Green Goblin Fan Art
So I started this around when I playing the PS4 spider-man game and when Into the Spidery verse came out as well which I thought was fantastic! Spider-Man 1 with Willem Defoe as Green Goblin, you cannot top that and I loved the design so went out to recreate it in some sense with hint of spider verse and Fornite style. I was originally going to do the helmet and that’s it, then decided to make his hideout with little pieces on his work bench and next minute I’m carried away doing whole body.

So with Christmas finally over, the main question is, what did everyone tuck into first for there Christmas Dinner?
So I created the characters in Zbrush with inspiration from the film “Sausage Party”. I then placed them in 3DS Max where I was able to make a scene/ environment around them. For the first time I used Blender to render. I recently got talking to a coworker who was saying Blender is getting awesome now, so me being sceptical I went away and looked into it and I can safely say I am a fan now and highly recommend it!!

So its getting to that time where all the Christmas decorations come out, and if you have noticed shops sell so many Xmas nik naks for crazy amounts and not much detail to them. Of course my Mum being one of them will buy them. So I decided to use my 3D powers and create a snowman light during my work lunch hour. I enjoyed doing it because with 3D printing you don’t need to have clean topology or wireframes, so Boolean away!! (And yes, my desk is filled with all geekyness models) I am happy with how it came out and 3D Printing is the future. Might start making more little trinkets for fun.

Not sure if you know, but a video game called Fortnite is the latest craze at the minute and even I’m hooked on this battle royale game. I’ve even got half the office to play it! I came across some official Fortnite weapon concepts from EPIC games and this axe above caught my eye. Its from the Vindertech pack. So I have made a hard surface model of the Axe and then I have created a low poly version so I can bake the high poly onto the low poly. After I’ve done that I’ll take it into substance Painter. Here are some quick renders of it. Some parts I will have to clean up but quick fixes.

And here we have it, a finished game model! (Concept by “Robert Hodri” ) Not really dived as much into sci-fi futuristic art as much but I had a fun time modelling this and creating the textures within Substance Painter so may do more sci-fi down the road. Now onto what else tickles my fancy!

Just a quick update and screen grabs while I’ve had free time. So in my previous post I made a high poly model and once that was done I moved on to making the low poly version out of it as the high poly would not be acceptable for games. Once I was happy with my low poly and unwrapped it, I baked it in Substance Painter and It came out alright if I say so myself. Had to tweak a few things here and there though and no doubt I’ll probably find something along the way but such as life! Have to move onto texturing it now, so have to see when I can find free time for that haha

Belated Happy New Year! So being busy with many games and work, I’ve decided to do a small prop which is a sci-fi door floor latch. I came across a Doom Concept which I thought looked awesome. I believe the concept was done by “Robert Hodri”. So credit to him! I created the high poly by doing hard surface techniques. My goal now is to make a low poly version of it, by simply removing the support edges that are not necessary and then bake it. Theoretically the Normals should come out fine as the edges will be chamfered and there is added geometry to help the normals to give it that effect of the high poly but of course there will be some normal clean up no doubt. Hopefully be done very soon if life doesn't get in the way!

I don’t normally post this kind of stuff but I think it’s related to what I do and thought you guys might want to see it! I attended the Tokyo Game Show 2017 as well as the VR Zone in Shinjuku just a few days ago.
Tokyo Game Show
If you’re in Tokyo when this is on, then I say it’s worth going to and it is surprisingly affordable! It is very similar to other game shows you might have been to in the past but still worth going to if you like games. I got to see many popular titles that were on display as well as other titles I have never heard of before that seem to only stay in Japan. From what I saw I think it was Monster Hunter World that dominated the game floor as well as booths. I have sadly not played Monster Hunter before but from what I saw I was truly impressed and how awesome it looked so I think I will look into picking it up when it’s out.
Wolfenstein II didn’t have a big booth but it did catch a large crowd from how epic it looked. I stopped to have a look and it was just a few people and when they showed Nazis getting shot-gunned to the face and so on, I looked round and everyone had literally stopped to look at it! I tried to get on Sonic Forces but the queues were far too long to the point that they were not letting anyone in.
You can spend the whole day there but realistically you probably only drag out a couple of hours. If you go first thing in the morning expect to be queuing for hours but if you go later in the day you can easily walk in but don’t count on playing any games though! Also, you get a lot of swag!
In my personal opinion, overall, I do say Japanese game developers are far superior than western game developers. They take more risks and yes, some games do look bizarre but it’s a nice change than the same post-apocalyptic shooters which I haven’t got a problem with though. I know and have seen it for myself that west developers are tied to publishers and pushed to change things last minute because end of the day it is a business, while I think in Japan, to an extent, can be bit freer with what they create.

