Hello editblr! I've noticed a pretty nasty problem in the past month (and even before then) that I'd like to talk about and address.

That problem is perisex (non-intersex) editors using shi/hir pronouns without caring that they're intersex exclusive and have a.. less than clean history behind them. I don't blame you if you didn't know this information, intersexism is still tragically rampant and the majority of people are still severely uninformed, so I thought I'd make this post.

Shi/hir was coined by furry artists in the early 2000s in order to refer to their herm-slur furry porn species, meaning that even from creation shi/hir pronouns were drenched in fetishization, ignorance and intersexism, which is why some intersex people have been reclaiming them. Here (link) is a really good post, I suggest going through status-quo-hater's blog in general.

I know a lot of perisex people just see shi/hir as a 'cooler' spelling of she/her, but not only is shi/hir pronounced differently (shy/here) but there are countless other variations without the problematic history (ex: shy/hyr, shx/hxr, sh*/h*r, sh♡/h♡r, etc etc.) that shi/hir has.

I, as an intersex editor, haven't felt really safe in editing spaces online due to this issue, so I really hope more perisex editors take it upon themselves to unlearn their intersexism and become intersex allies.

Btw I really dislike it when someone makes a flag and just don't put a definition. Like. Ok I understand that trans [someshit] means you want to transition to being [someshit] BUT WHAT DOES [someshit] MEAN??? Like. No. You can't just make a transsolum flag without saying what the fuck a solum is. Or at least link a definition! It's not that hard I assure you!
