. To continue the movement, 5 new petitioners moved the SC against Sec. 377 in 2016. Listening to their arguments, the SC referred their pleas to a 5-judge bench, instituted to review the section. Finally, in 2017, the SC declared that the right to privacy is a fundamental right and further added that sexual orientation is an essential element of privacy. In the constitution bench hearing on 6th Sept. 2018, the SC denied the validity of Section 377, embracing inclusion and vanquishing prejudice.
Battles yet to be won – Jammu and Kashmir
As the entire country soaked in the victory and celebrated with pride, the LGBTQ community in Jammu and Kashmir remained muted. The verdict of the SC was in reference to the Indian Penal Code. Jammu and Kashmir however, does not fall under the jurisdiction of the IPC. The state is governed by its own Constitution and criminal law – Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). The RPC, likewise to the IPC also criminalises sexual activities between heterosexuals. Thus, the decision of the SC is not applicable to the provinces of Jammu and Kashmir. What further toughens the struggles of the LGBTQ community in the state is the fact they have almost no voice owing to the cultural and religious orthodoxy of the state. We can only hope that the crusaders of the LGBTQ community and the concerned authorities in Jammu and Kashmir draw inspiration from the achievement secured by the rest of the country.
Battles yet to be won – Legitimate Constitutional rights
Serving equality includes providing equal rights to all members. This includes the civil rights for the inheritance of property, same-sex marriage, sharing insurance and others. While the SC has taken a stand for the community, reluctance can still be sensed when it comes to same-sex marriages. A government official, anonymously said, “Decriminalisation of same-sex acts was fine but the government would oppose any demand to legalise same-sex marriage.” Same-sex marriages are still believed to be against the norms of nature. With this, the question arises, what exactly is natural? What are the ‘norms of nature’? We hope that the Indian LGBTQ will gain equal status in the society, as a natural and integral part of it and the Government will be able to see through the age-old norms and beliefs. Fingers crossed, love shall conquer all with pride! Use the comment section below and let us know about your experience! 7 Things To Do For Ensuring Better Sleep
Sleep deprivation is one of the big issues in our general public today. Particularly among the young. What's more, in the present aggressive world, everybody is centered around their separate fields. They are neither ready to invest the resulting measure of energy for themselves nor keeping them sound and fit. What's more, to keep these things on track, a satisfactory measure of rest is a standout amongst the most vital "Mantra". Insomnia can be due to many reasons though, there are other things at play: stress, worry, digestive issues, stimulants, high emotions, artificial lights in the bedroom, or a distracting noise, for example. Our body and mind have trouble processing this, and therefore switching off can be tricky.
Here are some ways to overcome insomnia.
1. Discipline
Making a timetable and following it should be one of the most important factors in everyone life, but everyone ignores it. Following a planned routine in the right manner in your daily life can be highly beneficial.
2. Exercise And Meditate Daily
Exercising at the starting of the day make our body fit and healthy. It leads to tiredness at the end of the day, which helps to fall asleep. Warning: don't exercise just hours before sleeping hour, this will divert your body and senses from sleep.
3. Follow Healthy And Nutritious Diet
Bad digestion often leads to sleeplessness because our body is focused into solving this problem and this leads to sleep-sabotage for the day. Keep eating fruits, vegetables on alternate days and a regular supply of vitamin C as our body can't store vitamin C, its excreted out every day. Getting out in the sun is also proven beneficial for the health.
4. Overcome Distractions
Establish a regular "going to bed" routine. This including no computer or screens after 8pm (excluding the occasional movie outing!). The use of phone and computer just before going to bed is bad for eyes and our brain is distracted from the sense of sleep. Minimising the use of screens in daily life is also recommended.
5. Eat 4 Hours Earlier
Try not to eat too close to going to bed. You'll feel that you have to stay up later just to let your food digest. Eat your meals at least 2 hours before going to bed and avoid eating at the middle of the night. Don't drink excess fluids before going to bed. That will only lead you to visit washroom for the rest of the night!
