brushed up on my french a little bit today with vocab review!🇫🇷 I had the opportunity today to speak with a native french person! i learned so many new and useful words.

because sometimes the idea of studying is too daunting to face, and mixing up your environment to make it more fun can make all the difference

too punk to quit: shorts and a band t-shirt, homework spread out over the floor, a can of soda or a shitty energy drink, and a playlist of your favorite throwback songs on full volume

sleepover: a nest of blankets and pillows, your comfiest pajamas, popcorn  and gummy worms, everything you need within arms reach, not leaving this spot for hours (or days) until you’re done with all of your work

no distractions: sitting at a desk with nothing but a glass of water and a computer, hair pulled back, typing up notes from the school day

my life is a mess: hot tea, a comfy sweater, all of your papers sprawled out on the floor around you, finally going through and throwing out all of the stuff you don’t need anymore and hoping that you’ll be a bit less overwhelmed once you’re done (spoiler alert: you’re gonna feel so much better)

rise and shine: early morning, at a table or in the kitchen, drinking orange juice and getting a head start on some assignments

am i a scholar yet: at your favorite library, revising or taking notes on readings, classical music playing with headphones on and a bag of almonds to snack on

growing up is overrated: doing homework at a friend’s house, cartoons on the tv or your favorite playlist on shuffle, sharing gossip and solutions to math problems

low key im excited for school to start back up again!! i know im gonna regret saying that the second week in though haha. junior year.... im ready for it to fuck me up. ACTS SATS APS fuck hahahahhahahahah. my classes are so hard this year wish me luck when i get my schedule in a week!!

it is summer i have been waiting for this FOREVER but lmk WHY I AM STILL OBSESSING OVER SCHOOL like i keep thinking about my classes next year and i impulsively bought an ACT review book which is good but idek if the beginning of junior year is a good time to take the ACT someone lmk but i think i just dont believe the fact that i have 0 work to do so im giving myself work to do if anyone else feels this way pls hmu and let me know cuz idek. also i know by the time im a junior i will have 0 motivation lol

If you want to learn a language, learn it.

 Don’t be scared if the grammar is difficult, the sounds give your tongue a hernia, the writing system is cumbersome, or there are more empty beer cans in your house then there are speakers of that language. The worst thing that can happen is that you don’t get it. The best thing that can happen is that you see inside someone else’s heart, someone else’s soul, and most precious of all, a whole group, perhaps of billions of people, cease to be cardboard cutouts and magically turn into humans, with problems you can relate to, good news they can celebrate with you, business to conduct, and untranslatable wisdom to share. For all you know, the most powerful things you will ever say, the last goodbyes, the first life-changing I love you, the first words you say to your newborn child, for all you know, these things aren’t meant to be said in English. If you want to learn a language, learn it. Every day you choose not to, you choose to forsake those irreplaceable moments that you’ll never share, with irreplaceable people in your life that you’ll never be able to meet in English.

15.06.18 05.39am. A little recap this morning before physics. Went over everything I needed to and concluded that I know absolutely none of it, which was nice. Went back to bed for 20 minutes and learnt all of the equations on the way to the exam hall. Fell asleep in exam.

i’ll be honest: texting in french is somewhat of a nightmare. things are often written phonetically and literally nothing will look like the french in your textbook. however, just like actual french; it may be nonsense, but it’s nonsense with rules.

in general: - no apostrophes - no accents - je/tu + être and je/tu + avoir become one word je suis → jsuis tu as → tas - je + any verb can become one word je dois → jdois - objects become one word je l’ai → jlai - basically anything that can be combined is combined
