The irony is that when something stressful or traumatic happens, you might actually end up better as a result.
Psychology Professor Anthony Mancini has an unconventional take on trauma. There are many factors that determine how trauma affects us. And sometimes, the impact can ultimately be positive. In his research lab, Mancini explores the connections between trauma, cultural assumptions, and resilience. Read about it.

It’s #NationalNursesDay! Going above and beyond in support of healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic, @chpatpace nursing student Dana Umbro ’20 is the personification of “Opportunitas in Action.” Working alongside her long-time friend, Mar Healy and Mar’s mother, Margaret Healy, a critical care nurse, Dana has been putting together and distributing care packages for nurses in area hospitals. Their project is aptly named "Code Frontline."⠀ . . . ⠀ “While this may be a small contribution to a big problem,” Dana said, “We strive for these care packages to be a positive gesture in the nurses' days and hope that these packages alleviate some of the stressors faced on the front lines. In these challenging times, I have come to understand how important it is to support one another. So far, we have delivered more than 1,500 care packages and are making more each day! We do our best to include a protein bar, trail mix, a drink such as canned coffee, an energy drink, or protein shake, an individually wrapped makeup wipe, mints, candy, and hand sanitizers. All items in our care packages are individually wrapped and sealed to keep things as hygienic as possible.” #ThankYouNurses⠀ . . .⠀ Click the link in the bio to read more! ⠀ https://www.instagram.com/p/B_2X0lTA7aN/?igshid=1mirirw18blta

“It's gratifying to have found something concrete I can do to help out in a small way during these troubling times,” says @paceseidenberg Associate Professor of Computer Science Rick Kline, PhD, whose spent the last week working with volunteer group NYCMakesPPE.com to refine and create much-needed personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical workers in New York. “I’ve helped with several further iterations among discussions with half a dozen other people, many with expertise in design and manufacturing. I've also printed 50 copies of their ‘production’ frame design, which was published in the public domain by a Swedish company, 3DVerkstan.” He’ll soon be shipping them off to the volunteer group who will attach the clear plastic shields, sanitize the visors, and prepare them for distribution within New York City. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-uxq9_BKYm/?igshid=yrhivdj5z51l

These boxes might not look like much, but Pace’s College of Health Professions is donating more than 15,000 gloves, 60+ N95 masks, 250 standard face masks, and nearly 50 disposable gown kits to the health care workers at Westchester Medical Center and New York State. We’re helping to combat the critical shortage of personal protective equipment necessary to keep our health care professionals and communities healthy. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-KvYZbH10l/?igshid=1besepgdfm7ee
