I absolutely love storytelling through design and when character design changes as the character grows

It's great as a creative exercise but also means that I have like 4 different designs for the same characters anyways onto fanart

Horns get longer and curvier as they grow, fully curving after fight with narinder

Their face changes to a more mature grown up one from a young adult one

The collar lines are meant to symbolise a split neck

The cape is meant to look like a flower from above with the edges resembling petals(I'll draw that too)

and yeah I absolutely hate drawing the crowns they're so weird

When they get angry they accquire sharp teeth, slit pupils and the markings on the horns open up to reveal eldritch eyes

Also they'll get a second set of horns after full ascension, rn it only grows out when they really pissed off

I really do struggle drawing the lamb more than Narinder, herbivores are just difficult to draw for me Or maybe I've had more experience with drawing cats since I was in the warriors fandom

I'm pretty happy with how these doodles came out it took a lotta trial and error to get to a point where I was happy with the designs

I took a lot of inspiration from caterpillars on this, it symbolises that he's still quite immature(being the bishop of chaos and all you can just do whatever you want and not think of consequences) and that immaturity is a big flaw holding him back

I feel like Stella is more of a Pet Ex Machina than an actual pet character, like her abilities or relationships with our main cast or personality isn't really explored in the story, we don't even know what she is or how Rayla even got her she's just there to save the day at appropriate plot moments

Like she's cute and I like pet characters but it's pretty clear she's just there for the sake of plot convenience

Why do you even need a key if you have a portal-making pet?

I mean, fine, OK, let’s assume it can’t make one big enough for Rayla.

Why did she need to bump into Callum to get his key? The pet could just teleport it out of his pocket, no?

It just feels like this little dude’s powers should be world-breaking but they aren’t, I guess until it becomes convenient for the creators that they are?

Or is there a soft retcon going on and it can now hide things in some separate dimension but not actually make portals across space?

The Dragon Prince Season 5: The Missed Potential of Scumport

Aight so I recently watched the 5th season of TDP and while I enjoyed it a great deal more than Season 4 I still have a few issues with it

The biggest one being that some of the things in the plot just..... don't seem to matter that much? Like they'd setup for something and then completely ignore/forget about it in the show?

Finnigrin was the best part of this season no doubt there, but I felt the Scumport plot lacking somewhat

Like why even make Ezran go to Finnigrin for the ship if they planned for Villads to help the gang?

Just so Ezran can steal those three baby glow toads(that's still pretty stupid to steal from the shady guy running a brutal, lawless place) and get Finnigrin to follow them?

Why tell us that he wanted to kill Domina Profundis when she's such a nothing character this season and no confrontation even happens? Like Finn gets killed before the finale and Domina doesn't matter enough for the audience to care or be interested in that aspect of the plot

Like there were better ways of getting Finnigrin to chase them, I thought that they were initially setting up for Ezran & Zym to steal Finn's fastest or second fastest ship & use Villads to steer it

Could you imagine what it would have been like if they stole his main ship and then Finnigrin chased after in his second fastest one and when he had them in view he just whistled and the "ship" suddenly turned and stood showing the audience it was a crab all along (I still liked the reveal in the show tho)

There's also the whole deal with dark magic this season, we saw more elves willing to use/associate with dark magic or adjacent practices to achieve their goals, Karim, Finnigrin, Kim'Dael

(Terry maybe in the future seasons?)

Here's my ideas for the Scumport thing

Finnigrin is the first elf we've seen in the show that deliberately wants to use dark magic(well maybe except the Bloodmoon huntress but it's not exactly clear if the "blood magic" is supposed to be "dark magic")

It would've made much much more sense for Scumport to be a DARK MAGIC HUB where you could purchase and trade in goods used for dark magic

This would also increase the sense of danger in the place if most of the people there were dark magic users, Raya's whole comment about keeping a low profile & the other comment about everyone paying their dues to Finnigrin, there's no need for tension or to be scared for our heros in Scumport if it's just filled with snake oil salesmen

It would also make sense for why Finn wants Bait, maybe adult glow toads are excellent for some dark magic rituals & the little ones don't have much value or take too long to grow

Ezran's decision to save them would much more sense if they were going to be used in dark magic or the leviathans that they'd catch would be used in that way

Also make the gang actually steal one of Finn's ships, or if you really wanna include Ruthless, have Villads be indebted to Finn so he's actually trapped there and Finn has the control of his ship and then they can steal it from him

Make Domina Profundis more relevant this season, it's named Water so the Archdragon of the Ocean should play a bigger role, have Zubeia get injured early on and Domina can serve as our mentor for this season, set up her dislike for dark magic and conflict with Finnigrin/other dark magic users/Scumport and have a failed attempt for assassination by Finn in the finale

The Scumport subplot was the more interesting of part of this season so make it matter more dammit

My Illustrations for an incredible short story written by a good friend of mine: a tale of two rival clans settling a debt, in a trial by blood and fire….

“The two clans gathered as the singing moon set, leaving its brother framed by the indigo of dying day. There was little discussion, only lines of tension across antennae and heads holding violent eyes. Only the occasional, nervous trill from a child broke the silence.

