Past weekend in Amsterdam. A short two-day citytrip. It was very quiet through Corona, no mass tourism as I know it.

Impression of the day. Almost ready, just some details and minor changes and this dutch family coat of arms is ready, very happy with the result. The coat of arms family BAX

Offered yesterday, some ornamental models, and accepted with gratitude. Ornaments in plaster, an essential source of inspiration for the woodcarver. If you don't have the example ( in clay, plaster, wood,...), it is gonna be very difficult to get the right style period appearance

Not quite finished yet, carving some details at the moment. And then I let it rest for a week, this way you'll see imperfections come to the surface and can make adjustments. But so far, I'm very satisfied.

Not ready yet, the upper part still needs to be worked on . But the first impression is already ok, not easy this technique, also nice as a baroque style mirror. But actually meant as a holder for a family crest. Now put it aside and continue at a later date. When I have some more inspiration.

finished a Belgian family coat of arms carved on a oak panel.

Today at Antica Namur, antiques fair in Belgium, a few impressions. Always nice and pleasant this fair.

Just picked up at the lady of coloring, two small panels with the family coat of arms Spaulding and Ashintully Castle.

Carved Rococo mirror frame for a Dutch client, carved in limewood. It has yet to be gilded.

Two small panels with a coat of arms carved in pear wood. Ashintully Castle and family coat of arms Spaulding. For a customer in Louisville (Kentucky USA) they are now ready to be coloured.

It's so wonderful when everything turns out perfectly, the selection of wood, a collaboration between heraldic designer, furniture maker, ornamental woodcarver, woodturner, silversmith and icon painter. All that remains is for DHL to do its very best to ensure that this artwork, which is intended for future generations, is delivered safely to Finland.
