elijah hopes the relief isn’t too apparent, already too uneasy by the simple thought of asking to stay. but it’s there regardless, tension dropping and a new ease settling onto features. the distance is there still, barely noticeable, but elijah isn’t blind to uneven feelings, only more the willing to pretend he is. “ guess we can’t have me walkin’ around like that. ” there’s no protest left in him, plopped back down onto the mattress with a sigh, as if giving into something he hadn’t hinted at himself. “ looks like you’re stuck with me for a little longer. ”
