Day 1/100- Nov 14- Mon
Trying to flesh out my SOP from the edits I got from my folks… it’s been daunting since I’m unable to find a good framework narrative without it sounding cliched…
Planning to put together a ppt and meet my advisor today, let’s see how that pans out. I have been anxious about it and have been procrastinating it for a while now.
Hopefully I make it through today and am productive.
Just reading a paper right now to finesse my question of purpose.
Song of the day:
On repeat 🔂

Day 10/100- Nov 23- Wed
Half the week is over and I feel lazy and useless… gosh damn it.
I didn’t feel like doing anything today but still made myself come to my lab for the microscopy time I booked since it’s super crowded and I can’t try to change timings or make it up later…
I’m hoping to go back home and just finish some of my tasks for my courses. Today. I have to work it.
My avengers travel mug is keeping me sane with caffeine for now….
Song of the day:
This song accurately describes how I’m not enough how much ever I keep trying to jump hoops for everyone’s expectations of me 😑

Day 17/100- Dec 2- Fri
Why is time moving this fast?
I didn’t get much done in terms of studying today but got much lab work done, setup for the genetic crosses for the week and made sure I did all I can so I can stay home guilt free tomorrow and go in on Sunday instead.
Even took time to go see my prof today and phew, I can see a tonne of work brewing up for this weekend!
The trick I need to master here is to hit the bed right now and make sure I wake up at a normal morning time tomo, eat healthy and NOT be intimidated by the lots of tasks… just gotta… bunch it all up into smaller tasks and get going and finish it!!
Just trying to get the courage to work smart and hard in the next few days, but I will be fine. I have to!!
Song of the Day:

My #1 post of 2022
Hey I found the #studychallengewithcleo by @that-premed-student and decided to go for it!
Today I’m continuing to work on my Thesis committee meeting presentation right now. Been at it since morning and I’m sure I crossed the 6 hour mark a while back haha
I’m definitely taking breaks in between, and eating food and drinking water/beverages (do be kind to yourself and take care of yourself even if you are stressed)
So currently my work for today is:
Finish analysing my final dataset
Include those graphs on my ppt
Finish including all the info from the tagged papers on my ppt
Make a script and read it 3-5 times before retiring for the night
And ofc overthinking and writing down any Qs I could be asked in that meeting tomorrow and looking up and keeping track of those answers separately.
I think my list is doable… I am hoping my presentation tomorrow goes amazingly well and my committee members greenlit me for my final semester without any issues.

If you're applying for office jobs and you're lying about being proficient in Excel (which you always should bc nobody knows anything and google is free) a handy video to give you the basics on Excel's functionality is Joel Sposky's You Suck at Excel Video. It's about an hour long and gives you enough background info to know what people are talking about when referring to Excel, and from there you can do your own further research. There are also handy little guides and notes people have taken on the presentation that go over the highlights here and here <3

I've seen a lot more people coming on Tumblr who are starting their coding journey, which is great! If you're just starting out with coding, here are a few tips that can help you get started and improve your skills:
1. Start with a language that is simple and easy to learn - These languages are designed to be beginner-friendly and will help you get a feel for the basics of coding. E.g. Python
2. Work through tutorials and online courses to learn the fundamentals of programming - There are many free resources available online that can help you get started, such as Codeacademy and Khan Academy.
3. Practice, practice, practice! - The more you code, the better you will get. Try to solve problems and write small programs on your own to improve your skills.
4. Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it - There are many online communities, forums, and subreddits where you can get help and support from other programmers.
5. Keep learning and expanding your knowledge - As you gain more experience, try to learn new languages and technologies to broaden your skillset and improve your ability to solve complex problems.
I hope this helps and happy coding! 💻👍🏾❤️

A bit of rotation in Physics
I still have a bit of Sequence and Series left. Will sleep after completing it.

Day 21/100- Dec 6- Tue
This sem moving too fast and it’s almost over now! Phew!
I managed to complete the final assignment for one of the 3 courses I took this sem.
Another two assignments for one of them are due on Monday (though I’ll try to finish it by Tom), and the final exam for dev neuro is on Tuesday (I’m anxious for this one)
Just trying to keep up with all the work that’s going on during finals week…

Day 20/100- Dec 5- Mon
I took this weekend off… mostly…
I did complete assignments that were due over the weekend…
I took time to organize my wardrobe and room. Went for a Christmas party on Saturday.
This morning the intrusive thoughts were too bad but somehow I survived and did what I needed to.

Things I did:
Gravitation revision
Gravitation numericals
Gravitation short notes
Attend class
Chemistry organic table practise
Chemistry homework
Botany notes
Transport in plants revision
Properties of solids- till type of strain
🎶 Only time by Enya

Day 17/100- Dec 1- Thurs
Y’all my friend/classmate told me that I have been doing so well this semester with academics since last year (our first) and she was apparently telling her labmate about my improvement and how I may have overcome a learning curve…
I just 🥹
Positive validation is so important!!!!!
I took time to recuperate after yesterday’s crazy… and ended up blacking out for 8 hours when I wanted to take a 30 mins nap lol.
But all said and done, I’m still on track which is great! I was even able to get in some studying done today at the library for my dev neuro final less than two weeks away… so that’s good!
I need to finish up a reflection paper draft by tonight so I can go meet my advisor tomorrow without to get some feedback.
I hope I continue to keep on track the next two weeks

Day 16/100- Nov 29- Wed
The dreaded thesis meeting is over and it was dreaded indeed.
I was always told not to register negative feedback as emotions and make myself feel double worse about it…
But right now I’m questioning my abilities as someone who thinks they can do science or be a researcher.
Or maybe it’s the current subject that I’m working on (that I have no reason to be interested in and that I don’t think I’m able to make myself interested in till now… this needs to change)
I need to be so on top of my stuff. I need to obsessively make myself become a machine and make myself an expert in this topic and prove my mastery.
Literature reading and background stuff separately vs. Writing separately then going back and verifying what I wrote will give make a comprehensive strategy as my thesis committee prof suggested.
I need to stop feeling sorry for myself and make myself become a scientist even if I find myself currently to be severely lacking in that sense.
God I hate myself right now but I need to not because I need to get myself on board and fulfil this agenda and get my degree.
