Fabulous school essentials
Tumblr media
It’s almost time to go back to University so I thought it would be a good idea to do a “back to school essentials” post.
First of all the actual school supplies: the most important thing of course is a good school bag. I got a tote bag from Forever21 because you can fit a lot into these types of bags. What you also need is a good diary. I bought a very plain one (bottom left) that I can customize from Hema. In addition to my diary I have this to-do list from h&m because I think it’s easier to make a separate to-do list than to write everything in my diary. You obviously need some pens too and something to put them in. I got this amazing pencil case from h&m (yes it’s rose gold) and most of my pens are from Hema. The notebooks that I got are from two different stores: the gorgeous marble ones are from flying tiger and the other two notebooks are from Hema.
Tumblr media
I like to bring a spare bag to school for moments when I can’t fit everything into my school bag (which is most of the time). The next thing is not an essential but I also bring a make-up bag to do some touch-ups during the day. Essentials for me are also deodorant, some perfume, hand sanitizer, hand cream and a hairbrush. Bringing my keys and purse is very essential because like most of you, I don’t want to get locked out. The last things I bring are sunglasses and an umbrella, two opposites. You definitely need these in Belgium because the weather can go from sunny to thunder storm in the blink of an eye.

mirlo’s
Tumblr media
Surprise surprise, this is not a pinterest board. This place actually exist and it’s called Mirlo’s. This lovely restaurant/shop in the centre of Antwerp might be my new favourite breakfast place.
First of all, the food is absolutely amazing! I had some French toast with fresh fruit and soldiers and eggs. I am obsessed with the French toast and need to go back ASAP for more! I highly recommend you to do the same because you can not miss this dish. A really cool detail about the menu is that all of the special coffees are named after sex and the city characters. So I slightly fangirled when I saw the Carrie coffee.
Now, we need to talk about how beautifully decorated this place is. If I could, I would decorate my house exactly like this restaurant. There were so many rose gold items that I sat there admiring them the entire time. The best part is that you can actually buy all of the decorations! Food and shopping in one place? How amazing is that?!
Make sure to go and pay a visit to this beautiful restaurant because you can not miss out on this one!                                                                                facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/mirlosfavourites                      address: Verbondstraat 1, 2000 Antwerpen

Chickpea
Tumblr media
Healthy food lovers, this restaurant is perfect for you! My friend Sarah (http://www.sarahkafif.be/) and I went to Chickpea, a restaurant that serves all kinds of dishes with hummus, this week. Now, I was never that into hummus because I had never tried fresh hummus before. But Chickpea has turned me into a hummus lover.
I had the “a fish called wanda” which is a hummus plate with salmon balls on top of it. I absolutely loved it because the hummus was perfectly seasoned and the salmon balls tasted so good. The dish was served with “the all time classic” salad which added a nice fresh touch to it.
For drinks I had their home made iced-tea; a perfect choice for me since there was no sugar added! We also got some pita bread with olive oil and herbs as an appetizer which was simple but tasty.
I would definitely recommend for you to pay a visit to this restaurant not only because the food is absolutely delicious but also because the service was really good! They were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Go check out their facebook page for more information: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Chickpea-Eat-DrinkEnjoy/382140335292141?fref=ts
Address: oudaan 4, Antwerpen. Make sure to have a look at Sarah’s review of this restaurant on http://www.sarahkafif.be/

confessions of a single lady
Tumblr media
Two weeks ago I went to a wedding. It was the first one I had ever attended and it was a lovely experience! However, it made me think about my own love life and how non existent it is right now. I tried to think of why it is so difficult to find a guy and of course I immediately blamed myself. Crazy thoughts were going through my mind: “I have to be more open minded” and “maybe I need to approach men myself”. But, I soon realized that I was wrong. I haven’t changed, the dating culture has changed.
Social media and the internet have created a new way of dating that I like to call passive dating. Being approached by men does not happen anymore unless you’re at a club and the guy has consumed a fairly large amount of alcohol. Oh and dates? That’s so 1950s! Dating today is called “talking” or “hanging out”, after all you don’t want to sound like you’re into the person right?
There is a certain fear of commitment these days that makes singles reluctant to define what their relationship is. This might be a consequence of the big increasement in divorces which is only fair since this can “scar” a child for life.
But, it isn’t just a confidence issue. It is also a habitual and traditional issue. The original dating pattern, where men court women, has been broken due to feminism. Now do not get me wrong, I support feminists in their fight against gender inequality. However, I do not think it should interfere with the old dating pattern. Of course women can take the lead and approach men if that is what they like. But some girls, like me, still want to be swept of their feet by men.
The problem is that there is no dating pattern anymore. It is not clear who is supposed to take the lead nowadays which creates confusion on both male and female’s parts.
I do not really have a good solution for it because that is impossible. We can not go back to the old dating pattern anymore with the way female’s behaviour has progressed. So there will never be a clear leader anymore. All I can say, is that some women still want to be seduced. They want a confident guy to approach them, to ask for their phone-number and to plan a date. Don’t forget girls like this, like me, still exist.

