An Imagined Letter from Covid-19 to Humans
Stop. Just stop.It is no longer a request. It is a mandate.I’m here to help you.this supersonic, rollercoaster, ran out of railsStop, no more planestrainsschoolsshopping mallsmeetingsWe’ve broken the frenzied whirlwind of illusions and obligations that keep you from rolling your eyes to the sky, watching the stars, Listen to the sea, Let yourself be lulled, by the birds chirping, roll through the meadows, pick an apple from a tree, Smile to an animal in the forest, Breathe in the mountains, listen to common sense. We had to break it, you can’t play to be god. Our obligation is mutual, as it’s always been Even if you forgot it. We will interrupt this broadcast, the infinite cacophonic transmission of divisions and distractions,to bring you this news:We are not well!None of us; all of us are suffering.Last year, the firestorms that scorched the lungs of the earth did not stop you.Nor the typhoons in Africa, China, Japan.Nor the fevered climates in Japan and India.Or knowing that you are responsible of the sixth mass extinction. You have not been listening. It is hard to listen when you are so busy all the time, hustling to to climb higher and higher , on the scaffold of amenities that you’ve built. But the foundations are collapsing ,They are arching under the weight of your fictitious wishes. I will help you.I will carry the firestorms inside your bodyI will flood your lungsI will isolate you like a polar bear on a drifting iceberg. Are you listening to me now? We are not healthy. I’m not your enemy, I’m just a messenger. I’m an ally. I am the force that restore the balance. Now you have to listen to me:I’m urging you to stopTo be quiet, to listen; To raise your eyes to the sky, how is it?How much do you need to be happy, to enjoy the oxygen, that you breathelook at the ocean, how is it?look at the rivers, how are they?look at the earth, what do you see? Look at yourself, how are you?Yo can’t be healthy in a sick ecosystem stop Many are afraid now, don’t demonize your fear, Do not let yourselves dominate, Let him talk to youlisten to his wisdom, Learn to smile with your eyes, I will help you, if you listen to me Part 1 video made by: Drink Montico

Dreams of global cooperation
If only this crisis could get us in the direction of "humanizing" production lines, data systems and healthcare; and get us moving towards global cooperation...one can only dream..
"First and foremost, in order to defeat the virus we need to share information globally. Countries should be willing to share information openly and humbly seek advice, and should be able to trust the data and the insights they receive. We also need a global effort to produce and distribute medical equipment, most notably testing kits and respiratory machines. Instead of every country trying to do it locally and hoarding whatever equipment it can get, a co-ordinated global effort could greatly accelerate production and make sure life-saving equipment is distributed more fairly. We might consider a similar global effort to pool medical personnel. Countries currently less affected could send medical staff to the worst-hit regions of the world, both in order to help them in their hour of need, and in order to gain valuable experience. Another requirement is reaching a global agreement on travel. Countries need to co-operate in order to allow at least a trickle of essential travellers to continue crossing borders: scientists, doctors, journalists, politicians, businesspeople.
Humanity needs to make a choice. If we choose global solidarity, it will be a victory not only against the coronavirus, but against all future epidemics and crises that might assail humankind in the 21st century. "

This moment is not life waiting to happen, goals waiting to be achieved, words waiting to be spoken, connections waiting to be made, regrets waiting to evaporate, aliveness waiting to be felt, enlightenment waiting to be gained. No. Nothing is waiting. This is it. This moment is life

Quote
Begin the morning by saying to thyself, I shall meet with the busy-body, the ungrateful, arrogant, deceitful, envious, unsocial. All these things happen to them by reason of their ignorance of what is good and evil. But I who have seen the nature of the good that it is beautiful, and of the bad that it is ugly, and the nature of him who does wrong, that it is akin to me, not only of the same blood or seed, but that it participates in the same intelligence and the same portion of the divinity, I can neither be injured by any of them, for no one can fix on me what is ugly, nor can I be angry with my kinsman, nor hate him, For we are made for co-operation, like feet, like hands, like eyelids, like the rows of the upper and lower teeth. To act against one another then is contrary to nature; and it is acting against one another to be vexed and to turn away.

Indigenous communities have been engaged in strong creative visual expression since we emerged from the earth. It’s written into our creation stories and is interwoven into our ceremonial practices. It pre-dates conceptual art, social practice, abstract expressionism, modern art, or politically-charged art. Our existence in this post-apocalyptic world is a revolutionary act because we are survivors of alien invasion, and are continually defending the existence of life even when colonizers use the earth against itself in acts of war, humiliation, and greed! Our art is our peace offering. Our art is our voice striving for liberation and love. Our art is our tool to dismantle the suffocating and viral disease that is capitalist, colonial greed because it will only benefit all living things. We use our language(s) to communicate our will to survive and coexist and evolve beyond the confines of the world we were born into. We strive for harmony among all living beings and to utilize our minds and bodies to their utmost potential. We strive for a billion different shades of love and to pierce the prism of light if only to travel on a band of energy that unites the wisdom of the present and that of ancestral knowledge. We are warriors in our own right. We understand there is ceremony in visual reclamation and creative expression! Ahéhéé Erin Joyce for providing us with the space to present our artwork inspired by #IndigenousResistance to #DakotaAccessPipeline. I’ve always believed that I am just a vessel channeling the energy of my ancestors, and in this way it is true that I am just a vessel to channel the spirit and motivation needed to help sustain this movement. Please, take a minute to read about the artwork and the artists contained, but go beyond that and spread awareness and support issues regarding #StandingRock and the various Indigenous tribes striving toward #sovereignty and #environmentaljustice. ...writing is a becoming, writing is traversed by strange becomings that are not becomings-writer, but becomings-rat, becomings-insect, becomings-wolf ... the incredible feeling of an unknown Nature—affect. For the affect is not a personal feeling, nor is it a characteristic; it is the effectuation of a power of the pack that throws the self into upheaval and makes it reel.

"This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal." Toni Morrison

For a New Beginning In out-of-the-way places of the heart, Where your thoughts never think to wander, This beginning has been quietly forming, Waiting until you were ready to emerge. For a long time it has watched your desire, Feeling the emptiness growing inside you, Noticing how you willed yourself on, Still unable to leave what you had outgrown. It watched you play with the seduction of safety And the gray promises that sameness whispered, Heard the waves of turmoil rise and relent, Wondered would you always live like this. Then the delight, when your courage kindled, And out you stepped onto new ground, Your eyes young again with energy and dream, A path of plenitude opening before you. Though your destination is not yet clear You can trust the promise of this opening; Unfurl yourself into the grace of beginning That is at one with your life's desire. Awaken your spirit to adventure; Hold nothing back, learn to find ease in risk; Soon you will be home in a new rhythm, For your soul senses the world that awaits you.

We met at the wrong time. That’s what I keep telling myself anyway. Maybe one day years from now, we’ll meet in a coffee shop in a far away city somewhere and we could give it another shot.

One heart is not connected to another through harmony alone. They are, instead, linked deeply through their wounds. Pain linked to pain, fragility to fragility. There is no silence without a cry of grief, no forgiveness without bloodshed, no acceptance without a passage through acute loss. That is what lies at the root of true harmony.
