Hama Bead Molecules Pt.3 - Ghrelin
Ghrelin is a hormone produced by enteroendocrine cells of the gastrointestinal tract, especially the stomach, and is often called a "hunger hormone" because it increases food intake.

Hama Bead Molecules Pt.1 - Insulin
Insulin is a peptide hormone produced by beta cells of the pancreatic islets; it is considered to be the main anabolic hormone of the body. It regulates the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and protein by promoting the absorption of glucose from the blood into liver, fat and skeletal muscle cells. In these tissues the absorbed glucose is converted to glycogen via glycogenesis and fats via lipogenesis.

Protein Motifs pt.5 - two Rossman folds
Rossman folds, named after Michael Rossman, consist of 3 beta strands and 2 helices in an alternating fashion: beta strand, helix, beta strand, helix, beta strand. This motif tends to reverse the direction of the chain within a protein.
(I’ve also included the pixel art pattern I used to make this protein motif because it looked cool :) )

Protein Motifs pt.3 - beta-beta hairpin and beta meander
A beta hairpin is a common supersecondary motif composed of two anti-parallel beta strands connected by a loop. A beta-meander consists of consecutive antiparallel-beta strands linked by hairpins.

Protein Motifs pt.2 - beta-alpha-beta motif
A beta-alpha-beta motif is composed of two beta strands joined by an alpha helix through connecting loops. The beta strands are parallel, and the helix is also almost parallel to the strands.

Hello! I really want to start embroidering and you’re really good at it! I tried to embroider at home and boy did that work out... /(._./) I just want some pointers on where I should start and where I should buy threads, hoops, etc from? I’m part of science bowl (science competition) and I really want to embroider photosynthesis or something to show my team when we meet again!! Ur awesome and I hope ur doing well during quarantine! ^^
Hey! Thank you :-) Honestly, I might be the worst person to ask - Personally, I just bought all my materials on Amazon (I suggest large embroidery thread packages, a number of different sized embroidery hoops, and pretty much any canvas material). For different stitches and techniques any youtube video you can find from someone who sounds like a grandma or looks like they might go thrifting a lot will do! and obviously, the more you can practice - the better you will get. Wishing you loads of luck on your quarantine embroidery adventure haha

Your work is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I teach biology and I just picked up embroidering because of the coronavirus. Your artwork combines two of my FAVORITE things in the world and I'm in awe of how detailed and colorful it is. I'm interested in how you came up with the idea of doing molecular bio-inspired embroidery designs because it's. just. so. rad!!!!
Thank you! Also, I have infinite support for all the teachers (especially biology ones haha) who are continuing to educate during the pandemic :-). I also only began embroidery at the start of lockdown, and embroidering molecules and biochemical pathways seemed like an interesting twist on quite a traditional hobby. It has also provided me with a way of making some very specifically themed decorations and clothes, which I probably couldn't find elsewhere! Most of the ideas for individual pieces come from topics that have appealed to me during my studies or are suggested by others :-)
