i think preventing suicide denies people's bodily autonomy
I think preventing suicide by offering people resources, care, support and access to treatment is great. I think "preventing suicide" by denying people basic autonomy is unhelpful and abusive.

I mean we don’t even 100% know he had a manifesto. Who has seen it? Who has seen the 3-D printed gun?
There’s so much unverifiable information that’s being reported on as fact, it’s actually despicable. They shouldn’t be reporting on key pieces of evidence in this much detail when he hasn’t even had the opportunity to go to trial, this is literally poisoning the well when it comes to a neutral jury.
Remember, YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO PROPAGANDA!!!
there's a million things that can be said about innocent until proven guilty and the history of the NYPD framing people and fabricating evidence just to say that they have any sort of success rate and the guy who somehow evaded the cops for like a week for some reason never thought to dispose of any of the evidence and the guy who should supposedly be reveling in being everyone's favorite felon because like 80% of the country saw what he did and went 'hell yeah' going 'I didn't do it and the cops planted evidence on me' but to me one of the biggest red flags that this whole thing is a setup is the 'manifesto'.
if you shoot someone a high profile person within a well-beloathed industry with bullets that you handwrote 'deny' 'defend' and 'depose' into that's a manifesto in and of itself. only a cop or someone who REALLY thinks that people won't understand the message would say 'well just to make sure everyone gets it let's just write three entire pages worth of reasoning behind why i shot an insurance exec and carry it with me at all times'. like be real

As much as you may not want to hear this: both you and a right winger probably broadly agree on what the broader issues in society are. It's the solutions that you disagree on.
Like, we can all agree that a lack of jobs and low wages since the post-covid economic crash are making our quality of life demonstrably worse than it would have been 10 years ago. But someone who is left-wing might think the solution is a Universal Basic Income, more equitable access to higher or technical education, or reduced CEO wages with redistribution to lower-level workers. A right-wing individual may think that this is due to competition created by immigration, or DEI, or personal failure. Each individual's level of education, community values, and personal experiences contribute to these differing worldviews. But you all agree on the issue.
And most of the time individuals can't simply be categorised into left-wing (good) and right-wing (bad). Even within political parties, the spectrum of political beliefs from one member to the next are VAST. Individuals themselves contain multitudes of beliefs that aren't always congruous. Mangione is indicative of this.
Mangione's actions, however you may feel about them, have in some spaces brought down the divide - take a look at Ben Shapiro's comments section for starters. People are starting to realise that they actually do agree with the 'other side', in terms of identifying the same problems within society. You actually have more in common with your conservative neighbour than your local politician. Because the root of most issues in Western society are caused by the strict division of classes, wealth inequality, and the influence of wealthy private individuals on our politics.
Like no one is going to be a perfect mirror of your political beliefs, but that shouldn't mean you entirely discount their ideas. You can find common ground in a manner which doesn't sacrifice your moral compass, but that happens at a community level first. No one person has The Right Beliefs that everyone can rally around around. But lots of people can create pockets of change that can inspire others to do the same. There is hope, you just have to build it brick by brick.
Does anyone else find it weird that everyone's calling Luigi Mangione a conservative and a right-winger over a few tweets?
He listens to Joe Rogan, and he follows AOC on twitter. He's an atheist who's passionate about fighting climate change and wealth inequality. He thinks traditional gender roles are good. He supports tolerance of all religions.
Many of these things sound incongruent and you probably disagree with some of them, so you put him straight into the right-wing box. This is weird and not healthy for political discourse imo.
This isn't specific to Mangione either, it's something I've noticed happens alot, it's just very noticable in this case and I think it's worth pointing out.
