"That's your prize, that's your prize," and its just eternal youth and a lifetimes worth of loneliness, nightmares, and regret.
Hey, so...y'all remember when this song was trending everywhere on TikTok a hot minute ago and everyone knew it? ...yeah, haha...I made this then. Why am I posting it now, and on here, you ask? Cause I leave things in my drafts and get so busy with work and writing that I forget about them until weeks, or even sometimes months, later, and I missed my opportunity to make Fable famous on tt again, so i figured you guys could enjoy the rotten fruits of my expired labour. Anyway, like I said, this is outdated asf, but I was genuinely proud of it and think it ended up looking pretty cool, and I still think of Reaver every time I hear the song, so hopefully yall will forgive me for my appalling transgressions and enjoy my first real exploit into digital collages lmaoo.

Sometimes I sketch pre-trauma and pirate Reaver for my own mental health and these two actually came out alright. Pirate Reaver is my all time favourite and I like to imagen him using a bow before guns were a thing. Also saw someone HC him with naturally curly hair and I 100% agree because it's so much easier to draw.

if u voted for trump, I mean this in the most disrespectful way possible, I do not want anything to do with you. Not only did you vote against basic human rights and equality, you decided rascism, homophobia, islamophobia, transphobia & misogynistic behavior wasn't a deal breaker. i do not want your follow or support ! thank you.

I feel as though we as a community don't talk about Reaver's fear of death enough. This man was so afraid of getting old and dying that he went out seeking, (or at the very least stumbled upon and chose to interact with), an ancient demon cult that could grant him the immortality he so desperately wished for. He had no way of knowing the real consequence of his actions, says so himself in his diary that he had no intentions of Oakvale paying the price for his choice, but they still did. And he has to live with that.
He chooses to live with that regret, and continues to choose suffering from nightmares every night, constantly looking over his shoulder, being scared of every shadow and non-lit room, and playing an annual game of chess with a court of shadows where he repeats the same choice that got him into this mess in the first place over and over again instead of just accepting that he's human and can die like everyone else. Why is he so damn afraid of dying? Obviously, death is a common fear, but to the extent that it is for Reaver? No, there's more there. Did he lose someone as a kid? A parent? A grandparent? A sibling? Did he have to sit by someone's bedside, watching as they slowly slipped away? Did he have to watch someone he cared for bleed out and take their last breaths, choosing to carry it all with him for the rest of his too-long life? Or did he just simply want to live for as long as possible, scared of missing out on a future he already gave away, and uneasy over the fact that death is so unknown and permanent? And ofc the mess with Oakvale only served to solidify that fear in both his heart and mind after the fact, as if it wasn't already bad enough. What a vicious cycle.
There is truly so much we don't know about Reaver, especially in regards to his younger days in Oakvale, and it's something I wish was explored more. Though I do think keeping it all lock and key is very on brand for Reaver, and I appreciate the mystery around it. Getting info outta that man must have been like pulling teeth, but more painful...and probably way deadlier. Lmfao.

Listen I just KNOW Sparrow was pissing the preexisting nobility off when they became ruler
I mean first off a former poor person raised in a dweller camp after spending over a year living as a street urchin? Someone who has become a champion of the people by being with the people? Who prefers not to be drapped in the beautiful silks and jewels as the rest of them? Who has drastic changes done to the castle and the gardens they all hang out in? If Sparrow supported Belle they probably hate them for that, and Sparrow is also likely how Reaver got any foothold in Bowerstonian society, I can't imagine the other uber wealthy being keen to welcome a pirate into the fold. Imagine being on of them and hearing that he's got an actual title now and is apart of Sparros advisory team. Non of the actual nobility seem to be, because Walter is implied to have also been on their team and he doesn't seem particularly rich. Also Logan an HOBW? I feel either way you go, a married Sparrow, or a Sparrow thats no married but has children, they'd find a reason to be upset. Be it because the spouse isn't one of them, or because they view the kids as bastards.
And they can't even DO anything, because the reason Sparrows in charge is because enough people do like them, ans also they're like a one person army. The rich are fuming and everyon else is straight vibing

One of my favorite headcanons that I have is that Reaver was a momma's boy before what happened with Oakvale...happened, lmfaoo. I've had it for so long, I genuinely don't know where exactly it came from or how it started, but if it's like any of my other headcanons then it's just purely based on the vibe he gives off, but like I said, it's one of my favorites lmao. I just love the thought of a little Reaver worshipping the ground his mom walks on, it's sweet...and really sad, when you consider what was probably her fate. I also headcanon his dad was a deadbeat...no particular reason for that one, I just like my characters to suffer, y'know? Reaver having an easy life was just simply never in the cards for me, I fear, loves-

