Just want to share new details about JP Oberon because for sure it will get lost EN localization (like, close impossible to translate). Spoilers ahead.
Ok so currently JP fandom is in chaos (in an interestingly funny way) because of the revelation about Titania in Oberon’s material book. It’s impossible to tell in EN, but in JP Oberon usually uses katakana form of ‘you’ キミ (kimi) for general use. But then there also are very rare moment where he uses hiragana form of ‘you’ きみ (kimi). The time he was seen using きみ is when he was apologizing to Titania as he fell after MC-Castoria-Mashu defeated him—AND when he got summoned by MC, sighed while saying “That’s just the kind of person ‘you’ are”.
Based from this information, きみ was probably for Titania or someone special to him as he used it for MC as well. It was ongoing theory for about 2 years since his release. Before the release of material book, ppl be like so is MC the Titania??? What’s up with the use of hiragana of ‘you’ きみ (kimi)?
And then BOOM. Material book revealed it simple that Oberon uses きみ only for Titania. The fact that he uses きみ for MC. Yeah.
And the fun thing about the reveal from material book is that the timing overlaps with Summer event and it changed the whole perspective about Oberon and MC. In the event, it’s really easy to see how much Oberon likes and cares for MC by a lot that it shocked a lot of fans tbh coz we all thought that Oberon was more bitter, but nope, he is so sweet to MC.
I honestly thought that Titania was combination of Blanca, Castoria and MC but then I read his valentine, summer event, and got slapped by the material book and wow this man really had it so bad for MC.
Don’t get me started on talking about his valentine and his voice lines in summer event highly implies that he wants to lovers s*icide to bottomless abyss together with MC. Help.
What did Oberon gave to MC as a gift? Void dust. The material book reveals that everything that fell to abyss will eventually turned into dust. High chance implies Oberon gave MC his own corpse as valentine gift lmao.
What is the true meaning from Oberon in valentine when he said to call him when MC has no allies by their side? Material book reveals that ‘to call him when MC is in the situation where only death awaits them. Oberon will follow them as well’.
What did Oberon said to MC in his dark ver. summer outfit? “Wanna aim together towards the end of endless abyss?”
🫡 from all this information I conclude that this man wants to lovers s*icide with MC to the endless abyss for forever until they turn to dust together.
I'm torn cause I wish they would show more of Oberon's gross inhuman monstrous side and I don't want them to make him more 'palatable' the whole POINT is that the cute handsome prince charming is just a mask he wears to hide all the anger and hatred bubbling inside of him, I don't want that to be the main selling point of Oberon.
But on the other hand leaning into the lie seems like something he would do, whether it's to "blend in" better or to be something he thinks is more "lovable" to Guda, but even then, I'd rather see more of his stubborn tsundere side where he's still very bitter about how deeply he's fallen for his enemy, he still has a chip on his shoulder that Guda's the one protecting the world he so badly wants to destroy, even if Guda has become his 'Titania' in one sense it's at best a temporary and frustrating thing where they're hurtling towards their own destruction, and one day the best 'happy ending' they can hope for is for Oberon to mercy-kill them in their final moments and send them to the Abyss together. Or at worst, a part of Oberon can never fully accept Guda as Titania, because of his curse, or because he's just that stubborn, or because no real person could ever measure up to his ideal. And so their relationship will always be kind of messy and with this tension to it where they can never really be the happy couple without some kind of struggle. Guda struggling to understand Oberon and Oberon struggling to accept his feelings for Guda.
Anyway I just hope that if we do get more Oberon content before the inevitable EOS of this game we get to see that he's still monstrous and messy and complicated because I love that about him. I got the artbook because there's so much gorgeous stuff in there for his outfits but also his designs that include him looking more inhuman and monstrous and I hope we get some of that into the game.
#oberon#fate series#i should make my own post with the actual details like ss but im too lazy#should make use of japanese skill for this#FYI: Oberon and Guda gets along so well in summer event to the point that that the fandom is so baffled#the details….fuck….#my brain exploded just reading it#summer experience be like: OBERON WTF??? WERE U FEELING THAT HARD FOR GUDA????#and what’s insane is that Guda is being tsundere to Oberon??????#i cannot believe summer event revealed that guda is the tsundere while oberon is the DERE DERE#and oberon basically showing off how guda only speak their true feelings to him that they need to try speak their true feelings to others#OBERON YOUR CONFIDENCE#WOW#feels like playing otome/reading shoujo but then material book + summer outfit lines reminding me how oberon can be inhumane

