The cigarette trembles between Sirius’s lips as Remus flicks open the lighter. The sound echoes louder than it should in a parking lot behind some bar neither of them had ever meant to end up in.
Sirius leans in.
Remus watches him, he’s trying not to, but he always does.
Sirius pulls back just slightly and exhales slow, like the smoke could cover up everything they both don’t want to talk about.
Remus’s fingers are still curled around the lighter even though he should’ve let go.
Sirius hasn’t moved his hand from the top of Remus’s hand either.
“Thanks,” Sirius says, voice low with a half smile.
Remus hums. Doesn’t look away.
Remus ignores his thoughts, but it’s hard when Sirius is standing there looking like something out of a fever dream — cigarette smoke around his jaw, eyes all heavy, tired and too pretty for him to concentrate.
He leans closer, elbow resting on the edge of the car seat. “You know this is fucking stupid.”
Sirius raises a brow, lets the smoke linger between them. “Then why are you here?”
There’s a one of those long seconds that feel like hours before Sirius speaks again. Just watching Remus knowing he’s thinking too hard about something.
“So?”
Remus doesn’t hesitate. He leans in. His hands find Sirius’s jaw and he kisses him like he knows Sirius is going to make him regret this. Quiet and urgent. It’s tongues, lips and low sounds in the dark. Sirius’s hand slides into Remus’s curls and for a second, everything slows.
Remus pulls back just barely, forehead pressed to Sirius’s. “We shouldn’t be doing this.”
Sirius laughs, “That’s your problem, Moony. You keep saying that… and then you do it anyway. You want to.”
Remus doesn’t answer. Just kisses him again.
Rougher this time. Less apology, more ache. Sirius makes a low sound in his throat like after all this time, Remus still manages to knock the air out of him.
It’s messy. Uncoordinated. The kind of “I fucking hate you right know but i couldn’t stop thinking about you” kiss.
Remus’s hand gripping the collar of that same fuckass jacket he always wears, lips parted and eager, cursing Sirius’s blood in his head because of how natural it feels to fall into him like this. It makes Remus hate it so much.
Sirius breaks the kiss first, breath hitching and his voice low “I didn’t know y-“
Remus interrupts him “You gonna run again after this?”
Sirius doesn’t respond. He just brushes his thumb along Remus’s jaw.
Sirius gives a small smirk “You want me to lie or no?”
Remus looks him dead in the eye. “I’ll stay.” came from his best friend of years that he secretly sleeps with for months. If you told him that years ago he would have laughed in your face but here we are.
Neither of them believe his answer tho.
They don’t say anything else for a while.
They just keep touching, like if they stop, it’ll all come crashing down.
Like the silence might admit what they’re both too scared to say.

harry james potter x reader
warnings: none pure fluff
summary: just harry high on liquid luck
The first sign that something was off with Harry was that he was grinning.
Not a tired smile after Quidditch. Not the smile he gave when he laughed at something. This was something else. A full, shameless Harry Potter grin — wide and completely unbothered. His green eyes were bright and he was walking through the school corridors like he’d just inherited the whole school.
You stared at him the whole time, in the middle of a hallway, and he didn’t even see you.
Just breezed past with that grin on his face.
“Hey!” you called, eyebrows drawn together. He bumped your shoulder, mumbled something and kept walking.
He stopped in a second. As if, the world shifted and he realized something was missing.
He turned.
“Hi!” he said, like you’d been gone for years. Like seeing you in this exact hallway, at this exact second, was the most joyful thing that had ever happened to him.
And he meant it. Every bit of it.
You blinked. “Hi..?” your tone was confused and more than a little suspicious.
Then he was suddenly right in front of you, stepping close, reaching up with both hands as if he’s forgotten what personal space was, and pressed a kiss to your cheek.
His hands lingered, his thumb brushed your jaw like like he was waiting all day to do this thing.
You just stood there, stunned, the warmth of his mouth still across your skin.
You weren’t unused to Harry kissing you but this wasn’t the usual soft, stolen in a corner before class affection.
“Okay…” You blinked again, feeling your lips turn into a smile. “Are you — are you high?”
His grin somehow widened. “Nope. Just… incredibly lucky.”
You squinted. “That’s not a normal answer.”
He reached into his jeans pocket, pulled out a small, clear bottle and held it up like a trophy.
“Felix Felicis,” he said cheerfully. “Took it after dinner.”
You stared at him. “You took liquid luck.”
He nodded.
“To do what, exactly? Charm everyone you bump into?”
“Nope,” he said, leaning forward, voice low.
“I’m charming like this everyday. The potion just helps.”
