I don’t know how it took me this long to finally watch The X-Files… but spooky Mulder is now my spirit animal and emotional support conspiracy theorist. 👽

This little watercolor baby is part of my cozy art era - equal parts weird, witchy, and a little unhinged in the cutest way.

The vibes are:

- sleepy forests

- government secrets

- bones and mushrooms

and

emotional damage wrapped in a trench coat 😅

I finally got around to posting the final "Tumblr" version for my PoangSummer2025 gift exchange! This is my gift for @loubetcha . You and I are like minded in loving tending wounds, so I have Scully here tending Mulder here with calamine lotion. Apparently mulder had a tussle with some poison ivy. It is SUPPOSED to be in the woods, but I got too lazy to draw all the damn leaves. I was gonna draw a tree in the background for the final version but then I forgot until AFTER I scanned it and edited it and settled with it was not meant to be.

Mulder is also doing some heavy pining of imagining putting on some sun screen on Scully because, summer (btw the non official name of this piece is cream). I really tried to get your favourite hair styles in there, but I really, really struggle with their hair, though ironically colouring their hair was the funniest part. I also struggle drawing people and traditionally inking without fucking up (I did fix SOME of it digitally of what I could without a deep dive) I have to admit with all the talent that is in the fandom, it is a little nerve wracking posting this. I did skip a couple of steps I often take with my traditional art (I usually scan and digitally ink it, then print and then do the colouring which helps a lot on the anatomy because it is easier to flip the canvas and manipulate things. There is a few places here I messed up on that even after doing a bit of tweaking, but oh well) . I also didn't mean to make Mulder look like he is an initial D character, but here we are (got to find the truth via car races down a mountain with eurobeat playing in the background). You mentioned you like warm colours so I tried to add in yellow lighting in the highlights, but it's not super noticeable. I also tried to incorporate your answer of fun summer stuff into here too!... Even though Scully is probably eating a dreamcicle even in Mulder's imagination lol

A great part of this fandom is that I will have more of an excuse to draw people and get better at them. I feel like there is already an improvement from the last time I drew them together! It was also a lot of fun to colour with pencil crayon, which is something I haven't done in a long time!

overall I had a lot of fun with your gift lou and I was so happy to have been matched up with you! Your answers were so thoughtful and it gave me so much to work with! I had a blast reading them!

(btw sorry this took forever to post here. Didn't have access to my laptop at first, then got around to editing it there, but it was late so I made it a draft in my tumblr to post it later... then it wasn't there. I thought at first it didn't save. But now I think its probably in the drafts of my old tumblr lmao)

You mentioned this work being one of your favorites, and I saw on your profile that you allowed fanart/transformative works based on your work. I wanted to make something based on your beautiful fic—and I have to admit there are so many beautiful moments I got a little carried away and couldn’t stop wanting to draw the whole work as like a graphic novel, but I settled for this line which is one of my favorites. (Thou and I are too wise to woo peaceably!)

Everyone should check out this beautiful fic! Seriously, it’s a lovely exploration of MSR with rich prose—it’s so poetic and expertly crafted.
