What format will threads take? Will they be on Tumblr or Discord?

Both Tumblr threads and private Discord threads will be utilized during the game! Please note that the trials will occur exclusively through submitting Tumblr posts to this blog- no Discord there.

Are we allowed to change things in the backstory if we apply for Ousama, for the sake of motivation? (e.g. someone is alive in the regular backstory, but part of the Ousama motivation has that person be dead instead)

Where is Hope's Peak University located? Do characters need to be born/living in that country?

It is located in Japan (specifically in Tokyo)! As a general rule, characters should be living in Japan for at least a few months for HPU to recruit them, but if that really doesn’t fit your character’s background, it’s acceptable for them to have been scouted despite living overseas. Just give a reason as to why a foreigner would be chosen over a Japanese citizen with the same talent!

How specific can the talent be? (E.G. I have a Ult. Puyo Puyo Player, should I change their talent to be the Ult. Puzzle Game Player/Puzzle Gamer?)

You can get as specific as you’d like with a talent! The example you gave is perfectly acceptable.

Will there be a hopefuls chat? (Also, are there any restrictions on talents that can be applied?)

I don't have one in place right now, but I will certainly make a hopefuls chat if enough people show interest in one! Feel free to let me know via liking this post/sending an ask saying you'd join.

There are no talent restrictions with the exception of offensive or sexual talents (illegal talents are accepted, just as long as you provide a good reason that Hope's Peak University would take them). I will be playing a character as well, but I've got a backup should someone apply with that character's talent, so don't worry about that. Go wild!

Ousama Ronpa is a Dangan Ronpa OC Roleplay that draws heavy inspiration from the manga/movie Ousama Game. This is a reboot of Dangan Ousama operated by the same moderator. Prior knowledge of Ousama Game is not required. This is a closed game that will run on a three-week schedule, utilize Discord investigations, Tumblr trials, and contain some special events that your character will have to participate in. Applications are set to open on January 26th!