You groaned and buried your face in your hands. “You’re actually insufferable.”
He laughed, bright and unbothered, and hugged you with no warning, arms tight around your waist, his head dropping onto your shoulder. The sudden weight made you stumble.
“You love me, though.” he mumbled into your neck.
“Unfortunately” you muttered, heart hammering in your chest.
You pulled back enough to look him in the eye. “Why did you drink it? You were supposed to save that for, like… finals. Or sneaking into somewhere…something important.”
He tilted his head like the answer was obvious.
“To find you.”
Your heart skipped.
“I was heading to find Slughorn” he continued “but then I felt this… pull. Like I needed to turn left instead of right. So I did. And then I was here.”
You stared at him. “Harry.”
“Side quest” he said suddenly, tone bright and entirely unbothered by how confused you looked.
“Side quest?” you echoed, eyes narrowing. “Harry, what—?”
Before you could finish, he grabbed your hand — warm, confident, fingers interlacing like it was muscle memory — and started speed-walking.

harry j. potter x reader
warnings: a bit of angst, exes to idk lovers?
The Hogwarts corridors felt heavier now — like the walls themselves were holding onto some dark weight.
You hadn’t spoken to Harry in weeks, maybe months. Not since he called it off. That being with him put a target right on your back.
And after everything — after the Astronomy Tower — the whole school felt different. Quieter, almost like it was holding its breath. Everyone spoke in hushed tones, as if something sacred had been cracked wide open.
You should have gone back to your dorm, to your friends. But you didn't. Quietly walking to the seventh floor, towards that one room, the door appeared.
You paused just a moment before stepping in.
It was a dimly lit space, warmed by a low fire. An old sofa sat there, familiar. The same one you’d shared with Harry more times than you could count.
You breathed out.
And then you saw him.
Harry was curled in the corner of the sofa, elbows on knees, fingers tangled tight — like he was trying to hold himself together. His glasses slipped down his nose, but he didn’t look up.
“Harry?”
You took a cautious step forward. “I can go if—”
“No,” he interrupted, voice quick. Then softer. “Stay, please.”
You took a deep breath, crossing the room to sit on the other side. Silence settled between you—heavy, uncomfortable. Full of the words left unsaid.
You looked at him. He looked drained, hollowed out by something heavy. Like the weight of everything crashing down on him had etched itself into his skin.
“You were there,” you said softly. “With Dumbledore.”
His jaw tightened.
“I’m not asking about details,” you rushed on. “I just…I know you’re hurting.”
Something in him cracked then. Quietly, barely noticeable. But his breath caught. His hands clenched tighter. Still no eye contact.
“I couldn’t stop it,” he whispered.
Staring at him, no words being able to come out because of the discomfort, you just held your head down.
Finally, he looked at you causing you to look up and his eyes met yours.
“I let him die.”
Without thinking, you reached for his hand. He didn’t pull away.
“I keep losing people,” his voice caught. “And I don’t think I could take losing you too.”
Your heart caught in your throat.
“That’s why I ended it,” he admitted, eyes fixed on your hands. “Because I thought keeping love and all this at a distance would make everything easier”
A silence stretched out.
“Can you just hold me?”
Your breath hitched. Those words—it was so raw, so vulnerable, so entirely him. The boy who’d never really known love. The one carrying the weight of the world and still afraid it might crush him completely. The one who wasn’t sure if he was allowed to ask for something so simple.
You moved closer and wrapped your arms around him. He leaned in without hesitation, like he’d been waiting for this moment. His head settled on your shoulder.
You held him close—one arm around his back, the other threading through his hair. His breath was shaky, uneven against your neck.
After a while, he whispered again, “I miss you.”
You closed your eyes. “I miss you too.”
“I hate that I pushed you away.”
You pulled back enough to meet his gaze.
His eyes searched yours.
A soft, sad smile touched your lips. “We’re all just trying to get through this, Harry. No one really knows what they’re doing.”
He laughed softly, and jagged. “You always know what to say.”
“No,” you told him.
Hesitant to even say this, words stuck and feeling like instead of a second, hours passed “I just love you.” came out.
He looked at you as if hearing those words again was a surprise — like he thought he wasn’t allowed to anymore.
Slowly, hesitantly, he leaned in.
The kiss was gentle. Careful. Like he was scared to move too fast, afraid you might disappear. But it was real. Bittersweet, filled with sorrow and hope and everything left unsaid between you.
When you finally parted, his forehead rested against yours.
“I don’t know what’s next,” he murmured. “I have to leave soon. Dumbledore… he left me things to search for.”