VR Zone
VR Zone is a must because this is the first time you can play Mario Kart in VR and let me tell you, seeing Piranha plants up close and fire balls being spat at your face is terrifying! The Mushroom Kingdom is a scary place!
The whole building from outside to inside is really cool and futuristic looking! I got there at the opening time so I didn’t have to wait for most rides but when I left after 2 hours I saw the waiting times shoot up. When you enter you have four tickets; Red, Blue, Yellow and Green. Each one of the coloured tickets provides you with access to one game.  You are also provided with an eye mask but hole cut out for you so you don’t dirty the VR set.
Yellow Ticket - I chose Mario Kart for this one, as this was a no brainer for me. It is up to four players, and you are racing against Wario and Bowser who have a tendency to cheat! Out of them four, this is the one I had the most fun on. Being able to move your hands and do whatever you like with the item is an incredible feeling. I was in first place and I had a hammer item and I was swinging it over my head like a mad man knocking anyone who comes near me! The levels change within the game and from seeing the course in VR is a cool experience! This is the future for Mario Kart.
Red Ticket - I chose the horror game “Hospital Escape Terror”. For starters you control a wheelchair! This is a co-op game. Basically, you and your partner are in a mental asylum whizzing around on a wheelchair (can’t help but laugh). You both get split up and have to try and get out but you begin to start doing puzzles and have to communicate with each other whilst someone is coming to either of you slowly and about to massacre you!
Blue Ticket - I chose Evangelion as I am a fan of the series. This was a really cool one. You start off in NERV base and to be able to look around before you get shot out to fight the Angel is awesome. Being able to see it from the perspective of the Evangelion instead of looking at them in the cockpit was cool. The seat as well is comfortable and feels like the real deal. In this one you are fighting an Angel while trying to dodge its attack. Easier said than done and can be overwhelming at times.
Green Ticket - For my last ticket I chose Argyle Shift because I didn’t feel like playing a fishing game (I blame Big the Cat from Sonic Adventure!) and the Skiing one I didn’t care for. In Argyle Shift you are in a cockpit and basically shot out into a sky battle to shoot down enemies while a holographic woman is constantly throwing herself in your face. And yes, there are jiggle physics...

Finally got round to finishing my Attack on Titan ODM Gear model! Just been busy with work and the fact so many good games have come out this year which has taken most of my time up! I recently finished season 2 of Attack on Titan so that gave me the extra push to finish this off and see it to the end. Also the sequel to the PS4 game just got announced (loved the first one) so the timing has worked out well! So if anyone wants to pass me onto the Dev team to help them work on it that will be great haha. I did hard surface modelling to create this. Modelled in 3DS Max, Maps and textures created in xNormal/ Quixel suite. Rendered in 3DO

So its that time of year when everything starts to wind down in projects. I was in work and I finished my tasks (this week has been bit dry) and I spoke to my lead about anything else I can do and he pretty much hinted that I should enjoy sometime on Mortal Kombat in the games room as there is not much to do. Even though I love to play MK, I thought I might as well do some personal work and see if I can enhance my skills so decided to model the Batsignal within an afternoon and throw a shader texture on it to see what it was like. Not bad I think for one free afternoon. If I get time I might properly texture it. Anyway have a good Christmas everyone!

Trying to find time to model outside of work and also trying to find something you are interested in modelling can be a pain. However, I have been playing a lot of Attack on Titan for the PS4 lately and I absolutely love it!! So I decided to go away today and Hard Surface model the swords which is part of the ODM Gear. When you are modelling, if its something you don’t really feel the time can then drag but with this it just flew by and I enjoyed doing it. I am gonna try and do the whole set as well and texture it so more to come hopefully!!

Here is some professional work models I have been working on with my colleagues in the Multimedia department . It is definitely a big change from game art that is for sure and from what I normally post! However, it is always a great advantage to learn another type of modelling! All these models where made using hard surface modelling techniques for video and rendering purposes. The inside cavity of the oven was a bit tricky but I am please with how the final product has come out.
Anyone that wants to do branding modelling. Dimensions is the key. If your dimensions is off, your model will be off as well so always create a bounding box so you know to keep it within that. Also what you see is what you get. You cannot go off the beaten track like you can do with game art. What is there on the reference, you model, no “I think this would be better if they did this”. What you get from the manufacturer you stick to that. If you never did hard surface modelling before, there’re plenty of tutorials out there. The closer the edge loop is, there tighter the surface will be. Edge loops are key for hard surface modelling. Modelled in Cinema 4D and rendered in Thea.

Boy oh boy! Have I been busy!! So I recently got a new job as a Junior Modeller specialising solely on Hard Surface modelling. As any 3D person will know, this type of modelling can be quite hard to do and you really need to dedicate a lot of time to it. I have learnt a lot on the job, but a bonus is that I work in the Multimedia department so interacting with other modellers, animators, motion graphics etc is that my passion for creativity is always fulled. We use Cinema 4D there which I haven’t used before but once you know one 3D package the principles are the same. I now know 3DS Max, Maya and Cinema 4D which opens more doors and opportunities. To the people who think knowing just Max or Maya and refuse to learn another package will face the hard truth eventually. The 3D world is growing and expanding at a phenomenal rate, so just relying on one 3D software will keep you limited in job searches and you won’t grow as much. Besides it keeps you on your toes.
Anyway, just for fun I decided to make like a run down theme park cable cart. I was going to do the inside as well but my job has been keeping me busy but can’t complain.

Not enough hacking skill!
When playing Fallout 4 you are greeted with assets during the loading screens, I love panning around them and zooming in to see how they did things up close. I decided to go ahead and make my own! Artstation --> https://www.artstation.com/artwork/VGLXN
