It’s really sad how hard it is for the average person to balance skepticism and credulity. A certain amount of skepticism of experts is healthy. But nowadays people are too credulous of non experts because of all the free information/misinformation. It also seems like America doesn’t teach logic, critical thinking, sourcing, peer analysis, or the basic scientific method which we really should do as a basic logic common core.

Causation, correlation, motivation are often conflated when the average person observes patterns. People do often talk about cause and correlation being confused. But I feel like there is not a large dialogue when it comes to motivation and causation being conflated. I feel like motives are very important on large scales and small scales. It explains conspiracies and conspiracy theories. A good example would be something like a nefarious conspiracy theory. Like new world orders and cabals. So let's say there are 100 businessmen that all know each other. They end up absorbing the economy of a state and basically those 100 men own everything. The cause of their wealth can be explained as many things. The inequality of that state is caused by their absorbing of everything. But if u look at a different scenario in another state; there are 100 powerful men that are accruing power and resources. The citizens of that state notice the similarities in behavior of their 100 men and the other state's 100 men. They see a correlation and know the cause and effect of inequality. But they don't know the motivation of their 100 powerful men. And many conclusions and scenarios arise from the fact that they have knowledge of the trajectory but not the motivation of the current trajectory. They don't know to trust the 100 men and to change or to dissolve the 100 men. That would be one example. You could also flip these many ways. Or flip the power balance. In another country, a province has 100 powerful men, but they are facing a revolt from the masses. They assume the motivation for the revolt is simply inequalities, but that's not the motivation that is the cause. The inequality directly led to the revolt. But the motive would be somethin more personal or human based it's not an exact science like cause and effect. Corruption causes bad behaviors the 100 men weren't motivated to become corrupt. They were motivated by something else. Motivation is like the predecessor of cause in a scenario. And motivation isn't simple. It can be calculated or based on whims. If someone drives a car off a cliff. The turning steering wheel caused it to go off. But the motive of the person driving the care is not the same I dont feel like it is at least. but this was a rantish post so idk

Relationships

This is all I need from any personal relationship. Romantic AND platonic. Beauty, intelligence, uniqueness, chemistry. A combo of these things has always made me happiest.

Beauty is mostly superficial, but it does affect a person beyond making them look good. It affects how other people interact with them and who can connect with them. Beautiful people are treated better or nicer, aka pretty privilege. It can open doors, make a person more relatable, etc. For me I think having friends or partners who are beautiful is a self esteem boost. There is also certain aesthetic things that we can discuss, so we can match and look good together. There is a bit of romanticizing, but I think looking the part is good for people.

Intelligence is also important to me because it means that your relationships can enrich you. You can learn things from each other. Intelligence can be in anything. I prefer that my friends are book smart because I am. But openness is necessary and book smarts aren't the only type of intelligence. Intelligence means independence and power and capability and I want to know capable people.

Uniqueness is novelty. I want to feel special knowing you. I don't want to feel like I am having the same conversation over and over again, with you or someone like you. A lot can go into this, like your openness, your personality, impulses, ways of life, the list goes on. Basically though, I don't like boring or basic people. I want relationships with people willing to think and do things that are new. Looks can also be a factor in this, but looks as an extension of personality.

Chemistry is somewhat random, but I just want to get along, laugh and have fun with everyone I hold close. Chemistry is the key. Contextual chemistry is also important. The emotion or need you want filled at the moment can change. If u need a good listener or good laugh, or etc, chemistry is important.
