Finding yourself in an older, once-large fandom is such a surreal expirience. Its like looking through a window into the past. There are fics in every fandom that havn't been updated in forever, but looking at these ones is like looking at a ghost town. I hesitate to leave comments on fics and art i find and like because I jumped onto the bandwagon seven years late. All of it is beautiful, and all of it is old.

There is so much here, but none of it is recent. It feels ancient, like ruins of a city long gone.

One time, I asked her why she thought I should read the Simarillion and she clapped het hands, sat down on a kitchen chair, rested her elbows on her knees, said "okay, so-" and proceded to talk for three hours.

My grandmother would pound every single one of you lotr fans into the ground during a trivia competion, and she deserves all the respect in the world for it.

trying to start writing again. writing is hard. does anyone on here have any advice on how to just get bloody started? i'm mainly interested (at the moment) on writing dark, queer fantasy. i haven't written in YEARS but i used to do it a lot. need a kick up the arse, truth be told...

Was wishing there was a positivity post for original fiction writers since I see so many about how fanfic writers are doing so much for their communities even when they're not actively writing, and then I thought:

Be the change you want to see in the world.

So this is a positivity post for the writers out here who are working very hard on stories with no established community. Who can't talk about their blorbos and plot lines and brainstorming to anyone and expect them to know what any of it means. Who don't have much to share publicly, but are hoping they will one day.

You're doing a lot of hard work, and I recognize and appreciate what you're putting into the world, even when you're resting.