REVIEW: Zoella Beauty
Tumblr media
Last month I went to Brighton as you might have seen on my blog or youtube channel. When I was there I went shopping as per usual and I finally got some products from the Zoella Beauty range. Zoella or Zoë Sugg is a British youtuber who recently launched her own beauty range. Since I love her videos, I thought I would do a review on her products.
Zoella Beauty has two different collections: there is the original one and the tutti fruity one. Personally, I liked the Tutti Fruity scent better so that is what I bought. What I got (from top left to bottom right):
- “Scrubbing Me Softly” body scrub: This scrub is made with cocoa butter and has extracts of acai and blueberry in it. “Scrubbing me softly” is very gentle on the skin which is of great importance to me since I have very sensitive skin. It always leaves my skin feeling super soft and to top it all it smells absolutely divine. This is a must have for all of you scrubaholics out there!
- “Kissy Missy” lip balm: This bubblegum pink lip balm smells more like vanilla to me, which is still very nice. The colour does not suit me that well but it is definitely a good lip balm in terms of moisture. If you look good in pink lipstick, I highly recommend this.
- “Foam Sweet Foam” shower gel: I bought two bottles of this shower gel because it feels so nice on my skin. After I’ve used it my skin feels like a baby’s bottom, no joke. This has the same wonderful scent as the other products so it makes my skin smell so good. This has to be one of my favourite things out of the range.
- “Let’s Spritz” fragranced body mist: I can not even begin to explain my love for this. I am normally not really into body mists but this one is just pure perfection. I even bought a second bottle of this when I went to London to make sure I wouldn’t run out. All I can say is that you need this in your life.
- “Candy Cream” softening body lotion: Candy Cream is a body lotion that has bursting beads and extracts of acai and blueberry in it. I had never tried a body lotion with beads in it before but I actually think it’s really nice! This is very nourishing which is great since my skin can get quite dry.
Overall, the Tutti Fruity range is just fabulous. The products are genuinely of good quality and the scent is just a major plus. The products are available on: http://www.feelunique.com/brands/zoella-beauty . I also mentioned them in my Brighton haul video on my youtube channel so make sure to check that out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rc5qJSgBH38

A guide to: Brighton
Tumblr media
Everyone who knows me, knows that I am obsessed with everything British. So it is probably no surprise to you that I have been wanting to see more of England for the longest time. This month I finally got to see one of the cities on my list, Brighton.
FOOD:
-café coho: This is a nice little café that was literally next to our hotel where I really wanted to go for breakfast. I had the “coho breakfast“ which included bacon, sausages, tomato and a poached egg on toast. The food was really good and the staff was very friendly! Definitely a place that is worth paying a visit. (http://www.cafecoho.co.uk/)                                                                     (83 Queens Rd, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 3XE, United Kingdom)
- blackbird tea room: Something you absolutely have to do when you’re in England is have afternoon tea. For some reason I had never done it before even though I’ve gone to London about 8 times. In Brighton I had my first afternoon tea and let me tell you, it was heaven on a plate or well tier cake stand. This place is a must visit! (http://www.blackbirdtearooms.com/)                               (30 Ship St, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1AD, United Kingdom)
FASHION:
- churchill square: This is a shopping centre in Brighton that has all the shops you need! Some of my personal favourites include: topshop, miss selfridge, tiger and superdrug. (Russell Pl, Brighton BN1 2RG, United Kingdom)
- laines: This is a must see when in Brighton not only because of the lovely colourful houses but also because the cutest shops are located here. My favourite street to go to in the laines was Kensington gardens.
FABULOUS THINGS:
- Brighton pier: A very English thing in my opinion is amusement parks. Therefore the pier is perfect to go to on a typical rainy day. There are also many food stands where you can get crêpes, sushi and so much more. And the best part is that you get an amazing view of the city and the beautiful sea!                (Madeira Dr, Brighton BN2 1TW, United Kingdom)
- snoopers paradise: This antique store is a shop that you could get lost in for hours and hours. It has such a wide range if vintage things that one could spend all day in there. But the most fabulous thing about this store has to be the vintage photo booth. After all, it’s nice to have one of these photos to remember your holiday.                                                                                        (7 Kensington Gardens, North Laine, Brighton BN1 4AL, United Kingdom)
- royal pavilion: This beautiful palace was built in the 18th century and is located in the centre of Brighton. If you’re into architecture this is a must see but if you aren’t really interested in any of that you can still sit back and relax in the pavilion gardens that surround the building.                                                     (4/5 Pavilion Buildings, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 1EE, United Kingdom)
If you would like to see more of my trip to Brighton you can watch the vlogs on https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1M_XzTxzv9S8Xr0DHoM0Lw

