Ochre Concept 2
apparently i forgot to post this
Ochre's biological sibs were killed in a flash flood when they were six months old because the dragon assigned to save them ran away. Ochre, the only survivor of his sibs, was found stuck in a tree the next day.
In this rewrite, the false DoD were told their whole lives that they were dod. Morrowseer has been monitoring them from the start, ever since he found out the ToP decided to lock the real ones in a cave their whole lives and Kestrel's report of the SkyWing dragonet was suspiciously vague.
When Ochre was two, he escaped during one of the ToP's camp moves. Morrowseer didn't want a Dragonet of Destiny running free telling who knows who about who knows what, and had been sending out search parties and the like.
Ochre eventually ended up in the Mud Kingdom's capital city, where he assumed it was far too crowded and defended for him to be found. Due to everything centering around big sib troops, Ochre struggled to find any food or work and went hungry most days.
While he was here, he met a group of two sibs who had lost the rest of their troop in an attack from Blaze's forces when they were pretty young- except for one of their brothers, who they just lost six months ago to one of Blister's attacks.
Pigeon, the bigwings (male, he/him), and his sister Milkweed (genderfluid, she/her/he/him). It started with Ochre and Milkweed getting into a fight over a dead chicken, then food sharing when they had extra, then hunting together, and next thing they knew Ochre was one of them.
Ochre was quiet, thoughtful, and stand-offish, quick to throw death threats at everyone and everything.
Ochre concept 1
What if Ochre lost his siblings in an attack on the ToP? Like when he was real little. His brother was meant to be the dragonet, but Ochre was the only survivor. At some point when he was about 2 he ran away and escaped the ToP and ended up in an overpopulated MudWing village near the palace where he struggled to find work or food due to everything centering around the sib system. He told himself the reason he wouldn't get a sib group is cuz it'd make him a weak sappy mess, but deep down he's afraid of getting attached and losing them if the ToP take him back. They found him when he was almost 5 and he's been treated even worse than the other false DoD ever since and no one bothers to make sure he's fed and healthy. Flame and Viper take out their frustration on him a lot, and since they take most of his food he's kind of pathetic in a fight.

Deathbringer Rewrite Concept because I was Thinking about How Annoying He is Canonically.
The whole Tempest assassination thing happened before Deathbringer even hatched (and Quickstrike survived). The winglet is moved to four years before book 1 when Blister is discussing with Glacier's commander an alliance with Blaze's side to take out Burn before they go back to fighting. Quickstrike hit by lightning happens, and Deathbringer kills the commander with a spear stolen from a Blister's-side soldier. This leads the IceWings to believe this was all a plot to kill the second-in-command of the war, and blah blah u get the point.
Deathbringer is more quiet and calculated. Once he gets to know a dragon, he's more playful, but not straight annoying like the books.
He doesn't tease Glory in public, and is very concerned about not embarrassing her or crossing her boundaries. He's a gentleman.

I don't rly have as much to rewrite about arc 1 as I do the rest of the series, aside from the false dod. Wouldn't it be cute if both sets of DoD joined as one?? Any ideas??

accidentally posted this 2 my main blog.
GUYS I JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING FOR VIPER AND ICICLE
So instead of Viper being killed during the fight, she slips and only burns her hind leg and tail barb, plus some splashes here and there. Flame tries to go after her again, blinded by pain from the scar over his eye, and Fatespeaker shoves him to the ground. He's in too much pain to get up. Fatespeaker tries to offer help to Viper, who shoves her and tells her to get away from her, before wobbily taking flight and lopsidedly speeding away. Morrowseer sends EVERYONE to look for her after he's done fretting over Flame and notices, but no one can find her.
Flash forward to Icicle going to the volcano, she finds Viper, who barely escaped the eruption. She had been badly injured, but too proud to ask for help and too spiteful to let herself be found. She managed to drag herself to a very nearby island and hide in an underground cave before her burns really set in and she found it too painful to fly for a while. At some point she finally made it back to the volcano, after the eruption.
Anyways, Icicle and Viper make a deal. Viper helps keep her awake and promises to help her kill the dragonets of destiny, and in return Icicle will give her a pretty high spot in the Ice Kingdom when she's queen, and wipe out the Talons of Peace and/or NightWings.
I'm working on some ideas for Ochre, Flame, and Squid too. I want to write a whole side plot about Icicle and the false DoD!! If it were in the real series, it'd be a standalone that took place over the majority of arc 2 with time skips between chapters like the legends novel.