6. Avoid Stressful Conversations
Having any big or potentially stressful conversations before going to bed will lead your brain and body thinking about the conversation, having it over and over again in your mind, increasing stress level and no matter how hard you try, you won't be able to get it out of your head. And soon, all your attention will be diverted into the conversation leaving you awake all night.
7. Cut Down On Caffeine
Have it before noon if you can't resist. Caffeine acts as a central nervous system stimulant. When it reaches your brain, the most noticeable effect is alertness. You'll feel more awake and less tired. Which will cause troubles in falling asleep? Chamomile tea, decaf are a great alternative. Avoid all types of soft drinks and start drinking natural fruit juices, and plenty of water, at least 3-4 liters in a day. Use the comment section below and let us know about your experience! If Your Man Does These 7 Things Don't Marry Him
The concept that a loving relationship between partners should be all about love and respect that should never be forgotten. There is an abundance of truly healthy relationships where both partners communicate, show respect and affection, and work hard to keep the relationship in good standing. Unfortunately, there is also an abundance of relationships that look nothing like the aforementioned relationship. Even more distressing is that many of these destructive relationships evolved despite early signs of dysfunction. For women, these signs should be deal breakers that scream “Don’t Marry Him!”.
If your man does these 7 things don't marry him:
He Devaluates You
Marriage is all about equality between two partners. If he doesn’t treat you as an intelligent and independent individual at par with him, you might want to give it a second thought. After all, who wants to spend a lifetime being treated as a second-class citizen.
He Disrespects Your Family And Friends
Your partner needs to embrace your family and friends wholeheartedly. While he may not be fond of every person in your life, considering he’s human, he still needs to respect them because they matter to you. Disrespecting people that mean the world to you just goes to show how little he values your opinion. Now, that’s something you should never accept.
He Is Unreliable
In a marriage, you need to know that you can depend on your husband and he will be your rock in difficult times. If your boyfriend, or fiancé, has a history of not turning up at moments you need him, it might be a good idea to think twice because people rarely change after marriage.
He Fails To Appreciate You
If your partner doesn't appreciate or uplift you enough it is a sign of their disinterest in who you are and what you are good at. Everyone needs that little push in life, if he is not considerate of the fact that you are walking at your own pace and doing good things, why is he your partner?
He keeps secrets
While you can be as mysterious as you want with the world, your communication with your partner needs to be on point. If you suspect your partner is keeping secrets, ones that could potentially ruin your relationship, you need to sit down and have a conversation with them.
He Doesn’t Give Importance To Your Career
Your career needs to be just as important to him as he is to you. He shouldn’t see it as just something you do for ‘fun’. It’s important for him to acknowledge your dreams and ambitions and keep them in mind instead of disregarding them as frivolous. That’s not a man you want to end up with.
He Stretches Fight
‘Don’t dig up old graves’ is a famous saying and for good reason. Every person wants a partner who can find constructive solutions to a disagreement instead of making it worse. A partner who works towards addressing your insecurities is much better than a partner who stretches a fight, just to win the argument. How Jeans Took Over The World
While there is a touch of contention over which started things out: denim or jeans, (actually they aren't the same) they are both connected to a European foundation coming from the 1700's. In France and England, denim was picking up prevalence as a texture that was strong and agreeable, while in Italy, Jean was being made into topcoats and fine pants for working men not occupied with "difficult work". In 1872, Levi Strauss, a fruitful dry products businessperson was approached by Jacob Davis, a tailor who enhanced the quality of the jeans he made by including metal bolts. Davis couldn't stand to patent his "bolt", so he approached Levi to pay for the patent application. Levi, a savvy specialist, moved toward becoming accomplices with Davis and in 1873 got a patent for a "Change in Fastening Pocket-Openings."
