I illustrated for Disney’s MULAN book “Mulan’s Lunar New Year”, (you can see the book here!) a children’s book about little Mulan spending Lunar New Year with her family.

It’s my first book and I want to share some illustrations  :D [*will also have this book at my table at CTNx 2018 this year on display at T55!]

Looking back, there are lots that I want to improve on the crafting of my drawings for this book, but overall… I’m really glad I get to illustrate and to remember the joy and excitement I had celebrating Lunar New Years and lighting fireworks with my parents as a kid.

It was pretty magical.

I genuinely don’t know what’s funnier perspective of him leaving: Hobie’s character being so against the bullshit he was seeing and rejected being apart of Miguel and the Spider society’s morally dubious actions handling Miles that he just completely dips from the movie bc he’s like FUCK THAT and the establishment or also because he was so difficult to animate because it involved hand-cut zines and paper glued together to be xeroxed one by one while aspects like even his coat were done at different frame rates, the animators needed him to leave the film early because he was just that amazingly animated by hand and they couldn’t spend another 2-3 years solely on his character animation

Hobie just up and quitting when he saw the bullshit SENT ME mf threw the watch and DIPPED
