A Galaxy Class disaster!
The USS McGinley NCC-1727 escapes an exploding planet!
I created this bit of fan art for Season 4 of "The Improvised Generation" (an entirely improvised series of Trek episodes in the style of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but with a new ship & crew). The last show is this Saturday--if you’re in LA you should check it out! bit.ly/theimprovisedgen
I was really happy with how the ship tired out and I had a lot of fun creating the exploding planet. Fun fact: The foreground rocks are from my yard--just vectorized and flung into space!

Metropolis Morning Commute
Superman was my first fandom and I wanted to pay tribute to the comic that started it all with a design of my own. Up, Up, and Away! Congrats on Action Comics #1,000!

I updated a poster I made before the premier for the season 1 finale! I didn't love the 'Disco' monicker at first but I've grown to love it, like the show!

Saru's inspiring speech to the Discovery crew in “What’s Past is Prologue” gave me goosebumbs! Thank you to Ted Sullivan for the words and Doug Jones for bringing them to life. I doff my cap to them both!

Kirby-Inspired Discovery comic page So last night I was on Twitter and Mike Johnson, IDW writer, mentioned that he was listening to the Thor Ragnarok soundtrack and wondered how his comic would turn out under the influence of the music. One of the artists, Megan Levens, mentioned that now she wanted to draw The Enterprise surrounded by "Kirby crackles"*. Well, to me that seems a lot like the effect of the spore drive from Discovery so I made this! It was the first time I tried to imitate that style, and I have to admit I am pretty happy with the result!
* The sort of electric/spacey look Jack Kirby comic book artist Jack Kirby was famous for. There is a lot of Kirby design influence in the new Thor movie.
