I think this has been coming for a long time now, but I’m officially archiving this blog. All of my art and fics and RPs will remain up for as long as Tumblr is, but if you’d like to find where I’m currently active, @calculatingthestars​ on both AO3 and Tumblr is a good bet.

That said, I can honestly say that I had the pleasure of meeting the most talented and creative people while being here, and I cannot thank you all enough for the amazing times I’ve had. (I'm a huge introvert and it's always been difficult for me to be around people IRL, so being able to connect with kind people within the Jalec tag has truly been the highlight of my fandom experience.)

I wish everyone the best and hope that our little corner of fandom continues to grow. Love what you love, and never let anyone stop you from celebrating that which makes you happy. <3

Jace stared up at Sebastian, his mouth streaming blood, his eyes stinging with sweat, and felt only a sense of total and empty exhaustion. Was this really how he was going to die? “Wayland?” he said. “You know that’s not my name.”

“You have as much claim to it as you have to the name of Morgenstern,” said Sebastian. He bent forward, leaning his weight into the dagger. Its tip pierced Jace’s skin, sending a hot stab of pain through his body. Sebastian’s face was inches away, his voice a hissing whisper. “Did you really think you were Valentine’s son? Did you really think a whining, pathetic thing like yourself was worthy of being a Morgenstern, of being my brother?”

I hit 1500 followers during my hiatus, and I figured I could post this as my milestone thank you! I’m sure the show will have its own awesome take on how their storyline unfolds, but here’s one of my favorite SebJace scenes from the book. :D

I’m still technically on hiatus but I’ve been trying to write on the side, and it’s been going... a little slowly. I often say that writing is like going to the gym/exercising. The more I do it, the easier it gets, and TBH my long hiatus made it really hard for me to jump start it all up again. I’ve actually got several things in my drafts that are all in various states of finishing, and some art things that I was planning on posting but haven’t had the chance to yet, so I will be back soon(ish) but have not yet gotten the chance to get my stuff in order long enough to do so. ;_;

I know it’s not really much of an answer, but I will say that I still communicate with my dear @dnteverdoubtme daily and we do still talk about our boys, but just... yeah. RL, man. *shakes fist at world*

Look, Will is such as wonderful addition to our show. He’s such a talented actor; he really ups all of our games when we work with him. We’re going to see it more and more, but we’ve kind of just got the taste of this creepy, duplicitous character that he’s putting forward, and he’s so good at it. It’s a real pleasure to have him on set. He’s a true professional who portrays [his character] in a very honest and soul baring way. So more and more, Jace and Sebastian obviously have more interactions. And the book fans know what their relationship is and what it will become in the future, and during season two we are going to get a couple tastes of that. And it gets pretty brutal at times. We haven’t been told yet, but my theory is, that we’re going to see a lot of those two together in one form or another in season three. That’s just me speculating, but that’s what I think is in kind of in our futures

Do you ever think about the time Jace was living with Magnus? That first morning when Jace is in the kitchen getting coffee and Magnus just stumbles in. It’s the first time Jace sees Magnus’ warlock mark because it’s too early in the morning to care, even if he had a house guest. Jace notices the eyes and all he does is shrugs and asks Magnus if he wants coffee.

The writers keep telling me that it gets worse for Jace before it gets better, and I’m like, ‘When does it get better?’ We finished shooting Season 2, and it didn’t get better. We’ve spoken briefly about what’s coming in Season 3, and it doesn’t get better. So I ask them, ‘When is there a light at the end of the tunnel for Jace?’ and they’re like, ‘We don’t know.’ It just keeps getting worse.

They can’t give up their love, not when they just found it and it feels the way it does, they simply can’t, and so their affair continues in secrecy. Well, as close to secrecy as something can get when they already made out in front of Izzy in the morgue hallway to begin with… It also kind of ridiculous how little it takes for Clary to catch up and figure it out as well, she and Jace grew close regardless of being siblings or not, and she reads him better than Alec would wish she did. She vows to keep their secret, of course, but it takes Simon all of three days after that to blurt out his girlfriend has totally told him about it. In Clary’s defense, she did it before promising not to. 

Maryse and Robert find out. Not because Jace and Alec were careless, but because with all they know is hard not to suspect the possibility, and one really awkward conversation later the parabatai decide to come clean about it, they own their parents as much. They won’t stop, they make that clear, and knowing their children were forced into things to begin with softens their parents’ acceptance. They help them hide it, monitor the changes to their bond and their health. Maryse insists they see a warlock monthly to check for any developing magic and Roberts appointment to the council gives him the required power to keep Clave’s eyes away from the New York Institute. 

Alec becomes head of the Institue, with his parents in Idris and the position up for grabs the job is finally offered to him. There are whispers about his worthiness to the job, but his leadership is hardly questioned, not when they have a war to fight and battles to win. Eventually, it becomes clear he’s not leading the Institute alone, the parabatai pair working as a perfect unity even in that, Jace’s diplomacy and skill for soft talking situations helping strengthen their relationships with downworlder factions and get a better footing in the raging war. 

They do get magic in the form of a blue fire that burns in between their fingers at will. It’s something they keep to themselves, regardless of useful it could be in battle, or at least they do so for as long as possible. One battle finds Alec out of arrows and seeing a demon approaching Jace while he’s simply standing too far to help otherwise sees him throwing a ball of fire at the creature, watching it burst into flames before it reaches his parabatai. Magnus takes responsibility for the shot, his eyes far too knowing as he does so, and after that, it doesn’t take long for Clary to come up with her union rune that allows downworlders to share abilities with the nephilim. She claims she was simply inspired.