Very quickly, coal mineworkers in California embraced them as their "informal uniform", as they stood up amazingly well to the rigors of the mines. It was this association with the mines that gave pants an image of financial status that was related with the common laborers. In spite of the fact that "midriff overalls" were generally made with jean, Levi and Davis made their jeans from denim for their solace and sturdiness. By the 1920's, Levi's® Waist Overalls were the main item in men's work pants in the Western states, and regardless of the way that they were currently being made with denim, they were still alluded to as jean pants.
By the ’30s, cowboys in the U.S. had also adopted this seemingly indestructible pant. The rise in popularity of Western movies in the U.S. introduced the general public to jeans and soon every boy and man wanted to imitate their screen idols by getting a pair of jeans. The rugged lifestyle of jean wearers helped to create a jean identity. Denim Rivet Levi StraussWearing jeans could now be used to make a “statement”. The ’60s and ’70s saw jeans reinvented and the casual look became a symbol of a care-free generation. Jeans were bell-bottomed and were often decorated with beads, embroidery, and paint. It was a statement of non-conformity. The ’80s was the rock scene: acid wash, rips, holes, and “cut offs”. The ’90s was about a neat and classic look. Jeans were literally climbing the social ladder of taste.
Pants have advanced into our regular way of life and have lost its relationship as an "average workers" piece of clothing. Today, a huge number of individuals still wear their pants to work—to the mines, as well as into the meeting rooms of the high society. Catch Me If You Can
The movie is based on a real-life story and true incidents, Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Frank Abagnale, a teen-aged intelligent con man so spectacularly gifted that he was able to steal millions from various companies with the forged cheque, by successfully impersonating as an airline pilot, a doctor, a lawyer, and many other guises. He managed to get on the top ten most wanted list by FBI before his 21st birthday. He is chased by a rigidly rule-bound F.B.I. agent, Carl Hanratty (Tom Hanks), who is at first comically out-classed by the young improvising criminal genius but the agent is steadfast and relentless and has the law on his side leading to an interesting cat and mouse chase between the two. The movie is filled with delightful supporting performances, interesting events, and surprising outcomes. Starting with Hanks and continuing on with Nathalie Baye as the boy's selfish mother, Amy Adams as his immature fiancée. Christopher Walken plays a sympathetic role as the mischievous and spirited Abagnale Sr., whose life darkens with fall of his fortunes and problems with his wife. Spielberg's movie is rich with fascinating details and memorable incidents, while the script by Jeff Nathanson moves backward and forward in time to tell the story in the most engrossing way possible. It has been a top-notch entertainment for 140 minutes. Steven Spielberg's direction and Jeff Nathanson's screenplay proved it, that no one can do it better than them.
This movie received a lot of praised and appreciation from the critics, as well as the audience from all over the world. Plenty of awards were received by Steven Spielberg, DiCaprio, Walken. This movie was surely one of the best of DiCaprio and Spielberg. Use the comment section below and let us know about your experience! Raksha Bandhan Special: Things That Make Brother Sisters Bond The Best!
There is no bond that can match up the equation between a sister and a brother. It is undoubtedly the most pious relationship in the entire world. It is impossible to describe such connection in words, but it can be easily expressed in the feeling of comfort that you feel, in each other’s presence. Irrespective of how badly you guys fight with each other, or how many tantrums you throw disagreeing on everything; the bond remains irreplaceable. With a bond so special, there is no requirement for a reason to celebrate it. However, to honour this special bond, there exists an equally special day in the Indian tradition – Raksha Bandhan. Read on to find out what makes this relationship between a brother and a sister so amazing, and why their bond is the best!
The Friend
Your sibling is the first closest guy or girl in your life. Your brother/sister is the person who teaches you that you can actually be friends with the opposite gender. To sum it up – you learn people of the opposite gender are also normal human beings!
The Counsellor
Living with you, they get a sense of how the opposite gender perceives the things around them. Before they step out into the real world, they are already prepared for the guys and girls they are going to meet and know how the opposite gender functions.
