How i look at this mod of a server owner after they used an excuse to the reason why their server isn't that active anymore because people have jobs and school.

I may be overreacting but pls just admit your server is dying it happens with every single one. I know people have jobs and stuff but bro before the mod became 18 it was so active and I genuinely had fun on there, and ever since that birthday they act like a. overworking busy fully grown adult, suddenly too busy with school and suddenly too busy with irl friends, and it's the exact same in the weekends. Like do they even have time anymore? And whenever they actually are online it's whenever I'm not or asleep. It bothers tf out of me while it shouldn't.

At least I'm not an American child who immediately has to get a job and worry about taxes when turning 18. So whenever someone uses that excuse, I get frustrated over it because my ass can't relate, nor with hanging out with irl friends BECAUSE I DONT HAVE ANY. Not that I need them I hate people.

SRRY I NEVER DRAW ACHT BUT I LOVE ACHT.... and... yes! this is a ship post. i ship acht and commander tartar. i understand that this pairing is highly unconventional and even controversial at a glance, but i have an explanation for the ship if anyone would like to read!!

do be warned, it's a tad wordy. it's a mix of my analysis on octo expansion's canon and my own personal speculation, as well as some headcanons and self-projections. i've been very nervous to officially draw ship art between these two because truthfully, i am worried about how my fellow fandom members will react, because i know that this ship is not picturesque and there are other pairings that are much more popular. but at the same time, i think it is a pairing with an interesting dynamic and potential, so i'm also excited to share my thoughts on it.

enough rambling there's the huge ass explanation under the cut sorry LOL

First and foremost, Acht understood what sanitization was, and wanted to be sanitized. Was open to the idea and felt that it would be beneficial for their music career. Tartar is shown to be very disciplined and strict about sanitizing and blending (only blend up the most promising specimens, sanitize those who fall short so they can be recklessly weaponized, yadda yadda), so I find it strange that it honored the request of some random Octoling. Shouldn’t that be a waste of resources/time? I doubt that it was planning to sanitize them, considering that they’re a self-proclaimed “slacker” and presumably wouldn’t make for a very effective soldier. It sanitized them regardless.

Also, Acht receives a drastically different treatment from the other sanitized. As far as we have been told, through observation and Acht’s own words, all they had to do was DJ for Tartar. No more rigorous testing following sanitization, no hurling them out into a station for Agent 8 to kill, nothing like that. Tartar was willing to let Acht indulge in their increasingly engrossing hobby, and not only that, but clearly their work had value to it if it kept them around for so long. It’s not as if Tartar had been concerned with finding a personal DJ beforehand, and this sort of arrangement was surely an afterthought. Therefore, the circumstances were obviously a bit looser and less cutthroat. Acht was able to really jumpstart their music career because of their agreement with Tartar, and their music was heard at the beginning of the Low Water Party, with many millions of attendees. Their relationship does not look to me like an imposing commander and an unyieldingly obedient subordinate. It seems more like someone collaborating with an artist and meeting said artist in the middle. He sanitizes Acht per their request, and in turn, they get to make music with renewed confidence and diligence. All they have to do is produce music for Tartar, likely as a form of repayment. This seems… like a very beneficial outcome, for a sanitization. Could Tartar have some respect or fondness for Acht? The two also have a similar disposition of being aloof, dedicated to their principles and way of life, Maybe Being Mentally Ill, and struggling to connect with others to the point of them both being complete social outcasts.

On a similar but more speculative note… Can we even be certain that Acht WAS fully sanitized? We see fully sanitized soldiers in Octo Expansion, and they’re depicted as droning zombies who obey all commands. No will of their own. Acht, on the other hand, is entirely coherent and cognizant, aware of their actions and aware of those around them. They talk on their own accord, and they’re initially shown to DJ for Tartar out of a strict dedication towards their craft. It’s described that “due to their sanitization, they do not make music considering others, instead letting what comes out of their ‘inner self’ take form.” So this music they make still embodies a facet of their identity. Art is a reflection of the self, and if Acht HAD no sense of self left, no autonomy, their art would reflect nothing. But this is not the case. The tips of their tentacles are also a striking red as opposed to the typical green hue. AND ALSO THEIR EYES LOOK NORMAL!! Is Acht only partially sanitized? It seems very interesting to me that Tartar apparently allowed them to keep their free will. If it wanted, it could’ve easily done the full procedure and commanded them to DJ for it with no room for error, but… Acht is shown to have autonomy. Why would Tartar allow this if he didn’t see some value in their presence and talent?

Just to be clear, I’m a Splatoon veteran who loves Octo Expansion, relates to Acht, and has completed Side Order. A couple of Acht’s quotes in SO are contradictory to what has already been established via past interviews, and sanitization lore feels undercooked and a bit more convoluted in that DLC imo. I do not entirely trust all of the information given within it.

speaking more headcanons now, I personally think Acht is an autistic and somewhat romance-repulsed aromantic, but does occasionally experience deeper queer feelings (I’m projecting lol). And also I hc them as being objectum SPECIFICALLY TOWARDS electronics (projecting AGAIN), so they would feel a special inclination towards Tartar. I don’t think Tartar is full blown aromantic but I DO think he’s very reserved when it comes to these things + hasn’t really met anyone that strikes his fancy, and I think Acht would strike a chord in his heart that he can’t really pinpoint. Like there’d be a mutual pining towards them that kinda goes un-pursued for a while. and even after they share their feelings they realize that a normal socially acceptable relationship could never suit them, so they kinda just have a strange vaguely queer partnership LOL

I think I'm finally starting to feel better! I've talked on the server again after avoiding it for weeks and I've accepted that it just won't be as active as it used to be, and I won't be upset nor angry about it if it actually dies one day.

There are other servers with friends who actually HAVE time to talk on there even if they have jobs or school, and I'm already happy for that YARRR!!
