How to make a before/after gif comparison with Photoshop
Challenge seems to be trending again so I thought I'd make one if it can help some folks.
Make your gif, add adjustments as needed.
2. Create a group ( At bottom of the layers menu, click on the fifth icon from the left. It is called Create group (folder icon))
3. Group 1 will appear above your adjustments layers:
4. Select adjusments layers
5. Drag them over the Group 1 folder. Drop them in. All layers will now be slightly indented (see below)
6. Set a guide vertically at 50 % (Top menu, view > new guide > new guide. A window opens like below. Type in 50%, choose vertical, click ok)
New guide looks like, see blue line
7. Choose selection tool (Rectangular marquee tool) in this case
8. Using the Rectangular marquee tool, draw area you want to create a mask on (in this case half of the gif).
9. Make sure you have selected Group 1 (in which adjustments layers are). See, Group 1 selected on the left, and Rectangular marquee tool active on the right, dotted line moving along rectangular area you selected)
10. At bottom of the layers menu, click on the third icon. It is called Add layer mask (square with circle in)
11. Result: mask active on the group, half of your gif is now "colored" and half is "original". In this case, colored is on the left, original on the right.
If you want, you can invert the areas. Keep Group 1 selected, go to Properties tab (if not available, look in the Windows menu top of the screen, click on Properties), click on Invert.
Second screengrab has colored area on the right instead of the right.
13. When you're ready to export, do as you usually do.
Result:
there are probably more ways of doing it but that's how i learned to make it :)

tommy kinard has so much fucking baggage and i'm so. obsessed with him. because when he's introduced to the show specifically within the context of meeting / pursuing buck, you get this sense that this is a very put-together man. he occupies his body with a confidence and self-assurance that carries him through life pretty successfully post-leaving the 118. and you think that's all there is to him, but then you get to the breakup and the way he got scared and all those layers of self-assurance peeled back instantly to reveal a very vulnerable person underneath and it's like oh. oh no wonder you left, you're a fucking mess aren't you. and like, i always said that i got the sense that buck could do far more damage to tommy than tommy could do to buck and the breakup only proved that tbh. anyways. it's very sexy if u ask me. tommy kinard let me crack u like an egg.

you see the problem is they made tommy perfectly blorbo shaped.
oh, this character is traumatised and lonely and longing for a family? In the found family show? unfortunately that’s prime babygirl material right there and I’d now die for him.

I’ve seen posts kinda chastising people for not feeling sorry enough for Buck cause the focus is on Tommy. I’ll speak for myself here.
It’s because Buck is a main that I’m not feeling invested with him right now. We’ll continue to see his story. We’ve been here before. Buck will be sad, he’ll find a way to deal with the breakup, he’ll move on after learning something. We’ll see him happy again, guaranteed. The show has trained me on this after 8 seasons. So I know whatever sadness Buck feels, it’s temporary.
Tommy? That’s it. No more. We’ll never see if he finds a family. We’ll never see if he gets over his fears. We’ll never see him grow and get to the other side. Or maybe he doesn’t at all. We don’t know. WE. DONT. KNOW.
That’s why I’m feeling my heart break for this character. I want MORE. And I know I’ll never get it.
#911#yesss same#like there was so much potential#so much they could cover#and ill never get to see him finally get the happiness hes never quite believed he deserves#tommy is me and i am him#we both think we dont deserve good things#also op yes to everything in your reblog#i relate so much more to tommy than i ever will to buck#despite the fact im close in age to buck
