Gem spends an in-person weekend with Etho.

It’s colder than Gem expects as she steps through the automatic doors to get outside. Her coat is stuffed into her backpack, but she can’t bring herself to stop and get it out, just has to keep moving before she loses her nerve.

She has strict instructions on her phone.

Floor 1, white Toyota in NE corner, WGL-1790.

Her breathing grows unsteady as she drags her suitcase along, breath fogging in the cold air as she scans the rows of cars in the parking structure.

She has to use her phone to figure out the direction, but after a few minutes, she finds what she’s looking for — a white truck, something that’s bigger and older than what she’d been expecting.

The door opens when she tries the handle, but the inside is empty, save for what appears to be a black scarf on the center console.

At least she knows she’s in the right place.

She loads her bags in the back and pulls herself up into the passenger seat, forcing herself out of the habit of looking around. She’s only just arrived. She doesn’t want to mess things up already.

She lets out a breath, hands shaking as she carefully opens her DMs on Discord and sends a message.

the thing is I am pro-rpf on principle, but I do think you should keep it away from the actual people you're shipping. but it is NOT out of concern for their comfort (insert pete wentz bank account post), it's for the same reason that like animal behaviorists and field biologists and such try to stay out of view when they're observing animals in the wild. don't tip them off it's gonna to skew the results of my study.

“Not that big—” Gem repeats, incensed. He’s baiting her; she can tell.

“Yeah,” Etho says. Casual, like he’s not talking about how big of a dick she can take. He’s baiting her and it’s working and that just makes her more worked up.

I'm starting a propaganda campaign for scruffy!Etho who cuts his own hair but it's on the longer side because he can't be bothered to cut it often!!

This propaganda is in the form of a gemtho fic where Gem visits Etho for a weekend but is blindfolded the whole time. There are a few twists and it's going to be a filthy PWP in a trenchcoat. But it just hit 10k and she's only a day into her vacation lmfao

She brings one hand up, finding his face, her nails scratching through the stubble she never would have expected if he hadn’t admitted to it on a livestream earlier in the year. When she follows along his jaw, her fingertips brush the softness of his earlobe and then the wool of what she suspects is a hat.

Her lips stretch into a smile and he kisses her again, letting out a huffed breath, almost a laugh.

“What?” he asks. “You think I’m immune to the cold?”

Her smile widens when she nudges her hand up under the edge of his beanie, feeling his hair, which is definitely longer than she’d been imagining.

“I think you cut your own hair,” she says, earning a snort from Etho who gently tugs her hand down and pulls away from her mouth.

“So?”

She laughs brightly, letting him ease her back a step. It’s all the confirmation she needs.

“I like learning these new things about you,” she tells him, voice turning muffled when he kisses her again, like he can't help himself, and it feels like something loosens in her chest.

He likes her. He invited her all the way out to Alberta to stay with him. He wants her right there in his yard so he can kiss her whenever he wants.

She grabs a fistful of his coat, forcing him close as she tries her best to make sure he knows that's exactly what she wants too.
