Campaign replaces Indian bindi with iodine patch
A new campaign by Grey Group Singapore’s newly formed philanthropic arm Grey for Good is looking to alleviate iodine deficiencies in women in rural India by swapping the bindi for an iodine patch. Cinzia Crociani says, the ‘bindi’ is worn by many Indian women on their forehead.
This was made in partnership with NGO, Neelvasant Medical Foundation and Research Center and This initiative is supported by Talwar Bindi. According to Grey, millions of women across rural India suffer from breast cancer, fibrocystic breast disease and complications during pregnancy. In most of these cases, this is linked to iodine deficiency. The patches are aimed at making sure they get their dosage of iodine.
Almost every Indian woman wears a ‘bindi’, an Indian forehead art worn with a dot. With this in mind, Grey Group Singapore’s newly formed philanthropic arm, Grey for Good, collaborated with the NGO, Neelvasant Medical Foundation and Research Center, to produce iodine patches, known as the Life Saving Dot. This initiative is further supported by Talwar Bindi.
“The Neelvasant Medical Foundation and Research Center’s purpose is to help the under-privileged in society by bringing about an awareness that will help them to improve their quality of life. The Life Saving Dot is one of these brilliant missions to help the women across rural India – a simple yet effective idea,” said Dr. Prachi Pawar, President of Neelvasant Medical Foundation and Research Center.
“Iodine deficiency disorder is a major nutritional problem and the Life Saving Dot is a simple, yet innovative preventive measure to a widespread problem in rural India. This program can easily be extended to reach a larger population of women in India who need this vital mineral for a healthier life,” said Ali Shabaz, Chief Creative Officer of Grey Group Singapore.
Since mid-March, the Life Saving Dot has been distributed to Badli village (near New Delhi), Niphad-rural (Maharastra), Peth-tribal (Maharastra), and Kopergaon/Sinner (Maharastra).

Cinzia Crociani: I currently serve as Global Creative Director on SC Johnson at Energy BBDO in Chicago. I love my job, so much that in my 15 years I’ve started my career in advertising twice: the first time as an Italian copywriter at Publicis Milan, and the second, being thirsty for adventure, as an art director in Asia.
There I started again as a humble art intern at Ogilvy Singapore and then moved up the ranks to Creative Director at Grey and Saatchi & Saatchi over the next 9 years. In Singapore I worked on many local and regional campaigns and I created the “Life Saving Dot,” an idea that transformed Indian “bindis” into life-saving iodine patches for women in rural India. In November, 2017, I moved to the United States to join Energy BBDO where I recently helped to create “Prescribed to Death,” a memorial wall covered with 22,000 pills, each with a tiny face mechanically carved into it to represent the number of people killed by opioid addiction.
I’ve worked on global and Fortune 500 brands and my work has been recognized by international shows including 14 Cannes Lions with with 1 Grand Prix and 4 Golds, 9 One Show Pencils with 4 Golds, and 7 D&AD Pencils. In 2016 I was a juror on the Promo and Activation jury at Cannes. In 2017 I was part of the Branded Entertainment jury at AdStars and in 2018 judged the ADFED MN. I believe great work should not only drive sales, it should be the center of pop culture, or even lead it. My litmus test for a good idea is how it would sound in a CNN newscast.

Energy BBDO PAVEs The Way For Reform With "What She Was Wearing"
Cinzia Crociani: Energy BBDO partnered with PAVE, a Chicago-based non-profit organization that works to shatter the silence and prevent sexual violence, to create this video entitled, “What She Was Wearing.” The film sheds light on the flawed assumption that a woman is responsible for being sexually assaulted. Using spoken word poetry from Steve Connell, the piece calls into question the notion that “an outfit can ask for it,” stripping the power of speech from these inanimate objects and restoring voices to the women they belong to. In the process, viewers are invited to question their own beliefs about sexual assault and what or who is to blame.
In efforts to address and help promote healing among survivors of assault, PAVE launched this video tied to a social media campaign asking victims to share their stories, and clothing choices, across social platforms using the hashtag #WhatSheWasWearing.
