We've uncovered photos from the first Friendship Caravan visiting America 40 years ago! My, how we've grown!

In honor of this year's 40th anniversary celebration of our Tzofim Friendship Caravan, here is a clipping from a local newspaper of our 1984 Caravan visiting the Temple Emanuel community in Tempe, Arizona. Amazing!

Our CVK 2013 trip has officially ended, and while many of our participants stayed in Israel to spend time with friends, family, and each other, many of us are back in the states and missing Israel already. Stay tuned for more photos and speeches from the trip - we had a wonderful time!

Fundraising Event Update: Scarsdale, New York

The Scarsdale community members joined us at the home of Ronit Bentov, a long-time and strong supporter of Friends of Israel Scouts. We have always enjoyed our great relationship with Ronit, and it was truly a pleasure to share this special moment with her. We heard from Ilana Rosenzweig, who is originally from New Jersey and now lives with her Garin in Kibbutz Urim, while serving in the Air Force. Afterward we enjoyed a fabulous performance by Caravan Moriah.

Fundraising Event Update: Dallas, Texas

In Dallas we had a beautiful event in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Yoram and Yael Avneri. We enjoyed delicious food and wonderful conversation with the Dallas community, and again had the opportunity to hear from a Garin Tzabar member. Jacob Jew, from Austin, now lives with his Garin in Kibbutz Kinneret and serves in the Armored Corps. Finally, we enjoyed the music of the Friendship Caravan's southeast troupe, Caravan Eden.

Fundraising Event Update: Detroit, Michigan

In Detroit we had the honor of being welcomed into the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. Alon and Shari Kaufman. The Kaufmans spoke a little bit about their personal relationship with the Tzofim and why they choose to support Garin Tzabar. We then the story of Andrew Solomon, from Nevada, who now lives with Garin Tzabar in Kibbutz Beit HaEmek and serves in the Air Force. Finally, we were treated to a beautiful performance by the Friendship Caravan's midwest troupe, Caravan Ariel.

Israel Photo of the Day: déjà vu

Here is an amazing photo of this Summer's Southeast Caravan, Caravan Amos, at a host's house in Delray Beach, Florida. They are watching a video of the Caravan of Summer 1992, performing in Delray Beach, Florida. This highlights a key element we love about the Tzofim; the deep and rich history we have with Zionism, Israel, and American Jewry. We love being able to say we are connecting young Israelis with older Americans who have been working with the Tzofim for over 20 years. Kol HaKavod, Delray Beach, for keeping the history alive!

A video aired at last night's Garin Tzabar farewell ceremony in New York. In mid-August, our Garin Tzabar 2012 participants will be making Aliyah to Israel and joining the army. We raise our hats to them, wish them Mazal Tov and b'Hatzlacha. We admire and appreciate you endlessly, Garin Tzabar participants.
