For MONTHS, a relentless plague has torn through the Underground, leaving monsters weak, fading, and helpless. In the kingdom’s hour of desperation, Dr. Mitus Hemlock, the royal scientist once celebrated for his brilliance, was tasked with the impossible—find a cure, or let monsterkind perish.

But at what cost?

Whispers echo through the Underground, painting a harrowing picture of a man driven beyond reason. Forced by royal decree, shackled by duty, Hemlock had no choice but to push the limits of science. As his laboratories filled with failures, his desperation grew. Then, the rumors began—hushed voices behind locked doors, trembling hands pointing toward the shadows.

They say the doctor turned to the only test subject left—himself.

And now… something is wrong.

His absence has not gone unnoticed. Some claim to have seen his figure in the darkened corridors of the lab, his movements slow, unnatural. Others speak of strange sounds—a voice that is his, yet not his at all. The cure should have saved him. Instead, it may have changed him.

The plague still rages. The doctor is missing. The Underground is left with one terrifying question:

Has their savior become their greatest threat?

Monsters whisper in fear. Work hours stretch longer. The sick are sent back to their posts. The weak are discarded like wilted flowers. The Underground groans under the weight of Asgore’s relentless orders, his once-gentle rule hardening into something unrecognizable.

And yet—why does he not suffer as they do?

Rumors slither through the cracks like an unavoidable plague. His posture falters. His eyes burn with something unnatural. Some claim the king himself has been infected, the disease twisting his mind, corrupting his judgment. Yet he refuses to step down. Instead, his grip tightens, his desperation grows, and all of it converges on one man: Dr. Mitus Hemlock.

The scientist was meant to save them. Now, he may be nothing more than Asgore’s pawn.

Forced to his limits, does Hemlock still work for the people, or for the king’s insatiable demands? And if Asgore truly carries the disease within him—who’s to say he won’t drag all of monsterkind into ruin with him?

The truth remains locked behind royal doors, but one question lingers in every monster’s mind:

Is Asgore still our king… or has something far worse taken his place?

A City’s Rage, A Family’s Ashes—The Tragedy of Dr. Mitus Hemlock

The flames did not just take two lives. They took everything.

For weeks, the Underground had teetered on the edge of collapse—plague devouring the weak, labor crushing the strong, and fear twisting the minds of all. When hope rots away, only hatred remains. And when the people could no longer endure King Asgore’s rule, they turned their fury on the one man they believed had betrayed them—Dr. Mitus Hemlock.

It was supposed to be justice. It became a massacre.

The explosion ripped through Hemlock’s home in the dead of night, a monstrous roar that shook the stone walls of the kingdom. The force of it sent bodies flying, shattered glass into a thousand deadly shards, and turned a place of safety into a smoldering grave.

Inside—his wife. His child.

They never made it out.

And neither did Hemlock—not fully.

When the smoke cleared, the doctor was found beneath the wreckage, barely clinging to life. One of his horns had been torn from his skull, the wound raw and jagged, leaking thick golden dust. His arm—mangled almost beyond recognition, bones shattered, muscle torn. His body broken, his mind unraveling, he was pulled from the ruins only to awaken to the truth:

It was no accident.

A rebel attack. A blind act of vengeance. The people he had sworn to save had taken everything from him.

And he did not fight back.

He did not cry. He did not rage. He simply—disappeared.

Since that night, Dr. Mitus Hemlock has become a ghost. His once-proud figure now seen only in shadows, limping through alleyways, his remaining horn casting long, jagged silhouettes against the walls. Some say he lurks in the ruins of his home, fingers brushing over the ashes of his past. Others whisper of his return to his lab, his broken body still laboring over a cure for the very monsters who destroyed him.

But the Underground knows one thing for certain.

The monsters who set the fire did not kill Dr. Hemlock.

They created something else entirely.