The clan to the southeast, those of the Tayenna river, parted to allow their matriarch forward. Like her kin, her fur was near the color of the clay riverbank they lived upon, lightly flecked. She was richly adorned with polished shells set into lattices of wood running along her chest and back, treasures many years of leadership had afforded her. She stood in front of her people, canting her head so only one red eye observed the clan opposite.

They of the Keeshor valley bristled at the arrogance. Their leader was already at the front, as bay as Tayenna’s matriarch, though his coat was solid in pattern and youth, and he wore simple paint. He took several solid strides forward to meet the matriarch, both eyes fixed on her….

So Exactly 2 years back, on 6th of September 2018, The Supreme Court of India decriminalized consensual sex between consenting adults of the same gender- which was a punishable offense under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.

This was considered a huge achievement for the LGBTQ+ community. We saw people celebrating on the streets, outside the court, in the confines of their homes- wherever they could, really. People dancing, singing, laughing, being themselves openly. It was heart touching. I got kind of teary eyed while watching it. The community has based itself on the ideas of "Love Wins" and "Love is Love." But has love really won?

Let us first understand that the right to have sex in the confines of one's bedroom (i.e/aka private space) with a consenting adult has been achieved/earned by the community after the tireless efforts of several activists, lawyers and common people. It is sad that something so basic was considered a crime, if done between consenting people of the same gender, and a privilege, if between consenting heterosexual people.

Now, has love really won? Consider the following:

wlw/mlm marriage is still not legally recognized in India. (It isn't illegal or a crime. It just isn't legally recognized).

wlw/mlm couples still can't legally adopt children. Of course, single parents can- but as a couple, no!

Conversion therapy is still legal in India. The Govt has done nothing to prevent/abolish it.

Queer people cannot serve in the military.

And most importantly, how could we, as a community, let phrases like "love is love" and "love wins" define us? There is so much more to us than that. We still need to fight for the abolition of draconian, unethical laws like the Transgender Persons Protection Act 2019 that erase their right to determine their own identity, forces them to get a certificate of being trans from the Govt and forces them to live with their parents, which could be very toxic and unsafe for trans kids, and more.

We need more provisions for housing, livelihood and educational facilities for the trans and intersex communities. We need the legal recognition of the non binary identity. We need more recognition and protection of intersex people. We need gender neutral toilets for everyone. We need a Govt that is responsive to the needs of the community!

And this is only the legal aspect. I can go on and on about the social aspect- Queerphobia in the Indian society. About the suicides of people belonging to the lgbtq+ community. About the hate we face. About people's ignorance, indifference and about people being unwilling to listen to us. Of course, some people can be incredibly kind and accepting, and that is always nice to see and appreciated.

So this 6th September, while we appreciate and celebrate what our activists and allies have achieved for us- what we have achieved for ourselves, let us also acknowledge that we have a long way to go, and some very serious matters to achieve. We must not forget that we have a lot more to achieve for our trans/non binary communities, and for ourselves. Happy 6th September! 🏳️‍🌈

Let's start with the oldest wlw indian movie (i know of)

1. FIRE (Movie - 1996) : By Deepa Mehta; Sita and Radha are young Indian women whose husbands choose celibacy or mistresses over their wives. This leads them to form an intimate, passionate relationship amidst a close-minded society.

2. The Married Woman (Series - 2021- Zee5 and AltBalaji) : Astha sets out on a journey of self-discovery and meets Peeplika on the route. Astha sets herself free from the society pressures and boundaries when she finds an intense connection with Peeplika, something that she always longed for.

3. Ajeeb Daastaans (Short Film - 2021 - Netflix) : Geeli Puchi; The short film on Netflix anthology ‘Ajeeb Dastaan’ talks about caste, sexuality, privilege and patriarchy in a powerful way.

4. Sheer Qorma (Short Film - 2021) : This film by a Non - Binary director, Faraz Arif Ansari and starring a Non-binary character as a lead, is a romantic drama that showcases how love is judged in society based on gender and how people have preconceived notions about sexuality. It has Swara playing the role of a Pakistani-Canadian citizen who travels to India with her lover (Divya Dutta). But Dutta’s mother, played by Shabana Azmi, finds it difficult to come to terms with her daughter’s choices.

5. Margarita with a straw (Film - JioCinema - 2014) : A rebellious young woman with cerebral palsy leaves India to study in New York. On her journey of self-discovery, she unexpectedly falls in love.

6. Ek Ladkhi Ko Dekha Tho Aisa Laga (Movie - Netflix- 2019) : Sweety hides a secret about her true love and decides to marry a writer to please her father, Balbir Chaudhary. However, chaos ensues when she decides to fight her family and society to win her love.

7. Firsts Season 3 (FilterCopy - YouTube- 2020) : Ritu and Lavanya are two women in their twenties who start living together after their second date, finding themselves in a series of firsts as they navigate life, love and more during the lockdown.

8. The Other Love Story (Web series - 12 episodes - YouTube - 2016) : The plot, set in the late 1990s/early 2000s, revolves around the relationship between two girls in an era when there were no cell phones or internet.

9. Mismatched (Netflix - Series - 2020) : Has a plotline with a wlw character. Set in a college/university summer coding program.

10. Feels like Ishq - She loves me She loves me not (Netflix - 1 episode - 2021) : A closeted advertising associate falls for an out-and-proud colleague, but her subtle efforts to confess her feelings don't go quite as planned.