I know realistically the answer is that Williams line spread out enough to have surviving branches post the original spire incident, but its really funny to imagine that afterwards my guy Willy went "well damm, guess I gotta fuck to rebuild my bloodline ://"

Did what Theresa said when you would select Reaver's fate card in the menu of Fable 2 stick with anyone else the way it stuck with me, or am I simply insane? Cause for some reason, I think of it on a daily basis. "I see choked weeds and water," "He lies just out of reach." The description, as well; "The Thief is age, which robs us of our strength and looks. -It is the worst in all of us. It is what we must all fear." Like?! Something about the word choice, something about the tone of voice Theresa takes on, something about the silence after, something about his card image being a mirror with blood and a rose, something something something. It all gets me. It all haunts me to this very day, over a decade later. Its just…something. I hope whoever is responsible for it has cool pillows on both sides at night.

The complexity of love
Abigail and John has, as we all know, had a very rocky run leading up to the fairly happy family we know them as in 1911 with John giving up everything he had to save them, and sadly that rocky run was majorily John's fault. (Dont worry this wont just be me bashing in Johns head with a bat)
Throughout the first few chapters we can see Abigail desperately try to get John to put in an effort, if not with her, at least with their son, growing up as an orphan she most likely knew how much it sucked missing parental love, and wishing the best for her boy.
While Abigail does show aggression, such as calling John a fool and hitting him, it isn't without reason.
Abigail is heavily reliant on John due to the lack of rights women had back then, and also had in the gang. Being one of the only people in the entire camp not to do crime or working any job that earns her more than just a space in a tent and food on the table, she needs someone else to help her as she has no income. This is most notable when she reluctantly asks Arthur for five dollars because she is literally unable to clothe her son. Those five dollars should be coming from John, the camp does not give more than food (barely, she can several times be heard complaining that Jack is hungry) and shelter, clothing is not included in that, nor is any type of entertainment like fishing equipment or books.
It is also quite clear that Abigail cares for John, deeply, she is constantly checking up on him, telling him to rest, to be careful and take care of himself, while he just shuts her down "being in the sun is good for me, however talking is not so much." There is also when Molly comes to her for advice and Abigail admits to unfortunately relating to Molly and Dutch's relationship, being reliant on a man who does not want you, yet still loving them.
And it isn't just with Abigail, who is sacrifing her own love and feelings to try to give her son a father, that John is neglective, it is also with his son whom he is so absent with that it brought Jack to tears.
Whether or not John actually doesn't believe Jack to be his, it mostly seems like a dodge of responsibilites but to an extreme that it feels like more. John has been with the gang since he was twelve, that is ten years of his life that he had spent with the gang, not a day without them when he suddenly runs off because he has a son? He is willing to give up everything because of a child? While it is a huge responsibility, he has been taught from the day he entered the gang that being together is strength, being alone is weakness.
I doubt it was just the pressure put on him that led him to neglect Jack.
John and Abigail's relationship actually has several parallels to John's own parents, his mother being a prositute and his father being her "well I don't know what he was to her," similarly to how John doesn’t exactly know what he and Abigail are. Some sees them as nothing while others sees them as married.
When it comes to the one parent that John did have left, his father, he likely didn't have much of a good relationship with, telling Jack that he "wasn't missing out on much" when he said he wanted to meet John's pa, who died and left John to fend for himself.
John can also often be heard saying "I don't know much about fathering!" that seemingly being his biggest worry when it comes to his family. Him being afraid of repeating his own father's mistakes doesn't seem like the biggest reach to me, do I think it is the biggest cause? No, I do think it is the big new responsibility, but I do think that fear was laying somewhere underneath it.
I do also think that in late chapter 3/early chapter 4 that while he was trying so hard not to become his father, he had become his father, being negletant and a poor father. That realisation together with the fear of loosing the one family that seemed to stick while the other (the gang) crumbled, could have been what kicked him into action.
John being an overly good father in chapter 4-6 only for him to loose that again in the time between chapter 6 and 1907, I would count as John having tried to overly compensate in 1899 for being a terrible father for all those years, but when everything calmed down he kind of fell back into his poor habits.
Abigail had for years desperately tried to get a regular life, to get a home and a safe place for her family but John keeps ruining it so she leaves (full post on that here). That was once again the kick John needed, suddenly realising he is back in 1899, completely failing his family and being a poor father and husband.
In 1911 the family has had their life for four years, growing their ranch, harvesting, taming and selling horses and other farm animals and they grow close, except for Jack and John. Jack is not at all that close to John, worried about getting close to him because he might leave again. Those times that John thought he was doing the right thing, Jack thought he was being left behind and that is understandable.
John "left" when Abigail was being kidnapped in 1899, he was not there, he kept constantly leaving during the timeskip, always coming home with another mess for them to flee, he was missing when Abigail and Jack left, he was missing when he went hunting for Micah and then he was missing once again when out killing Javier, Bill and Dutch. He was never a reliable person for Jack who constantly had to care for his mom on his own.
Jack was very much kept in the blind about a lot of things, literally asking John if he is a murderer, not completely knowing, so clearly what John did while gone was not something Jack was told. Thus he was left in this constant battle between "trust him, he is here now" and "don't trust him, he will leave soon," leading to a very complicated on and off relationship.

