the complete and utter contempt so many online leftists have for disabled people is both totally disheartening and very embarrassing and frustrating. it's very clear that for all the posturing they see disabled people as annoying and that accommodating them is ultimately inconvenient and they dont want to think about it. something about this discussion just turns self proclaimed communists into fox news reactionaries. dsa using asl applause at events is bad bc it's cringe and fail, no one actually needs grocery delivery bc all disabled people are just able bodied twitter microcelebs with adhd, making jokes about how everything is ableist is okay because disabled people are annoying.

i truly don't understand it at all. how can you claim to be a leftist and see some of the most marginalized people in our society as inconvenient annoyances. so many disabled people live miserable lives not bc of their disability but bc the systems fail them spectacularly in every way and refuse to budge on it. they live on poverty pittances from uncaring governments, they beg for basic things every functioning modern society should have like ramps and elevators in train stations. and then, when all else fails, they resort to assisted suicide because the world doesnt want them to live. and somehow this is superfluous or bourgeois. atrocious mindset. absolutely abysmal. but get your jokes in about ableism on twitter.

Meanwhile Indigenous communities across the country are far more likely to be impacted by the fires and I’ve seen all of one link to a charity and about nine million memes. 🙃

my grandmother is in hospice with days left to live. when she passes, my uncle will be homeless.

she's been in decline for a while, and her income from social security has been the only thing keeping their heads above water. even with that, they were still getting pay day loans every month.

he only makes 1200 every month with disability, that goes straight into rent with nothing left over. since his heart attack, he is unable to work.

i'm raising money to try and secure him housing once she has passed. this includes first, last, security, and living expenses while we are searching for housing for him. i have no idea how long it'll take to find affordable housing, so there is no set goal or time period as of now.

i don't have enough "karma" or whatever to make posts on reddit so please don't give me "advice" like that, just reblog and don't add any tags that could get this post supressed.

We’ve been struggling a lot lately. My health has been getting pretty bad and I’m up most nights losing sleep from it. I’m very exhausted and despite my new job, we aren’t able to cover temporary shelter while I look for a place for us to live. We are out of food and I don’t have my food stamps to help with that anymore either. Help Please

My father had a stroke two weeks ago and the doctors discovered that it might have been caused by a brain tumor; he has been in the hospital since and with all the traveling back and forth, the stress and missing work to take care of him I am completely flooded right now; plus we just moved, and I have so many back bills to pay, plus new ones and transportation that I do not know what do.

I am so stressed that I’m sure I’m about to collapse at any second, so if anyone could help me with something, really anything, I would be forever grateful.

So I need help. I’ve been here before going back and forth about raising money to get out, but my parents have been controlling me for way too long. I’m 28 years old still trying to get away from my parents. This shit hurts rn, but I want out. My mental dx has been used and exploited as a reason to keep abusing me. My roommate and best friend C has been hit with one emergency after another for the past few months. She had to leave her last job due to constant sexual harassment that her bosses refused to take action on and was framed for a car accident she could not have been a part of. She is now in the middle of a legal battle to clear her name and get her license back. She's already been struggling to keep up with bills and lawyer fees, and a few days ago she had a seizure/heatstroke and now may have to pay out of pocket to see a doctor to figure out what's happening. She is starting a new job soon after a grueling job search but won't be paid for a while and needs money for essentials and bills in the meantime. Anything people can spare would be a tremendous help.
