not gonna lie, when i saw that a cybertruck had exploded i legit didn't realize it was some sort of premeditated thing, i just thought it was just another extreme flaw in it's design. i had no idea fireworks were involved, i honest to god thought it just did that on its own

the amount of good leather belts with extra ugly holes in them that i find while thrifting is heart breaking, though, i suspect, this is exactly why they were donated in the first place. so if you're reading this and you have a belt that is too long PLEASE don't make new holes in it with a pair of scissors! a good belt will likely have a screw that you can un-screw, like this one:
and then you cut the excess lenghth, make a new hole (it can be ugly as sin, bc it will be covered) and put everything back together! yay! and you can even customize it by changing the buckle!
though i have been disappointed before with this one:
i bought it and then realised that it can't be adjusted at all. thankfully it's almost my size, but i wanted to change the buckle. be careful i guess!
and if you really do need that extra hole, it probably can be done super-cheap at your local cobbler. OR you can buy the hole-making thingy, they're not that expensive.

a phrase that kinda bothers me when talking about women's historical roles in europe is "cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children." you hear it so often, those exact words in the same order even. and once you learn a little more you realize that the massive gaping hole in that list is fiberwork. im not an expert and have no hard numbers, but i wouldnt be surprised if fiberwork took up nearly as much time as the other three tasks combined, so it's not a trivial omission.
it's not a hot take to say that the mass amnesia about fiberwork is linked to the belittlement of women's work in geneal, but i do think there's a special kind of illusion that is cast by "cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children." you hear that and think "well i cook and clean and take care of children (or i know someone who does) and i have a sense of how much work that is" and you know of course that cooking and cleaning were more laborious before modern technology, but still, you have a ballpark estimate you think, when in fact you are drastically underestimating the work load.
i also think that this just micharacterizes the role of women's work in livelihoods? cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children are all sisyphean tasks that have to be repeated the next day. these are important, but not the whole picture. when we include all kinds of fiberwork—and other things, such as making candles or soap—women's work looks much more like manufacturing, a sphere we now associate more with men's work. i feel like women's connection to making and craftsmanship is often elided.

we all love free software. we all love free software developers. i love you, inkscape developers, i really do. but the amount of rage i felt today when i needed to use level with channel tool was immeasurable. because you know what. this thing doesn't automatically revert to default settings once you close it, and there is no reverse to default button. so unless you happened to memorise what it was when you opened it, your only option is to figure out the combination of numbers that doesn't change your image.
"why don't you just open the guide, stupid?" - you say. - "just read the instruction!"
well, you see, i did. there's a neat guide that's supposed to explain to me what all those buttons do, yeah
only when you click the "Raster" section, it doesn't tell you shit
there's just a list of available extensions with no links. like, that's literally it. fuck around and find out, i guess! thanks! comb through forums or whatever. !
i guess it's not exactly inkscape's primary function and i would be better off with corel paintshop, but come on. not even a word about those?
#inkscape#i would not be this upset if i didn't need it so urgentely so yeah it's partially on me#but come onnn give me some clues at least

Me at the store: Yes hello I would like to buy deodorant. I don’t think I am particularly stinky but just in case, I don’t want to smell too strongly in case I have to make a break for it and sweat
The store: Great! What do you want to smell like? Perhaps a flower or a baked good? A nonsensically named man smell?
Me: Nothing.
The store: No, you have to pick something. You have to smell like something. You can’t just be inoffensive. You have to be pretty. Choose your smell.
Me: Do you not have “unscented”? Or perhaps, if you must, “clean linen” and the linen was cleaned with free and clear detergent?
The store: I am going to kill you.
Me today, after choosing at random: Why Does Every Room I Am In Smell Like A Baked Good
#i had an unscented deodorant before but not one of the facy ones people mention in the notes#just a regular deodorant with no scent#and lemme tell you it DID NOT WORK#i did in fact smell#so i guess read the reviews
