I figured it’d be fun to try & capture a few snaps of our dogs before breaking everything down after an artist shoot yesterday. Shasta (white shepherd) is fairly easily to maneuver but Spanky (rescue mutt) is really elusive and difficult to photograph in general, so I’m happy with how they turned out! They were really impatient and wanted to play after being excluded from the room for the morning shoot in the living room, so all things considered they were really good beasties to sit for a few minutes here.

Thanks to my friend Sara, we made it to the path of totality to view the Solar Eclipse this year!  Getting to and from location was totally chill (despite everyone freaking about about the impending traffic etc, it wasn’t that bad) - we camped at the Warm Springs Indian Reservation and viewed the eclipse from an elementary school at the top of a hill.  NASA was there releasing weather balloons with experiments that the local reservation kids had designed.  My teenage daughter and her friend joined us and were pleasant (imagine that!).  It only took a few hours to get home, so Sara and I went to the barn for a quick trail ride before her flight to Alaska later that evening.  Success!

It really does make a difference to be in the path of totality.  We’re already talking about going to Texas to view the next one in the US.  See you there?

Today in #Australia: my dad hand feeds this young #kookaburra on the veranda, which is super cool but I also find it a little creepy because it eats RAW MEAT. Hopefully it doesn't turn on us anytime soon 😂 Also, this is the first time I didn't lug the DSLR on the trip and instead am trying out the #Sonya6000, much lighter and easier to travel with (sadly the a7 was out of budget. I considered the g7xmarkii but decided to give #mirorless a try after chatting with photog friends & doing further research). My homeslice Kate Dawg owns @aspectboardsandbrews in Bend, Oregon and she's one of the coolest people I know! Here's an iPhone shot I grabbed of this #ladyboss a few weeks ago on our first snowboarding trip together since high school (aka 20 yrs ago), and guess what? We still got it.