A guide to: Ibiza
Tumblr media
A couple of months ago I went to Ibiza for a week. I had a great time there! So since summer has officialy arrived, I’ve created a guide to Ibiza!
FOOD:
- Organic market: this was my favourite restaurant in Ibiza so if you want to read more about it you can check out the blogpost right here:  http://foodfashionfabulousthings.tumblr.com/post/116141190212/ibiza-organic-market  (Marina Botafoch 316, 07800 Ibiza)
- Sir Rocco: this gorgeous restaurant was one of the most beautiful places ever. On one of our road trips around the island we discovered this place. You can actually have dinner on the beach which is a really unique experience. Their food is very good as well which makes this the perfect location to grab a bite to eat! (http://www.sirroccobeachclub.com/en/) (Playa den Bossa s/n. 07817 Ibiza)
- Passion: If you’re looking for healthy meals, this is the place to be. They have a great variety of food like tabouleh, salads, homemade falafel,… Gluten-free meals can be found here as well. They have 4 different branches in Ibiza so you can find the one that is the closest to you on their website: (http://passion-ibiza.com/)
FASHION:
There are a lot of cute shops and boutiques in Ibiza so here is a little overview of the ones that I visited:
- Stradivarius: This Spanish fashion brand sells amazing clothes. They have a very bohemian style although some pieces have a more grungy feel. This store is a must visit if you’re in Spain.                                              (Avinguda de Bartomeu de Rosselló, 1807800 Ibiza)
- Kiko: Kiko is a professional make-up brand that has stores around the world. If you don’t have one in your country though, go visit this one in Ibiza! They have a huge range of beauty products and cosmetics that are very affordable.  (Avgda Bartomeu de Rosselló, 28, 07800 Ibiza)
FABULOUS THINGS:
- Hotel Ibiza Corso: this hotel was absolutely fabulous! The room had an amazing view and it was very tidy! You also get free access to the gym & the spa, which has a little yard where you can sit back and relax. There is also a pool and a bar outside that are perfect for hot days! (http://www.ibizacorso.com/)
- Catedral de Ibiza: This beautiful 13th century cathedral is a must see not only because the inside is stunning but also because the view on the plaza de la Catedral, where the cathedral is at, is breathtaking. The walk up there however is very tough, so be prepared for that! (Plaza de la Catedral, s/n, 07800 Ibiza)

BARRIO CANTINA
Tumblr media
Barrio Cantina, a foodtruck festival, was in town this weekend; Now like the foodie that I am, I had to go and see this place out!
This festival ,located next to “Het Steen” in Antwerpen, is every foodie’s dream come true. It has no less than 49 foodtrucks with all different kinds of food. The cuisine ranges from sushi to burgers to frozen yoghurt. It was hard choosing what to eat because if I could have, I would have tried everything there.
The first thing I tasted though was a chicken taco from “the taco guy”. This taco was absolutely delicious; It was pretty spicy but not too overpowering. “The taco guy” also has a food stand at the market on saturdays and sundays (theaterplein), so you can taste his delicious tacos there as well. https://www.facebook.com/TheTacoGuyBE
After my spicy taco I was craving something sweet, so I had a waffle from “ons lucy”. Not just any waffle though, it was a waffle covered in chocolate served on a stick. The perfect combination for a delicious and original treat. http://www.onslucy.be/
What I loved the most about this festival was the vibes there. I felt like I was on holiday on a tropical island somewhere near spain. There was great music, cocktails and the smell of delicious food being cooked.
Unfortunately, Barrio Cantina’s last day in Antwerpen is tommorow (the 25th of May) but they will be back in September. If you can’t wait to visit this festival though you can check their website to see which city they’re in next. http://www.barriocantina.be/

TARTINE
Tumblr media
If you were to go to Belgium and ask a local what they usually have for breakfast the average person would say something like: “een boke me choco”. In english that would be a sandwich with some nutella spread.
This cute restaurant, Tartine, revolves around those sandwiches hence the name (which means slice of bread in french). Obviously, I had to go there and see what it was all about which is what me and my friends did today.
Deciding what to eat was so difficult because I wanted to try everything on their menu but I decided to go with the chicken tartine. This sandwich was absolutely delicious although I didn’t read the menu properly and overlooked the fact that the dressing was spicy. It was definitely the biggest sandwich I’ve ever had though! I also tried their caramel latte and homemade lemonade. Both of the drinks were really good even though the lemonade was a little bit too minty for my liking.
Overall I highly recommend paying a visit to this restaurant because it’s very unique and you will definitely find something you like on their menu. If you would like to see more of this restaurant go check out my friends’ blogs:

UMAMIDO
Tumblr media
A while ago on a beautiful, sunny day I went to this lovely square called “dageraadplaats”. This is one of the best spots to go for drinks when it’s sunny out. I discovered a new restaurant called Umamido, a japanese noodlebar. The offer on their menu is not the broadest out there because they prefer having fewer dishes that are perfect to having a range of dishes that are mediocre.
The dishes that I had were: the gyoza, which are raviolis filled with chicken and vegetables, the pork bun and the kimchi, fermented vegetables. I loved all of it so much and I even ordered a second plate of gyoza. The dishes are great for sharing too, like a japanese version of tapas.
The interior of Umamido is very pretty as well; It looks sophisticated and classy. The white walls and the dark wood give this place a modern feel.
So if you are in the mood for some delicious Japanese food, this is the place to be at! Go pay them a visit because you will not regret it!

CULTURE COFFEE
Tumblr media
How do I even begin to write about this amazing new coffeeshop! Well, I have three words for you: coffee, donuts and sandwiches.
Culture Coffee is a new coffeeshop in the centre of Antwerp. Now, you may think ugh not another one but this is not just your average latte place! On their menu you will find the most delicious donuts you have ever seen! I tried three different donuts: meringue, white chocolate & oreo and strawberry marshmellow. Let me tell you, these donuts were so good!
Their coffee is tasty as well; I had a vanilla latte and it had just the right amount of vanilla in it. The coffee was not too strong either so it was perfect. I had a philadelphia sandwich too which had smoked salmon, cream cheese and avocado in it. It was a great combination.
Overall you should definitely visit Culture Coffee and while you’re there try one of their delicious donuts because they are really good!

IBIZA: ORGANIC MARKET
Tumblr media
As you may or may not know, I went to Ibiza for a week. Now, I know you might think I went there to party but I actually went to explore this beautiful island. Like the foodaholic (is that even a word?) that I am, I did my research and found some really cute places to have dinner. Organic Market is one of them.
This restaurant was opposite my hotel and it caught my eye straight away. They obviously serve organic food which is good because it’s a lot healthier. So of course I had to try out one of their gluten-free desserts and I went with the brownie. It was delicious and it didn’t taste any different than what a normal brownie would taste like.Their menu offers a range of healthy meals that looked really good! Unfortunately I couldn’t try every single thing on the menu, although that would have been nice.
I would definitely recommend this place if you are planning to go to Ibiza because their food is amazing and it’s a really cosy restaurant.

BAR CHINE
Tumblr media
Do you ever just see the most amazing looking food on your screen while scrolling through your instagram feed and think: “I need to try that!”. That happens to me all the time and this restaurant was no exception. When I saw a photo of Bar Chine’s food, I knew I had to go there ASAP!
Bar Chine is a restaurant that serves various types of asian food, which is one of my favourite cuisines. What makes their restaurant stand out though is that they don’t make a distinction between starters and main courses. The whole concept of the place is to try different dishes and share them. This reminds me of tapas in spain, where you can indulge in a few dishes instead of just having one main dish.
The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered four dishes: wontons, chicken satays, pork belly and a salad chinoise. Every single dish was so good! As for drinks, I had the blushing dragon cocktail which was divine!
What made this restaurant stand out to me, apart from the incredible food, was the service. We had such a kind waitress who was more than happy to help us when picking our food! That was definitely a plus!
If you haven’t yet, make sure to check this place out because you will love it!

ABOL: coffee & bread
Tumblr media
One day when I was walking home after school I walked past this adorable little coffee bar. It wasn’t open yet but the mint green façade immediately caught my eye. So I took a picture of it to remember that I needed to pay a visit as soon as it was open.
This wednesday I met up with one of my really good friends to catch up over a good cup of coffee, as girls ever so often do, and I finally got to go to Abol. The place has such a cosy feel to it because of the way it was decorated. The music complemented that vibe really well and I’m not going to lie, I got so excited when they played an old christmas song.
As far as food and drinks go; me and my friend each had a caramel macchiato, that had just the right amount of caramel in it, and a humongous but delicious piece of chocolate cake. They also had salads, breakfast and sandwiches on offer. What I think is a big advantage though is that you can ask for soy milk instead of regular milk in your coffee, since there are a lot of people that are lactose intolerant.
I’d say definitely pay a visit to this one because it’s worth it!
