So, Avatar Country. First Impressions.

Personally, I sorta feel like it’s... it’s not very Avatar. It almost feels like a small side project rather than a main album. That being said, I don’t think it’s nearly as bad as I���ve heard some people saying.

I’m not really a fan of the tracks King’s Harvest and The King Wants You, but I can really see the rest of the album growing on me after a couple more listens - which is pretty common for me. It takes a couple goes for new music to properly sink in nine times out of ten.

In essence - I likely won’t consider Avatar Country as being on par with Feathers and Flesh, and certainly not with Hail The Apocalypse and Black Waltz. But it certainly ain’t bad, that’s for sure.

Its... Interesting. Im finding myself kinda liking the album but it doesnt leave an avatar impression really. The impact it leaves is of an experimental EP rather than a full release, some tracks felt like they were leading up to a bit of an avatar signature sound either in vocals or in music but never really got there. Feel like the album was good but it was missing that edge that i listen to avatar for.

That being said, i did enjoy it a decent amount and several tracks may well grown on me though i couldn't tell you which ones by name... Having all of them with near identical titles isn't helping the identity of each track nor the album and i think thats my main issue. Its the identity crisis album...

So I accidentally forgot this post was drafted, but better late than never, right?~D

Incoming delayed seasonal post~S

So, to start things off, we had a pre-Christmas celebration with Strove’s fam, I was introduced to their odd anti-tradition tradition of having non-Christmas meals (was very good though, gotta be said).~D

Yeah that started as a joke when, when asked what we were going to eat for xmas, my brother an i took the piss and said mc donalds. That year we had proper grill style stacked burgers with all the addons, all done at home ofcourse. This year it was xmas burritos, pulled roast lamb, hummusy stuff, mint sauce, pomegranate etc.~S

Also, Strove bought me a Lightseekers deck, and one for himself so we could play it together! I had been considering getting it myself since we played it at EGX, so that was pretty nice. I broke our budget slightly to get him a Lego Beatles Yellow Submarine set since he’d seen it a few weeks earlier and completely freaked out over it like the adorable nerd he is.~D

Ok but that shit was like, the entirety of my childhood wrapped up into one nostalgia kit. I spent many many years playing with lego and listening to the beatles.~S

Due to family visiting reasons, Strove and I had to be apart for Christmas day itself...~D

Yeah, that hurt~S

...but he visited along with his mum and younger brother for New Years Eve and ended up staying overnight, so that was pretty nice. We played some board games, drank slightly too much and had a chill New Years’ Day.

All in all pretty ite, but we’re hoping we can be together for the whole thing next year. ~D

Been painting some small details on my Space Wolf infantry today, and I also primed my last Thunderwolf & rider, so they’re all ready to be properly painted now.

Once I finish my infantry off, I wanna custom-make some basic armour for my Thunderwolves, and start building my Wulfen… except that’s gonna take some work ‘cause I basically wanna repose all of em. Their default posing is kinda awkward and could definitely be cooler. So I’m gonna cut 'em up at their joints and do it my way, already got some ideas in mind.

Genuinely pretty happy with my Warhammer collection so far though. I’m probably gonna buy some more Thunderwolves, some Fenrisian Wolves and perhaps a couple Razerback transports. All that’s left to do now is actually play the bloody game…

So uh, I practically finished off my Wolf Lord when Strove and I met up this week

I still can’t believe this model turned out so good. The first Warhammer model I’ve technically finished (technically cause I still sorta wanna try some edge highlights but that’s kinda just finicky finishing touches at this point), and I’m so damn proud of it!! Had to buy some lil grass tufts, fake snow and matte varnish to finish off the look but I’d say it was worth it.

Huge thanks to Strove for being an excellent teacher. Just hope the rest of my dudes will live up to the standard I’ve set...

Doll has had this kit kicking around for, what, over a year now. Only recently did she start building and its been amazing to watch her work. Every step, drawing on suggestions of mine but being more and more proud of herself and her work. That smile just kept going and i love it. Also, this guy, with a bit of edge highlighting may well be better looking than anything ive done before... Which is simply not on... Even so, bring on the rest of the wolves, more conversion, painting and good times eh?

I’ve been considering song covers for years, and recently it’s been brought up in conversation a little more with Strove. Hhhmmmmm I kinda wanna do it but I also kinda never want to hear my own voice on recording ever (or let anyone else hear it, for that matter).