The Partner
When you two joined forces, you made the best partner-in-crime with the crazy girl ideas and the perfect guy execution. Also, you got the best of both worlds sharing a lot of things including your toys.
The Competitor
With the heated boy vs girl rivalry always hanging between you two, you both had innumerable “I am the favourite” fights. However, you both always had an upper hand as “Maa ka ladla” and “papa ki pari”.
The Prankster
You both love playing pranks on each other. Always trying to outwit, outplay and outlast each other, your conquest to earn the title of “Last man standing” is an infinite affair. You guys know exactly what pisses off the other one and you leave no stone unturned to irritate each other.
The Companion
You guys can be the crazy, gross and weird self you are in each other’s company. You can't even imagine acting in the same way in front of someone from the opposite gender as each other.
The Mentor
You get to know that in the end, both men and women want similar things. For instance, you both might share a love for desserts and love horror films. Your relationship also helps you dismiss the stereotypes like boys don’t cry and girls can't drive.
The Advisor
You both are overprotective of the guys/girls they date. The men or women in your life need to be approved by your sibling. Also, they provide the best dating and relationship advice as they know exactly how your partner is taking the situation and what you can do to please them.
The Confusion
Every time you guys step out laughing and being comfortable together, people think that you two might be dating. It is actually not a strange thing seeing the bond between you two. But every now and then, you need to clarify, “He/she is my brother/sister.” At the end of the day, brother and sister relationships are the best. You both share an unparalleled bond always caring for each other. You guys know each other inside out and always look after each other. With the same bloodline, you both never run out of things to say, sharing similar interests and are always there for each other. With this, we at Plenty Post wish you a happy Raksha Bandhan and hope that your bond with your sister/brother strengthens every day. Ghoul - Not A Watch For The Faint-Hearted
The Blumhouse Productions, who produced films like Insidious, Split, Get Out and Sinister has rolled out its first ever Indian horror series "GHOUL" in association with Netflix India. This web series is based on the Arabic folklore of the myth, of jinns. The cinematography by Jay Oza and editing by Nitin Baid greatly aid in creating this series realistic. It is a horror drama that shows how to tackle social and religious changes in an effective and dramatic way. The religious complexity might get misunderstood by the viewers but the exoticisation of the supernatural character is enough to establish an edge-of-your-seat paranoia giving you a perfect nail-biting experience thinking about the next phase in the series. Especially the background music of 'Ghoul', which is given by 'Udta Punjab' fame Naren Chandavarkar and Benedict Taylor, is wonderful.
The main character of the series is, Nida Rahim (Radhika Apte) who seeks social approval desperately, considers her religion a crutch and to prove her loyalty for her country, she did not hesitate in getting her father arrested, on the grounds that he taught ‘anti-national’ literature, thus he is now branded as a ‘terrorist’. When Nida with her team, led by their captain interrogate her father in a special military facility called Meghdoot-31 a surprising event take place where Nida's father while exposing shameful secrets of the interrogators is possessed by the flesh-eating demon 'Ghoul'.
The horror and violent content in this web series makes it exclusive and not something a fainthearted could watch. The series is packed full of impressive and suspense acting with a combination of Horror-Thriller genre. There are many twists and turns that hold down the viewer's interests up to the end. It has already started getting positive reviews from the viewers at large after its official release, a few hours ago. Use the comment section below and let us know about your experience! Forrest Gump - Too Subtle For The 21st Century Audience?
"Forrest Gump" was a remarkable work by academy award winner Tom Hanks based on the novel "Forest Gump" by Winston Groom. It is a romantic drama with a small slice of comedy with the best screenplay and the soundtracks selling over 12 million copies. Tom plays the role of a slow-witted but kind-hearted man whose life takes him through experiences that a normal man is unlikely to be known. The movie takes us through the 1950s American history about the Vietnam war, Watergate scandal. It is an emotional, sentimental, inspiring and completely unique movie directed by Robert Zemeckis's. Gump faces many tribulations throughout his life, but he never lets any of them interfere with his happiness. Despite destiny playing Satan, Gump continues to believe that a good thing will happen and goes after his dreams. While several less than ideal things occur during Gump's life, he manages to turn each setback into something good for him. While Gump eventually achieves the majority of the things he hoped, throughout the movie.
