My Grandpa is Also My Dad’s Dad

Sometimes I forget that my grandpa is my dad’s dad. As a child I wouldn’t always be on board with driving to my grandparents’ house. I would throw tantrums, scream, and be unruly.

“I don’t need to see Grandma and Grandpa!” I would shout at my dad stomping my feet. No matter how hard I protested, the car would still pull into their driveway three hours later. Those visits wouldn’t be the greatest.

Now as an adult, I realize that those trips to Grandpa’s were not just about us kids. My dad missed his dad just as much I miss mine now that I’ve grown up and moved out.

I think we need to adjust our approach to showing people new shows/movies that they need to watch. Don’t show them season one episode one. Or the opening scenes to your favorite movie. Show them the exact moment in that show or movie were you knew that this was going to be your next hyper fixation. That’s way better than saying. “It’s a really great show you just have to get past *blah blah blah*.”

Idea for book scene or screen play:

One friend of FMC is an artist. FMC and crew have an annual pride night to celebrate another friend’s coming out and subsequent cut off from family. Each year is themed and year’s is pantheon b/c Celebrated friend is pansexual. Celebrated friend surprises entire group with professional found family photos. It’s the 7th year of this Pride tradition and Celebrated friend’s favorite number is 7. The group also model the hand made customized tiaras celebrated friend made for them. That’s celebrated friend’s job, she’s a metal worker/jeweler. They take the photos and FMC takes *the* photo. The one where she looks like her thigh tattoo of Venus on a throne relaxed in power legs a little spread in a dress with two slits while she’s petting a bull. Art friend then takes the next two weeks oil panting *the* photo to end all photos. This scene starts as the Art friend is gifting the painting to FMC at FMC’s house .

AF: *knocks*

FMC: *opens front door* Hel—

AF: hey I made you something. *struggling under the weight of her creation.* lemme in so I can set it down. *huff*

FMC: you made me a heavy rectangle? *obvi joking*

AF: no silly. It’s what’s inside the heavy rectangle that I made. *sets down said rectangle* G’head, open it *name*.

They both do that for several minutes before FMC’s Brother and FMC’s grumpy love interest and brother’s co worker bust through the garage door obviously thinking FMC and AF was in danger. Only to see both FMC and AF in a pile still laughing. Taking occasional breaks to gasp calm down then make eye contact with each other and return to their fits of hysterical laughter. Grumpy observes the scene. He can’t help but to grin. Exercising muscles that seem to only be of use when in the same room as FMC.

G: *in the most comforting voice* what’s so funny? *eyes roam about the room and he spots THE painting. He swallows* woah

I think the moment Piper Halliwell officially stepped into the “oldest sister roll” was S5:E6 when she’s telling Phoebe there “is not an evil bone in your body”.
