"i'd hoped there'd be stars" is so gutwrenching to hear because the doctor knows the stars as a site of transformation. you could say the thesis of the show itself is that beholding the stars, going to the stars changes you. but the twelfth doctor believes this with his entire being. he thinks a dalek could change if it saw the birth of stars. he thinks missy can change if they travelled the stars together. even after being trapped in the confession dial for 4.5 billion years, looking at the stars to learn that he's been there for a very long time burning himself up, over and over and over, he'd hoped there'd be stars at the end. just like at the beginning when he stole a tardis and ran away. and transformed.

it’s not often you see someone cry out of sheer hatred. thank you lex luthor
everybody say "thank you superman 2025 for bringing truly irredeemable villains back with lex luther!"
he is a cold blooded killer. he has pathetic tantrums and throws pens on the floor. he only wears black. he delivers a fantasically evil villain monologue. he cries pathetically when beaten. his motivation is not related to some tragic backstory, but is simply jealousy twisted into something so deplorably evil. he is bald.
this movie really is All That™️ and then some.

people complain about the star wars sequels being “too political” but the capital of the galaxy gets blown up in the first movie and we never hear about the effects of that ever again lmao. those movies are like 95% about the force and there was an attempt with the canto bight stuff but 7 through 9 are such embarrassing pieces of apolitical slop especially when held to the standard the other movies set.
does the first order recruit by radicalizing people dissatisfied with the new republic, maybe preying on young men in outer rim systems? nope, apparently every single stormtrooper was kidnapped as a baby and programmed to be evil. well, we get to see one stormtrooper defect, which is a really cool idea for a character, will he get to do anything after the first movie? no? well, what are the goals of the first order? just being the empire again? lame, but what do they do differently since they don’t yet have the power and influence of the original empire? build another death star? how?? oh, palpatine was in charge the whole time, and this whole first order thing was just a scheme to bring back the sith or something?
i know that the movies were not planned out as a trilogy and that’s why shit feels so disconnected between them. i also get that star wars fans like to call something “political” because there are minorities in it and not because of the actual politics of the story. i just think it is a frustrating dog whistle because if you take it at face value it is really giving those movies way more credit than they deserve

There’s something beautifully chaotic about how each Time Lord’s regeneration gets labeled in a completely different taxonomy
The Doctor, of course, usually gets numbered in a very official-feeling way—“The 10th Doctor,” “the 14th Doctor”—complete with the traditional "th" or "nd". Pretty standard.
Romana, on the other hand, sticks a Roman numeral after her name—Romana I, Romana II, etc.—which feels halfway between monarch and droid model, and I love that for her.
And then there's the Master, where we’ve just... absolutely given up. No numbers. No system. We either go with a nickname (like Missy, which she chose herself ), or we use a descriptor (like "Spy Master"), or we just straight-up refer to them by the actor’s last name. “Oh yeah, that was the Gomez Master. Or maybe the Dhawan one. (this point also applies to the Rani aswell lol)
It’s chaos. It’s inconsistent. It’s deeply unserious. And I wouldn’t change a thing.

I love season 10 of new who because it’s so… quiet. The setting of the season is the university, which makes everything feel grounded; the Doctor even has a “home” outside of the Tardis (his office). Outside of the Vault, which is a mystery that’s solved midway through the season, there’s no big problem or enemy that hangs over the heads of the characters. Missy would maybe function as that, but instead she becomes a part of the core cast, and her character is given time to be fleshed out. And this was the end of Moffat’s run; he’d established so much lore that he could have easily put in a big overarching narrative about the silence or the daleks or what have you, but he didn’t.
I really miss the grounded energy that this series had, especially compared to the most recent series of RTD2, where seemingly every problem is universe-threatening and there are 50 billion characters that are packed into eight episodes. I think that if the series were to have another season like 10, it would improve the show greatly.

the problem w making up OCs is before you can get the rewards of shitposting about them you must first submit yourself to the mortifying ordeal of explaining who they are.