Forest Gump won many hearts as well as awards, and it became the blockbuster of 1994. But it is delicate and old-fashioned for the young audience. Its been 28 years since "Forrest Gump" was released. The drama, for which Tom Hanks earned a best actor Oscar, follows a southern man named Forrest Gump through his extraordinary life, which includes brushes with Elvis Presley, John F. The Role Of Yoga In Attaining Work-Life Balance
Balance is the key to a happy and healthy life. A balanced life puts you in control of your activities and gives you greater flexibility in your daily routine. Similarly, maintaining the balance between professional and personal life is equally important. It not only helps you to be successful but it also ensures satisfaction and inner peace. Attaining work-life balance, however, stands as a challenge we more than often fail to achieve. In the words of Mr. Stephen Richard Cowey, a renowned American author, educator, and businessman: “The challenge of work-life balance is, without doubt, one of the most significant struggles faced by modern man". A little bit of perseverance, yoga, exercise and some healthy steps, will help you to achieve it. One of the best remedies in this process is Yoga. The word Yoga is a Sanskrit word which means “union” or “connection”. Yoga acts as a gateway in connecting the body with the mind, and the head with the heart. Unlike fitness training, isn't only about exercises, it's about a sound and healthy lifestyle. It helps in controlling the various aspects of a hectic work schedule like stress and anxiety.
Here is how Yoga will pave your way to a healthy balance of life:
Relieves stress
The simplest and the most crucial form of Yoga is Breathing. Taking in deep breaths, fresh air and energy are inhaled while the used air is exhaled from the body. This helps to calm down, declutter the mind and hence, work with an open mind thereby relieving stress.
Makes you more active
Yoga increases the blood-flow, boosts heart rate and increases endurance. This helps to fight depression. Due to the increased blood flow, more oxygen reaches the cells which keep one active throughout the day bringing out the best results.
Boost focus and improve memory
The most important aspect of work and life both is to be able to clearly focus on its demands. People who meditate on a regular basis have been found to be less scattered and distracted while being able to focus more. This is because yoga works on their concentration and attention, while also working on their coordination.
Helps you rest properly
Rest is perhaps the most important thing one needs after a hectic day. Yoga provides relief from the consuming hustle and bustle of life and relaxes the nervous system. This helps in sleeping soundly and deeply. Thus, it again helps in reducing tiredness and boosting energy by ensuring proper rest.
Quiet your evils
Our minds are preoccupied with evils like frustration, fear, and regret. These evils lead to health issues like migraines, insomnia, and high blood pressure. Yoga helps us to control our thoughts along with these evils and quiet them, thereby, guaranteeing mental peace. A peaceful mind is the most productive of all.
Explore your spirituality
It enables us to self-examine ourselves and introduces us to our positive self. Exploring the inner self, our self-esteem gets a huge boost which in turn affects our personality. With a pleasant personality and high self-esteem, it is possible to even conquer the world. Again, it helps boost our inner strength which helps us make greater efforts towards our goals.
Increase self-awareness
Yoga and meditation work on our body, mind, and soul in such a way that it makes us aware of what is going on within us. It also makes us aware of the smallest change taking place within us. This helps us to connect not only to ourselves but also with the people around us. It fuels compassion and boosts the presence of mind. It develops friendliness and politeness which makes it easier to communicate with people. To care for someone else, you must take care of yourself first. Yoga generates a feeling of self-care. This gives us the power to effect changes on our own, hope, imagine and innovate. It teaches us to be calm and contempt yet strive. Therefore, it is a way of life that teaches us how to work, live and learn all at once. Use the comment section below and let us know about your experience!
