Our 2D Animation II class project was to rotoscope a small portion of a dance only using TvPaint. Each student brought a unique style and imaginative approach. Edited all together, the sum is greater than its parts.
To bring a character to life, it is necessary to imbue each single drawing of the figure with an attitude that reflects what he or she is feeling or thinking or trying to do. No scene is better than the sum total of all its drawings. Life must be in every drawing. There should be no drawings that merely move the character from one spot to the next. In other words, the life and vitality comes not from movement or timing alone -- but from that ability to make the single drawing come alive.
Hi FOLKS! Check it out; Here’s some storyboard drawings I did for SpongeBob episode “Stuck on the Roof” (Supervised by the GREAT Sherm Cohen), I had to come up with gags, fun ideas and such… most of them ended up in the final version. I hope you like’em :)

Voici quelques dessins/idées que j’ai créés pour le “board” de “Stuck on the Roof“, des gags de construction et de la danse. Rien de moins l’fun!
As an animator, you must be a student of storytelling history. From folklore, to children’s stories, to classic and modern films — there are a great many things to inspire you to create your own world.
Here’s an appreciation video of the many inspirations of Over the Garden Wall.
