My Favorite Lines and Actions for the Nightmare Trope ™

okay this isn’t really anime related but for the past like,,,8 years i’ve been obsessed with the nightmare/nightmare comfort trope. i’ve read so many fanfics regarding it (along with movie scenes, tiktoks, etc.) and it’s all i think about. anyway here’s what the title says. feel free to use any of these for oneshots! i’d love to read them

Dedushka - a YOI oneshot thing

so i started watching yuri on ice and basically came up with a headcanon that when yuri’s especially upset, he cries in russian and asks for his grandfather. and that created the following oneshot which can be filed under “things i wrote because they’ve been stuck in my head for too long and i had to get them out”.

also for context, yuuri and victor are dating in this and have custody of yuri, complete with platonic pet names and affection.

i copy and pasted this from my notes so sorry if the formatting is weird. this is pretty shitty and the ending is a bit rushed but either way i hope you like it lmao

along with the noisy rain outside and gentle snoring from his partner beside him, soft mumbles and cries pulled yuuri katsuki from his slumber, causing him to sit up straight and tiredly rub the sleep from his eyes. as he began to wake up a little more, yuuri paid closer attention to the sound that originally woke up, trying to figure out what it could be. yuuri glanced at victor, who was dead to the world and nasally snoring away. makkachin was downstairs, so yuuri confirmed that the sound wasn’t in their room.

the whimpers and whines started again, this time louder than before. it was then that yuuri realized they belonged to none other than yuri plisetsky, russia’s ice tiger who, deep down inside, was no more than a kitten.

the blond teenager had started living with yuuri and victor just a few short weeks ago, since it was getter harder for nikolai to look after his grandson full time as he was getting older. he didn’t live far, so he was glad to be a part of his yuratchka’s life.

yuri had taken this rather hard in the beginning, almost flat out refusing to live with the old man and the piggy, seeing them be all lovey and affectionate with each other. and it was the same for yuuri and victor as well, trying to maintain a relationship and care for a moody teenager at the same time.

but over time, the three of them made it work. pet names soon started being used, which, surprisingly, yuri didn’t seem to mind too much. they made him feel protected in a strange way.

and through everything, they’re all still learning.

which is why at that moment hearing yuri crying and whimpering in the dead of night, yuuri decided to wake victor for help. he sat up and brushed dark strands of hair away from his face, then gently shook victor’s shoulder.

although a heavy sleeper, victor woke up immediately to see his partner looking distressed. after mentally waking up some more, the russian man positioned himself up closer to yuuri.

“what’s wrong красотка (gorgeous)?” victor yawned, pressing a kiss to the younger japanese man’s forehead.

yuuri opened his mouth to answer, but was interrupted by another sob from yuri’s bedroom. with a more uncomfortable look appearing on yuuri’s face, victor could tell why yuuri woke up him.

“poor yura, i wonder what’s upsetting him...” victor yawned again as he climbed out of bed and made his way to yuri’s room in an instant, yuuri following just behind.

when the two men entered the spare bedroom where the young russian teen was staying in, their hearts broke at the sight of yuri, who was laying on the bed starfish style as he tossed and turned on his sleep, sweat coating his forehead and his body trembling. he was mumbling incoherent words in russian, which even victor couldn’t comprehend properly.

hesitantly, victor approached yuri’s sleeping figure and stroked the blond’s hair gently as a way to wake him up. yuuri followed in suite, simply turning the bedside lamp on so yuri wouldn’t be scared when he woke up. there had only been a couple other times where yuuri and victor helped yuri after a nightmare, but the two had a pretty solid grasp on what to do, although it may not be perfect.

after a few moments of victor whispering sweet nothings in russian to yuri to calm him down, gentle green eyes opened as yuri jolted awake, hot tears running down his cheeks and his heart practically beating out of his chest.

“d-dedushka (grandpa)?” was the first thing yuri sobbed out after he woke up. yuuri’s heart shattered even more at the sound of the young boy crying out for the only other loving adult relationship in his life.

victor, trying to hold back tears of his own, took in a shaky breath and swallowed hard before pulling yuri into a hug.

“oh darling, he’s not here, i’m sorry.” victor whispered, stroking the blond’s hair again. “it’s victor and yuuri. you had a nightmare but you’re perfectly safe now yuratchka. we’ve got you..” yuuri nodded in agreement, wiping some of yuri’s tears away and rubbing circles into his back, all while yuri was still being held by victor.

yuri sniffed and whimpered louder, shaking his head frantically as he buried his face into victor’s shoulder. “dedushka, dedushka, dedushka…” he cried, making it clear as to who he wanted right now.

the sliver haired man shot a ‘should we actually call him?’ look at yuuri, who nodded almost immediately. the japanese man kissed yuri’s temple comfortingly before heading back to his own room to get his phone.

yuuri was quick to dial nikolai’s number, then placed it to his own ear and waited. once nikolai answered, he explained everything before handing the phone to yuri, who was still hysterical.

within seconds, yuri’s cries died down just slightly, now simply reduced to soft whimpers and quiet sniffs. he was still mumbling in russian, but it was less panicked than earlier.

after a few short minutes, yuuri could tell that yuri was starting to doze off, and whatever nikolai was saying on the other line seemed to be working. victor noticed too, and carefully put the call on speaker phone.

it was at that moment when the two older men realized that nikolai was just talking to yuri in russian to calm him down, and before they knew it, yuri was passed back out on his bed.

victor smiled and took the phone, letting nikolai know that yuri had fallen back asleep and thanked him for helping. after hanging up, victor pressed a small kiss to yuri’s forehead. “спокойной ночи Юра (good night yura)…” he whispered.

yuuri pulled the covers back over yuri’s sleeping figure, then stroked his hair gently before turning to look at victor. “think he’ll be okay the rest of the night?” he whispered.

victor nodded, looking at yuuri’s phone in his hand. “we got this. and extra help is only a call away.”

Haikyuu Headcanons 2: Electric Boogaloo

(most of these are about noya bc i luv him)

- tsukki loves eggs. hard boiled, deviled, egg salad, you name it

- noya is an eminem fan

- noya is obsessed with christmas and will decorate before halloween

- tadashi started calling tsukki “specs” bc he heard ukai call takeda that and thought it was cute

- kenma just naturally acts like a cat (sleeps a lot, food driven, will knock shit over, sometimes even gets picked up like a cat)

- kenma was completely unaffected by the pandemic. he hates socializing

- nishinoya usually ends up being the first one to go to sleep and the first one to wake up every morning

- noya also gets nightmares a lot from being so hyperactive and energetic

- noya has a pet chihuahua and barks when it barks😭

- noya is very close with his three sisters but he the became close to saeko once the oldest moved out and he was sad

- tsukishima wears headphones without any music playing so he’ll be left alone

- tsukki turns the wifi off sometimes so he can play the dinosaur game on chrome
