good chrome extensions for students (free)
find sci paper: for when academic materials are behind paywalls
forest: you’ve probably heard of the forest mobile app but this 100% free chrome extension allows you to function off of a blocklist or an allowed lost to stop you getting distracted!
video speed controller: do you have to watch videos on a platform that doesn’t have speed control? be it assigned watching, class replays, whatever, you can adjust the speed with this extension. it also is good if you watch stuff super fast because it can go up to 10x speed and you have so much control
swiftread: helps you read long chunks of text quickly by putting them up on screen a certain amount of words at a time (your choice) at a certain speed (words per minute) so you can read the text more quickly. it also highlights letters and stuff to help your brain take everything in and is generally a huge help with focusing (and this is coming from someone with adhd so bad it was a major factor in me dropping out of high school)
podcastle ai: this turns chunks of texts into “podcasts”. it’s a computer generated voice but it’s not as painful as built in ones. you can change the voice and speed and a couple of other things
PostureMinder: this will save your back! you set intervals for posture reminders and reminders to get up and walk around, set if you want them to make sound, etc. it’s completely free and amazing. i shorten the posture reminder intervals because my default posture is horrible
OpenDyslexic for chrome: it makes stuff dyslexic font! there are other chrome extensions that can change the font to dyslexic and mess with background and text colours but this simplistic one works best for me. I’m not dyslexic but struggle with processing so I turn this on on bad processing days
MyBib: free citation generator: this is a LIFESAVER. it automatically generates citations/references for you in pretty much any referencing style. I don’t use it as much now but before I got better at referencing this thing was the best. Remember to check the info though! It’s not always right (any citation generator will have this issue)
bonus round
Shinigami Eyes: so this isn’t a study one but it’s good to have and can help you avoid transphobic sources if you’re searching on certain platforms. It highlights names of people and sites to show if they’re trans friendly or transphobic.
also, workona is one to look at! it recently changed free access to be limited which is why i didn’t include it in this list (note: it’s so useful that i chose to pay for full access when they announced the change). it helps keep track of tabs and has built in feature to set up to do lists for workspaces and all sorts of useful stuff

most of these apps should be available on ios, android, and on the computer. some of these apps might cost money on some phone operating systems, though.
productivity, school & focus:
forest - super cute app that plants trees in your forest. it makes sure you don’t use your phone while doing your work.
todoist - my FAVORITE to do list app by far! the design is so beautiful + simple, and it detects due dates really easily as you type them in. you also get karma by completing/creating tasks which helps motivate you to do more.
dropbox - the best app to store all of your files, you can access your files through any of your devices
google calendar - self-explanatory, but it’s just a calendar to keep track of upcoming events
inbox / gmail - this is another self-explanatory app, but it’s just your e-mail to get emails from school or personal ones. inbox is a more simplistic version of gmail that i love to use, it has to-do lists/reminders and more!
drive / docs / all of the google apps! - another great way to store files for school or personal stuff!
clearfocus (android) - a pomodoro timer!
camscanner - you can take pictures and turn them into pdfs
myhomework / mystudylife - these are two amazing online planners for school! i LOVE to use online planners because i don’t have enough space in my school planner.
wordreference - language dictionary for multiple languages
quizlet - online flashcards, good way to study vocab
duolingo - amazing way to learn languages
khan academy - i’ve been using this website for years and it’s finally now an app! it has many videos and exercises that help me when i don’t understand something in class.
keep - reminders or to-do lists synced to your google account!
jot (android) - easy way to write anything down quickly on your phone
photo:
vsco - an amazing (FREE!) app w/amazing filters!!! a lot of people in the studyblr community use this app to edit their photos
afterlight - this is a pretty good app to edit your photos with! it has many filter options and i love the light leaks & dust effects
health:
clue - the best period tracking app that i’ve ever used. it tracks more than just your cycle like your sleep/skin/well-being, etc! it is also very beautifully designed!
runtastic - if i ever bring my phone while i run, i like to use this app to track how much/long i’m running (for).
sleepyti.me (apple/android) - this is a great app to help you wake up at a certain time. it is based off of sleep cycles, so you don’t feel tired when you wake up.
stop, breathe & think (apple/android) - i love using this on the computer & my phone when i’m stressed. it is a free meditation app that helps me relax and think
headspace - another meditation app but after a few sessions you have to pay
water drink minder (android) - i’m really bad at drinking water so this helps me keep track of how much i drink & it constantly reminds me to drink more
charity miles - this app donates money to a charity of your choice when you run/bike/walk a mile
bluelight filter (android) - it is a screen filter that makes the brightness of the phone screen darker/less harsh on the eyes
music:
spotify - my personal favorite music app! you can discover new artists, follow your friends, and create your own playlists
8tracks - you can make your own playlists/listen to others’ . it’s a great way to find new music.
soundcloud - this has a lot of covers/remixes/mash-ups and such :)
pandora - you type in an artist/genre/song and they create a radio station for you!
shazam - you just press the shazam button and it’ll tell you the title of the song if you don’t know it
coffitivity - the coffee shop sounds boosts creativity and is great to listen to while studying
computer:
momentum - it’s a “new tab” extension that many people in the studyblr community have. it has beautiful backgrounds and you can have a to do list on there
lanes - it is another “new tab” extension that many people in the studyblr community have as well. it also has to do lists, a planner, and a pomodoro timer!
f.lux - it adjusts the color of your screen so your eyes won’t get damaged by the harsh screen brightness/light
fliqlo - flip clock screensaver that basically everyone in the studyblr community has
grammarly - it’s an app where it corrects your spelling and grammar whever you go on the web :)
games:
neko atsume (android / ios) - a really cute game where you collect cats by feeding them and filling your yard with toys! the best part is that they come to your yard when the app is suspended/you’re not using it.
pakka pets - a cute game but requires a bit more attention. it is basically tamagotchi/animal crossing/pokemon in one! the graphics are so cute :)
little alchemy - you just combine a lot of elements to make things
lumosity - it has a lot of cool brain training games. i try to use it every day. it’s really cool to see how your brain functions through these games.

✨Migraines suck✨
I guess not every day can go as planned. I currently have a terrible migraine but have more I wanted to study today.
Looks like today is going to have to be a self care day. It’s a good thing I built extra time into my study plan!

How to stay productive 😌
▫️ Write 10 goals you want to reach this year, use Present Simple. Then choose 1 goal out of 10 that will have the most significant impact on you. Write this goal on a separate paper, set deadlines, and write a plan to reach it 🎯
▫️ Always plan your days and weeks. Write tasks by priority and then by the due date 🗃
▫️ Try the ABCDE method to understand how to prioritize tasks. Write these letters near each task, and after some months, you will unconsciously begin to understand what things are more important to you based on your goals 🗂
▫️ Follow 80-20 rule "80% of outcomes (or outputs) result from 20% of all causes (or inputs) for any given event". So, after making a to-do list, find tasks that will help you reach 80% of your goals. Don't spend time on unimportant tasks 📊
▫️ Always think about results. Whether you act or not act, you need to know the consequences ⛳️
▫️ Put off things that are not of great value, consciously. Free up time for more important things ⌛️
▫️ Don't try to do everything simultaneously, don't try to reach your goal without a plan. Step by step 🔗
▫️ If you have free time and you are not tired, complete the tasks that you didn't want to do or do more on the main tasks to free up time in the future 📑
▫️ Regularly clean your study/workspace 💻
▫️ Develop your skills, engage in self-development. Analyze your work and look for your weaknesses to make them strong 😌
▫️ For rest time, choose activities completely different from your work or study. Changing activities has a positive effect on brain function 🤸🏽♀️