Summary of what Oberon has done this Summer 8 (with Obeguda delusion):
Get abs (to impress Guda)
Steal Castoria's initial swimsuit so he wore the parka while Arcas got the one she had now
"Aren't you too loved by troublesome things?"
Trigger red text Guda twice
Bribed with Soda Ice bought from shop (AA gives you the Stare)
Appear out of nowhere and give advice (like 3-4 times),
Easily bypassing Morgan's barriers ahead of time for Guda
"Why don't you be a little more honest to everyone? Other than me of course."
"I've never told you my real thoughts to you before." "uwa-"
Telling Guda himself to evacuate from the typhoon
Calling Gudako indirectly as cute in her swimsuit
Referencing Mafia Kajita's video about the Making of Kingdom of Twilight doujinshi while doing fun facts about doujin printing
Got bribed with Blue Hawaii Melon Cream soda (Spoilers: There's no melon in it)
Dub one of the dogs for Bakin's play as one of the villains
Warn Guda and friends again about the situation (reveals his fluffy-messy-jealous and blushing sprite after Guda tells him that Dantes was easier to understand)
The whole three Cernys appearing is accidentally his fault
Gets called ✝️Dark Spirit King✝️ after encountering a local spirit dragonfly
Literally sleepy in the mornings (dragon trait)
Can't swim. Will fucking drown.
Would rather watch Guda having fun at the waters
Reading "Together with Oberon" doujin....
Telling Guda they look better in their swimsuit than combat mystic code
Literally marriage proposal to Guda
"Unbelievable, you've chased even after this side of me? Don't you know that nothing good comes out of being together with a liar? If you did and still went with this, then you're hopeless. Then, do you want to aim for the nonexistent bottom of the abyss together?"

Ryoji calls FEMC daiji na hito 大事な人 (important/precious person) or mentions that FEMC is dear/important to him not only as Pharos or when later his Fortune s-link is over but also several times during his s-link.
Interestingly Aigis when she sees Yuu Narukami in Arena mentions his similarity to her important person (P3 MC) who she refers to as taisetsu na hito 大切な人(important/precious person).
Daiji na hito and taisetsu na hito are often equated since the meaning is pretty much the same. I think it’s kinda interesting that this similarity regarding nicknames exists.

Was looking at Fate trivia and found out that Kintoki was supposed to be in Fate/Apocrypha but got axe because he was too goodly to go along with Amakusa’s plan and would have surely rebel against the Red side (Fran was already settled for the Black side so only the berserker spot for the Red side was open)
This made me think about Kintoki’s kindness vs Karna’s kindness. Because Karna, despite being another undeniably nice guy, did not rebel against Amakusa.
They’re both GOOD BOYS but Karna’s kindness is defined by his belief that everything is “natural”, a belief born from his separation from human society. Karna was willing to go along with Amakusa’s questionable orders such as attacking Jeanne, a neutral party, out of loyalty for his master whom he never met because it’s natural to follow your master’s orders. Karna’s kindness is based on helping individuals. He is willing to help random people he meets at a drop of a hat, but because his sense of goodness is separated from human social rules, his kindness can (and often does) lead to him fighting against the “good guys” to help the people he holds dear. We see this in his original legend with his friend Duryodhana, in F/A with his master, and in Fate/Extra CCC with Jinako. Take these lines from CCC (among my favorite lines from that game):
Karna : …If that’s your order, I will obey. By the tyranny of my spear, Hakuno Kishinami will be burnt away to nothing.
Karna : If you declare that the dark flame within you will not vanish until it burns you up with it, Jinako, then I will be the shroud that guards you from the wind and rain.
In this scene Karna goes along with his master Jinako’s self-destructive tendencies and fights against the main character out of love and loyalty to Jinako. He knows that Jinako is in the wrong (“by the tyranny of my spear”), but he will help her, come what may, even if it will lead to her own destruction, because she needs help.
Karna’s kindness, for better or for worst, is separated from human morality.
Kintoki’s kindness, on the other hand, is influenced by his immersion into human society. He was born outside of human society as the son of a dragon god and a human-eating hag and then raised by monkeys, but he actively makes himself human by immersing himself into human culture. Back when he was alive, he watched plays and read poetry not because he liked these activities but because they were the hottest (human) trends. In the modern day, he covered himself in (what he thinks) is the newest (human) fashion. Kintoki is an inhuman being that becomes human by infusing human culture into himself. Naturally, his sense of right and wrong is also colored by human society’s sense of justice. Kintoki would have never gone along with Amakusa’s command to attack Jeanne in F/A because it’s just wrong to attack someone who means you no harm. That’s basic (human) decency.
Kintoki’s kindness is colored to by his active desire to be “human”. In the Setsubun event in FGO, it’s stated that he and Shuten understand each other better than anyone else. He couldn’t have understood her so well if he was fully human. That event revolves around the idea of humans and oni and how one must choose whether to be human or oni. Kintoki chooses to be human. He states that he has to fight and kill Shuten because she is a true oni and he swore to protect humans from her kind. Note how he phrased it. He doesn’t fight oni because he thinks they’re evil monsters. He kills oni because he promised to protect humans. In a flashback, he has to remind himself of people who were hurt by oni to remind himself that oni are creatures that hurt humans and therefore they must be killed. Kintoki’s origin is inhuman but he chooses to be human, therefore he must actively remind himself to side with humans and follow the rules of human society. His kindness is influenced by his belief that humans, as a group, as a society, should be protected. He may not be smart enough to have deep reflections on human morality, but in the osmosis process of becoming human, he picked up the basics of human decency and manners and he lives by them.
Karna is willing to oppose and hurt innocent/good people to help his loved ones while Kintoki has to kill the one he loves because he swore to protect humans. They are both undeniably good people, but their individual form of kindness, born out of their opposite connections with humanity, requires them to pick sides. It’s impossible to be kind to everyone equally. At some point you have to pick a side. That’s something Guda learns throughout the Lostbelts and that’s something Karna and Kintoki embody.
