Hitchcock’s Rear Window (1954): The Limited Perspective of the Voyeur
Alfred Hitchcock’s 1954 Rear Window shows us his masterful use of controlling information to create very deep suspense in the audience. James Stewart plays L.B. Jefferies, who is a photographer unfotunately uses a wheelchair in his apartment as his broken leg heals. He found out that his worlds perception turned into a limited  apartment complex which stays outside of his window. The summer days passes so slowly and the inevitable heat causes theresidents of Jefferies’ complex to open their windows and shows the story of their lives to Jefferies as he watches unseen from his rear window.
Each window opens a unique life to Jefferies; he also gives the characters titles as he follows their lives. There is Miss Torso, a beautiful dancer, Miss Lonely Hearts, a loveless bachelorette, a young couple, a songwriter and most notably a salesman living with his wife. Jefferies shares the stories he observes with his girlfriend, Lisa, played by Grace Kelly. Jefferies, Lisa and the house nurse, Thelma, find themselves be disgusted in Jefferies speculations regarding a murder plot which includes the salesman, Lars Thorwald, and his wife.
This movie makes the audience think about the perspective and should behave respectfully to the other persons private lives.
as you can see on the downside, there is a brief trailer about the movie.

Voyage de Mans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon)
It ıs the fırst scıence fiction story in the history of cinematography. It was a 14 minute masterpiece (nearly one reel in length (about 251 meter)),  and created by imaginative French director and magician Georges Melies. It was some kind of a different and unique version of the Jules Verne story. The silent film's plot is  an ıntelligent scientist criticizing the conservative scientific community of its time when he decided to go to the moon. It was inspired by Jules Verne's From the Earth to the Moon  and G. Wells First Men in the Moon.
This film was made on an astronomical budget for the time of 10,000 Francs it was surely risky, but worthwhile since it was hugely successful. Its popularity opened the road of illegally copieing the film like released under others names, and pirated. You can see down there a brief scene from the movie when travellers rocket hıts to the moon.

CAMERA OBSCURA
youtube
Camera obscura is the first device which have similar sides to a basic camera. It ıs used by mainly painters to help their artworks about scenery when they are producing it. Light travels in a straight line and when some of the rays reflected from a bright subject pass through a small hole in thin material they do not scatter but cross and reform as an upside down image on a flat surface held parallel to the hole. This device basically turns and transfers a view into a dark room and the image will be upside down. painter can paint his or her artworks by looking that reflection in the dark room. this device is accepted like the first image capturing device by the historians and used by a lot of artists and scientists. It ıs also very easy to make our own Camera Obscura. In that video a guy explains how to make one and in that making steps we can learn the devices working process.

                     postmodernism and difference between modernism
Postmodernism actually hard to define and telling its different sides from other art movements is difficult because that definition would violate the postmodernist premise which includes no definite terms, boundaries, or absolute truths exist. But despite all of that, I am going to make some definitions. First of all postmodernist view of the world is sickened from the modernists outdated lifestyle which made a lot of tall walls around their strict rules and faceless bureaucracies. Postmodernists thinks that, western world and within them, modernists should move beyond their primitiveness of ancient traditional though and practices and must try to use some different cultural elements in their art not only western art and specialties will be used in art.
Postmodernist people’s concerns about modernists are, for example being wasteful about nature and workforce. And they sacrifice the Earth’s resources while at the same time they not try to serve the needs of population and not doing anything useful. And also, there are a lot of different ways to make art or build up something with the use of less workforce and resources and they don’t use that way either. Postmodernists believe that the western worlds precious freedom and prosperity is actually not more than empty promises and not fulfill the needs of humanity.
Postmodernist art movement have shown himself in a lot of different art areas. There is a video which ı shared upwards, it tells us some facts about postmodernism in a brief way.

Women in History of Art
In art society women is objects of desre and objects of the male gaze for a long time. But it seems that this situation is changing. Woman is taking a much bigger role in art society in our modern era. but before that, many art historians has been written that the majority artists were men. in 1971 Linda Nochilin had a question about that asumption “ Why have there been no great women artists?” and come up with a question “because they were deprived of certain rights and privileges given to men”
of course there are a lot of different women artists in history but they have been forgotten or ignored by the art society. This should be changed and in 1980 women artists began to change that perception. they want to change the fact that creating art is shouldnt be a male dominated field.
this video explans the womens effort for taking bigger role in art with the help of some groups like Gorilla Girls.  and criticize that long term idea about art is a men dominated field

The Persistence of Memory and Surrealısm
Surrealısm is a cultural movement which began in france at early 1920s. Its a heterogenous art movement with no stylistic unity. and it also uses different and extraordinary one to create a deep meaning in their artworks. and that movement was practised by a lot of different types of artists. One of them is Salvador Dali. He is one of the most famous sürrealist artist in history. Nearly all of his artworks are disfunctioned basic objects and not quite in their real World shape. At first glance these artworks seems illogical but you need to look at them deeply and examine them carefully to get multiple meanings. in that video which ı have linked it previously, demostrates Salvador Dali briefly.

The Skat Players by Otto Dix
It is one of the most famous painting of the expressionist painter Otto dix and was painted after the world war one era. New Objectivity can be visible at this painting and this art movement ended with the beginning of the Hitler regime. The painting portraits three wounded veterans playing cards around a circular table. all of the veterans have some disfigured organs and have implements to help them live.
Wounded and disfigured soldiers were pretty common on post war Germany.   The soldier on the right-hand side of the painting is wearing a jacket that was made out of the thick woven paper which was used in germany after ww1 due to the lack of supply materials.
Otto Dix demonstrates the disgust he felt towards the effects of the war on his country. He is also fought in that war in a posetion of maschine gun fighter. after his return from the war he said that he have some nightmares about the wars crucial side.

Humanitarian Side of the Art
Probably the biggest protest in art  to the violence is Picasso’s Guernica painting. İt is showing the after affects of bombing civil people by Nazi German and spain during the civil war in Spain. I t shows us the fact that, wars painfull affect on innocent peoples. Picasso put some individual characters on that painting to show us this demolution. on the left side, there is a mother who holds probably his dead baby.in the middle multiple humans lying under some rubble. a guy is holding a candle to the room like space. It give meanings like showing the true, enlightning the consequences. and on the right side there is a guy in a some kind of home like place which is burning and giving pain to the resident. to sum up, it is a cubic painting with different perspectives within the different meanings and one of the most famous work of art which shows the social functions of art.