Sparrow & Lucien, and the HoBW & Logan are such parallels, it kills me The powerlessness stemming from Sparrow & Lucien's grief molded them into who they are... and they were both steered onto this path due to Theresa's desire for the Spire. Both were made into pawns- Sparrow only coming into the picture when Lucien spiraled out of Theresa's control. But she used the same tactics on Sparrow that she did on Lucien, using their grief in order to build them up again. but this time, she made sure for herself that this one worked out. Theresa and Lucien both "reached for the gun", but I'll get into that another time. Both turned into killing machines as they grew, believing whatever the cost was it'll have been worth it. For once, vengeance. The other, power. Sparrow's life meant more than their pain, but Lucien was driven mad by the promise of rewriting fate. Perhaps it's good Sparrow couldn't see past their grief long enough to desire more than what they lost. Maybe it's good that some part of their innocence lingered. In the end, Sparrow's life becomes dictated by how they changed the world. the lives they took, the lives they saved, and the power they unknowingly put in the hands of Theresa. they built the spire, they used it, and the completed what Lucien set out to do. They live on to unite Albion, and take it under their wings as they move into Castle Fairfax. The beginning of their story, and the beginning of the next hero's. They're so far in with Theresa's teachings, they can't help but take her words to heart about how their kid is the future. Lucien's madness was not the first, and it certainly isn't the last. The Spire, his life's work, a monument to the power of insanity. The drive, the dedication, and the fatal flaws that consume heroes. Theresa herself knew the cost to build it, and went ahead with her plans for the Spire. She is aware of the path ahead, but only looks towards it's destination. She went on to influence Logan after his encounter with the darkness, and continued the cycle when he no longer served his purpose. He spiraled out of her control, and she used this for the HoBW to continue the journey. Exploiting his madness, public outcry, and the stability of a nation to get the best outcome. Their lives did not matter in comparison to the fate of Albion. The tyrant and the hero. A tale as old as time. An effective formula that's worked for centuries. Theresa believed herself to be the only one who could guide Albion's fate as it needed... even when she was the one to invent the problems that required heroes. Tyranny, darkness, corruption... stemming from the chase for power. To her credit- she's done a decent job at guiding heroes over the years. She knows where the problems are, and how to get people to solve them... But she's been blind to her actions for so long. Looking solely towards the future, she's never reflected on the past. When did tears fall from her eyes? When did she realize the cost of her actions? When did she realize her role in these great hero tales? When did she become the tyrant in the tower, needing to find one last hero to stop this corruption- once and for all? I used to hate her sacrifice at the end of The Journey... but now I think it makes sense. She's reached the end of her reign. The corruption exists, so long as a corrupter exists. With her and the Spire destroyed, the pain caused in its wake goes down with it. A new era of Albion is born.

Hello I have once again upset myself thinking about Logan an the effect Aurora had on him and his relationships.
Walter is a father figure to him and HOBW and their relationship is in TATTERS, and as far as canon shows, it's never mended.
Does Logan believe the man who raised his sibling and took care of him after Sparrows death died hating him? Does he believe Walter only saws the bad in him? Does it have any impact on his decision to go into his self-imposed exile? Does he regret not telling Walter about what happened to him in Aurora soonee??
Did he and Walter ever have a chance to reconcile, to speak of what happened to them on their respective trips to Aurora? Did he ever express regret for Logan feeling as if he couldn't speak of what happened to him?
Did Walter ever embrace Logan as one of his own again, or did they stay away because of their history?
