MONUMENTA 2012

Daniel Buren

The Monumenta exhibition is held each year in the Grand Palais in Paris. Every year they assign an artist. This year it was Daniel Buren.

At first I wasn't very impressed, but as you walk through this forest of colour, it gets better and better... By the end of the hall I didn't feel like leaving at all. It's just an amazing space to be at. In the bookshop there was a very good book of his sketches, and what he started off with, as his idea, was so different than the final result! The great thing about Monumenta is that the artist does the installation and then they have all sorts of happenings there throughout the whole time. If you're in Paris, check it out, the last day is June 21st.

Casamania and Pudelskern

I was super excited to spot these lamps, because I talked to the designers about 3 years ago, when they were exhibiting on Salone Satellite and I told them that they have amazing things and they should really be produced. They told me back then what a pain in the ass the whole process is, that its very difficult to find a producer and that many designs just die on the way to production. I even found their catalogue from back then in one of my saloni folders. And voilà, today they are produced by Casamania! So glad this worked out for them!