Putting this on this blog
HEADCANON: Arctic wasn't actually the last animus. After Snowfox became queen, she secretly started having any animus dragonets killed due to what happened with her, Snowflake, and Arctic. She and Snowflake passed these practices down to their daughters and over the next couple queens the IceWing animus bloodline was wiped out. Perhaps the deaths are blamed on a curse from Darkstalker?

When Foeslayer wakes up from the diamond trial and is freed, her reaction is really mellow which doesn't seem to fit her characterization from Darkstalker or the Runaway Winglet. What's your opinion on arc 2 Foeslayer compared to her other appearances?
Thanks so much for the ask!!! Asks make me happy :3
Ramble under cut
I feel like she only seemed the way she'd actually act right before Winter freed her and during Darkstalker's defeat. She was just like "lol thx" and moved on when Winter freed her from what she thought was an eternal prison??? Didn't even care? I feel like yeah, she'd be a bit mellowed out after the trauma, but I would've liked to see some of the Runaway Foeslayer's cheer. And the whole Tsunami thing was SO STUPID. INSANELY BAD. FORGOTTEN PLOTLINE AND JUST BEI1JEW9RBSIFUDHDGSSHDH.
So maybe I could make a little doodle comic or something rewriting her reaction to being freed with a little more whimsy (I am but a simple child, funny sad dragon get free = yayayayay!!! In my mind). Also we are COMPLETELY wiping the Tsunaminapping from the series. Feels like something in a fanfiction.

Another Lizard/Freedom and BoE Rewrite Concept
She was hatched during the journey from Pyrrhia to Pantala that the Legend of the Hives takes place after. I think she'd be a BeetleWing-LeafWing hybrid, maybe with some RainWing.
Basically, she was around 3 months old when the whole Legend of the Hives attacks started happening. After a month or so of the suffering, the tribes collectively made a decision- A sacrifice.
They took their youngest dragonet, got as close to the "core" of the BoE as they could find- The abyss in book 15. They threw Lizard into the pit, and she was killed on impact with the bottom.
After this, the attacks stopped. The new settlers assumed that the sacrifice had worked.
What actually happened, was Lizard's soul became intertwined with the Breath of Evil. She could control it, she could control anything it infected through her.
She, a naive dragonet, thought they'd sent her on a mission to save them. So she steered everything in her control away from the dragons, (after multiple failed attempts to use the controlled animals for their benefit)(and except for some little rodent spies and the like)
But she didn't receive any thanks. No credit, no love. They completely wiped her from history! No one even noticed. This devastated Lizard, after the years it took her to accept it. She went to sleep, and stayed that way.
That was, until Wasp woke her up. I haven't exactly figured this part out yet, but Wasp has found Lizard's remains and will destroy them- wiping her from existence- unless she lets Wasp share her control over the plant. Haven't figured out how that works either.
Over the 60 or so years she's spent conscious since her death, she's became bitter, miserable, and lost all her will to fight back against Wasp.
I want a scene where she begs Luna not to let her die, so they find a way to let Lizard live again somehow. Maybe by possessing a dead dragon or something?

Clay
What if we have him feel rly insecure about his relationship with his siblings? He longs to be one of them, but he feels so out of place. It feels like they're forgetting he's there and forcing themselves to awkwardly shoehorn him into their conversation so he doesn't realize they forgot he was there. He really enjoys being around them, but it also stresses him out because he feels like he'll always just be there because they're obligated to include him, not because they want him there. He kind of just quietly spectates and doesn't say anything unless he has to

I meant like changes to the ships I have no clue why I worded it this way
What are some improvements I could make to the arc 3 ships? Should I change some entirely? If so, to what?
Also what are some changes I could make to the love interests, esp Swordtail and WIllow?

Luna and Swordtail Rewrite concepts
These are just ideas! I'm stating them like they're final for the sake of ease but they ain't. PLEASE give feedback! Do we like this? Nah?
Luna is very big on "justice". She's loyal, friendly, and overprotective, and sometimes a bit shy, around dragons she sees as being on her side, like SilkWings, Jerboa III, ect. However, she decides whether to hate or love someone based off their first interaction and never changes her mind. She's rude, condescending, and argumentative with anyone "not on her side" that she can be to. She treats Cricket the exact way she hates the HiveWings so much for treating her. Her character arc could be realizing this and working on herself.
Swordtail is very similar. Playful, protective, (tries to be) as helpful as he can, when it comes to dragons he likes. He purposely ignores, goes against the ideas of, and snaps at HiveWings and over dragons he disagrees with. However, he can quickly warm up to dragons without being too embarrassed. Meanwhile, Luna will make every excuse in the world to herself to prove she's still in the right. His arc could be to calm down with the bullying dragons he sees as "bad guys" and stuff.

