Penelope did not know why Dad lost his job or why he couldn’t find a new job closer to home or why all of a sudden everything in the shops had become so “expensive”, whatever that was. All she knew was that she wanted a pony castle for her birthday.

So the next time they went to the town, Penelope dragged Grandpa to show him the beautiful pony castle in the window of the toy shop. There was a rainbow arch in the middle. Under this arch were colourfully decorated shapes. If you placed one of the three ponies which came with the castle on these shapes, the shapes would rotate and all the lights lit up and music would come out of two tiny speakers hidden in the castle windows.

He saw scenes of the two legs; the humans taking great whips and beating them, taking their fire sticks and killing some, and ripping calves away from mothers. Azizi didn’t want to look anymore.

Dead Market - Gary Starta. They rode in welcomed silence as they traversed the Cross Town Expressway, the shortest route to the city morgue. Ghost stories of Ybor City haunted Morris, despite his claims that all science fiction, especially the novels Duncan liked, was bullshit. Thoughts of El Chupacabra, a creature which sucks blood, pervaded Duncan’s mindset, contrary to the fact that the creature supposedly hailed from Puerto Rico and preferred goats to humans. The pounding from the back of the van broke the silence. Morris witnessed the fist clubbing upon the Plexiglas partition. It happened as Duncan negotiated a hairpin curve, the winding roadway which would serve as an exit off of the Cross Town Expressway. For the EMT’s, the roadway would serve as a final exit. As the van began to tip, Morris’s last words to a police dispatcher were: “It’s trying to come through the window…” Buy it today!!
