okay so a white streak would be SO cool. like do I even need to explain anything???

but on the other hand, it's a permanent reminder of the not-so-great things he's done (that is, dark magic).

like imagine:

yay, it's a nice day, sun is shining, birds chirping, time to brush my teeth, let's just look into the mirror-

oh shit it's the perpetual reminder of the darkness inside me and the bad things I have done that I feel immense guilt over and can't undo.

The Same Path

There are a lot of parallels between Viren and Callum.

Let's start with appearances, because as any Illusionist worth their salt should know, they're the only the only thing we will ever really know.

The framing of some of these is too intentional to be a mistake. Now, that doesn't mean I think Callum will follow the same path as Viren, I don't. But it's still an interesting similarity.

Now, let's talk about the reality sitting right beneath the appearance.

Both Viren and Callum wanted to be someone. To feel that they amounted to something.

They were told who they were going to become.

But they chose to write their own destinies.

However it's not that simple. They each had someone that they held so dear... that they would do anything for them.

And "anything" encompasses a lot.

Both Lissa and Rayla are upset about what Dark Magic does to the people they love, but Viren and Callum believe that they have no choice. They're doing what they have to for those very people.

However Viren and Callum can both can acknowledge that they're right. They have succumbed to darkness.

Viren reached the end of his path and discovered it was not the one he thought he was walking.

Callum, however, has realized what path he is walking and is actively trying not to make the wrong choice.

I think that Callum and Viren are walking parallel paths, but that they are not the same. They have similar stories and are being faced with similar choices. They have similar temptations. But Callum's story is not one of corruption.

However I do think we will see Season Seven return to this theme of "anything".

Viren lost himself when he gave "anything" for those he loved. What will Callum lose?

Soren's Story via Dragon Plushie

The first time we see the appearance of the dragon plushie, it's at the end of the season two episode "Fire and Fury".

Soren has just battled with Pyrrha, and we learn that it was one of his life goals to slay a dragon. Here we see him as a child playing pretend to do just that.

The next time we see the plushie is in the end credits of the episode "Dragonguard" in season three when he joins Team Zym at the Storm Spire. Here he's hugging the little dragon, and on the wiki it's specified that he is "hugging dragon plush after fighting it in Fire and Fury".

In Season Four we begin to see Soren's toy dragon appearing in the actual show, as seen in Viren's dark magic dream sequence. But it also returns to the end credits. In the Season Four episode "Drakewood" an adult Soren can be seen wearing his pajamas and hugging it to him.

This is the same episode in which Soren befriends his Drake friend and manages to escape the Pit of Despair.

After this, we don't see the plushie again until Season Six, where it appears in Viren's flashback sequence in the episode "Moment of Truth".

We then see, not Soren's plush, but another child's that is very reminiscent of his, in the episode "Well All Fall Down". It is in the arms of a small child, but is dropped as they are forced to flee the burning castle of Katolis. In the end credits, we see it again; charred and discarded in the ruins of the castle.

And again, beside a fallen sword in the rubble.

It might not be Soren's plush, but in an episode that features him so heavily, and especially his relationship with Viren, it feels like it can't have been an accident. Because this is an episode of loss.

His father. His home. His childhood.

Who is the human mage?

"And my favorite, the human mage, already tainted by darkness and destined to play right into my hands."

When Aaravos says this in Season Four, I assumed that he meant specifically Callum. But in Season Six, we see it played over Viren as he awakens from a nightmare. And that got me thinking.

Who is the human mage? Or is it... all of them?

Aaravos is able to easily manipulate Viren and use him to first start a war, and after his death, to spark Claudia's search for the pearl.

This is what forces the heroes to go after the pearl as well, and while initially I thought it was Aaravos' plan for Claudia to find it, now I'm not so sure.

Because we have to remember the mages aren't his only pawns right now.

Meanwhile, the heroes find the pearl, and it's their victory that ultimately pushes Claudia to the brink and makes her so vulnerable to Aaravos' manipulations.

And then everything goes precisely according to Aaravos' plans. Callum is the one who leaves the pearl undefended (unintentionally and due to Aaravos's manipulation) in Katolis.

We later learn that smashing the pearl wouldn't have freed Aaravos, only a spell would. And Callum didn't have the ingredients in Katolis. Which means that Aaravos using Callum to try and take the prison in his sleep could only have been to scare him. It was a kind of manipulation in it's own right.

Aaravos then uses Pharos to bring Sol Regem to Katolis, where he must know Viren is waiting.

Even in his final moments, though he doesn't know it, Viren plays right into Aaravos' hands. Because if he hadn't of sacrificed himself, then Claudia wouldn't have been left directionless.

And so in the aftermath of everything, Aaravos can liken himself to Viren and play on Claudia's sympathies to win his freedom.

He didn't just use one human mage. He used all of them.

Viren to set things in motion, and then, when the time was right, to sacrifice himself and make Claudia vulnerable.

Callum to find the pearl and leave it in Katolis; because the easiest place to rob is somewhere that doesn't think it has a treasure.

And finally Claudia to finish what her father had started and free Aaravos.

Viren would never have freed Aaravos. Even from the beginning he was shown to not really trust him. He would have just taken the power for himself and put the bug back in the jug.

Callum would never have freed Aaravos, he knows that the elf is dangerous and has seen what he's capable of.

But Claudia still has goodness in her. She wants to help Aaravos because she wants to help him. Because he helped her, because she promised, and because he reminds her of her father. She was the only one who would actually release Aaravos in the long run.

And Aaravos knew this. He even told Viren that she would be a useful asset in the future, and while Viren tried to protect her, it ultimately ended up being true.

okay so today in school we were doing a quiz about (mostly Christmas) movies and stuff right. and i was just reading my friend's book in the corner. and then one question came up - "what did the Dursleys give Harry for Christmas in the movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone?"

and EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON MY TEAM TURNED TO LOOK AT ME AND SHOUTED "NICOLE?!"

and i looked up from the book like wtf is happening then i saw the question on the board and everyone was like "cmon nicole, tell us what it is" and i was like "oh a 50p coin" and they were like "YES THANK YOU" and i'm so proud of myself afasdjfhuieafha