1st draft for rewriting Clearsight and the BeetleWings :) Feedback and reposts are very VERY appreciated!
So basically Clearsight tries to lead the NightWings over the ocean instead of going on her own, so she can keep them safe with her visions and be able to see Darkstalker’s effects on her tribe forever so she’d never forget and bring him back. Since most of the NightWings just saw her as Darkstalker’s moon-eyed girlfriend, most refused and joined together to follow Queen Vigilance around the continent in the exact opposite direction. //
However, dragons like Listener, Clearsight’s parents, Whiteout and Thoughtful, and however many others followed Clearsight to Pantala. How many should we have? 100 feels just right and like too many at the same time. 50? Idk I’ll just use 100 for now //
To the BeetleWings for a second. The Legend of the Hive took place about a thousand years before, and the dragons that fled were about 60% LeafWings, like 25% was the small BeetleWing tribe (who maybe had a similar bad habitat situation like the NightWings?), and 15% random dragons of other tribes who tagged along. The BeetleWings and other dragons lived in one kingdom and the LeafWings had their own separate one due to their population sizes.
This kind of led to the BeetleWing tribe fusing with the other Pyrrhians and becoming very diverse appearance and ability-wise. This is why the HiveWings are so varied in abilities and able to be so different from the SilkWings in ways NightWing genetics prolly couldn’t cause. By the time Clearsight arrives, the tribes are equal in size.
Clearsight and the NightWings live in a small village east of current day Lake Scorpion in BeetleWing territory, and in exchange they share their visions with those they have them of. A new queen comes into power a decade or so later and promises to drive out these strangers and tries to chase them out, but brave BeetleWings that had seen how kind the NightWings are join their side and try to fight for their home. They are defeated, and the NightWings, along with about a tenth of the BeetleWings, flee to the empty mountains northwest of current day Beetle Lake. //
15-20 years later, that queen’s daughter takes over and rejoins the split tribe under her rule. They’re still on opposite sides of the continent though, so overtime the BeetleWings and NightWings in the Western BeetleWing Kingdom developed a population of mostly hybrids. Over the next 2000 years the Western and Eastern BeetleWing Kingdom’s populations became even in HiveWings, NightWings(before they got bred out of Pantalan existence), and hybrids, until the HiveWings split off 500 years before the series. The HiveWings are descendants of about 100 NightWings instead of just one, does that fix it?? //
Clearsight still has about 17 kids or more, because she can see in her visions all her possible partners and dragonets. She can’t just give up all the rest for one partner and one set of dragonets, so she’s in a poly relationship with as many of those partners as possible. Can anyone who’s actually knowledgeable enough to write about this tell me how many partners she could realistically have? I know I want her to be with Listener and Sunstreak.

Glory
Tumblr media
Rewriting some stuff about Glory :)
My main issue with her character is how after she became queen she just lost her personality. She feels like just another Moorhen or Ruby most of the time, and I miss getting to see her be herself instead of RainWing queen.
Here's my first draft for this idea:
After Glory is crowned queen and the NightWings have settled down, Grandeur tells her she's too young for all this. Not that she isn't capable- she's the most capable dragon the RainWings have had in years. But she needs time to be a dragonet. She's spent her whole life getting hit in the face by SkyWings and solving prophecies, and now she's ruling two entire tribes. Grandeur and Deathbringer both pester her until they eventually convince her to move to JMA with her friends with a role somewhere between Tsunami's and Fatespeaker's. She's still queen, and Grandeur writes her on everything the new council and the kingdom does to get her approval. She's just not constantly doing queen stuff and spends most of her time being Glory instead of RainWing queen.
What should I change about this???? Anything else I should change about Glory?
Tumblr media
(unrendered transparent PNG version)
The art took about 5-6 hours, it's of Glory shortly after arriving at JMA. She's in the middle of changing colors, that's why it looks like I scribbled all over her. I'm not a fan of the final rendering, looks too dusty. I'll probably update it later
