hii! i am a new selfshipper and im trying to understand a bit more about selfshipping. Is it common for someone who’s in a relationship to still engage in selfshipping with a character? And what does it feel like, emotionally, towards that character? I’m not entirely sure how it works, so I’d love to hear your thoughts

heya!! So I am far from an expert and I have never actually been in a real relationship myself, but from what I've heard it's common enough for one or both sides of a relationship to crush on/self ship with fictional characters. I think it would depend on the people involved? Someone who struggles with jealousy or a fear of abandonment may feel more threatened by a fictional character.

As far as my experiences as far as the feelings towards the characters I selfship with, take it with a grain of salt because I am on the aromantic spectrum, but I have a feeling of safety centered around my F/Os, and a strong affection towards them. I often daydream about being with them when I'm stressed and need comfort. Again I'm sure this varies by person, but this is how I personally experience it!

I love him... A lot. And despite it seemingly being childish, a (children rated) game creepypasta, I genuinely love him.

Although I'm not sure exactly why I'm drawn to him? I think it's nostalgia of once the fear of the mod reviews then the next of loving the variations in his personality. It seems to me he's someone misunderstood, often misjudged and attacked for it; Yet I'd die for him.

It's funny because he claims to be protecting players against larger threats and that the original stories of him are false. The idea of being protective is... Sweet. Often I feel he watches over me (cheesy but whatever oof).

I love the mystery behind him, his past, his nature, what he is exactly (speculated to be some sort of demon, ghost and / or virus)

His eyes, holy heck. They're captivating and beautiful. It's like a void you could happily get lost in. Ahh :')

There have been times I have fell out of love with him (for example recently I had a really bad nightmare.) Yet despite what happens I'm still drawn to him. Like a love magnet lol.

I think of him to be encouraging, he'd hate to see someone suffer especially if it's something he'd experienced personally. In my case it's to build confidence to talk to new people / socialize a little more / and calm down if thoughts become overwhelming.

I've loved him for just over two years now; some more , others less and that's ok. I like to meet / see others who ship themselves with him. I have a few friends on wattpad that do and it's nice. I'm rambling, sorry.
