I’m eating 1200 kcal until Friday when I increase to 1500 kcal. I would rather lose weight and eventually weigh 42 kg or something, but the strict foster home I live in will prevent me from exercising and using the internet (two extremely enjoyable activities) if I lose weight. At my height, 48-52 kg is a healthy compromise between my eating disorder and the overprotective kid’s home that want me to recover (plus, I won’t be as hungry). In the near future I plan on eating 1600 kcal a day but exercising and eating loads of protein so I build muscle and my metabolism speeds up. I even risk another Deprivation of Liberty order if I am extremely underweight.

What my old shitty eating habits were like as a former vegan
Breakfast
40g breakfast cereal, often corn flakes or fruit loops (Where I went wrong: Bran cereal instead as it is very high in fibre). 154 kcal.
100ml unsweetened almond milk (Where I went wrong: Using the smallest amount of the lowest calorie milk is not a good idea. To have enough protein but not too much calories, use 200ml unsweetened soy milk). 13 kcal.
200ml orange juice, optional (Where I went wrong: Always drink orange juice or eat an orange with your breakfast as it will add vitamins and prevent you from feeling too hungry. Use sugar-free orange juice to save calories). 85 kcal.
Lunch
2 slices low-calorie bread (Where I went wrong: Low-calorie bread is too insubstantial. Eat rice instead). 100 kcal.
50g low-fat hummus (Where I went wrong: Eat full-fat foods rather than reduced-fat foods as dietary fat is good for you and wards off hunger. If you are not a vegan, put meat or cheese in your sandwich to add protein).
2 rice cakes (Where I went wrong: Rice cakes are low in fibre, protein and healthy fat. Replace with fruit or nuts). 86 kcal.
Dinner
Tesco meal deal vegetable sushi (Where I went wrong: Sushi is low in protein and not very substantial. Eat meals with carbohydrates, fat and protein). 186 kcal.
Snacks
2 fig rolls (Where I went wrong: Biscuits are not very nutritious. Replace with fruit). 130 kcal.
Apple (Where I went wrong: I did nothing wrong. Apples are good for you). 75 kcal.
I also meticulously weighed pre-portioned food such as rice cakes or slices or bread but now I never do that because I know the nutrition label can’t lie. I also weighed fruits and vegetables but now I don’t bother because they are very low in calories - I only weigh high-calorie foods such as cereal and peanut butter. I also included the calories in diet coke, chewing gum and even green tea, but now I don’t because the calories are negligible. At the time, I wasn’t aware that I was vegan because of my eating disorder.

I like the numbers 15 and 18 but not 16 and 17. I am torn between wanting to be BMI 15.7 and 18.3 but I don’t want to be in between. I often want a certain BMI only because the number sounds good.

More people weigh less than 100 lbs than you think. A lot of people weigh less than 100 lbs but they look thin (but not bony and emaciated) and healthy. Just ask a skinny person under 5’9” how much they weigh and you’ll be very surprised. When most people, especially those who are classed as overweight, think of someone weighing less than 100 lbs, they think of someone who looks very thin and bony. But they’re wrong.

What if I get so hungry that not even eating fat, fibre and protein will help? What if I get so hungry that I’m going to eat anyway even though I’ve just brushed my teeth? What if I don’t lose weight on 1200 kcal so I’m cursed with being painfully hungry most of the time and missing out on my favourite foods but not losing weight? What if I’m a size 10 and look chubby and curvy by the time I gain to a BMI of 18.3?

I'm painfully hungry (vent)
It’s my first day of restricting to 1200. I feel really, really hungry because I’ve done like 12,000 steps today. I know I shouldn’t exercise to excess when on a diet, but today I had no choice. On my daily walk, I was stranded in the town so done a lot more steps walking back and forth and even bumming £5 for bus fares from a stranger (that I didn’t spend). Then I went to my family’s house, and my mum dropped me off at a skatepark where I tried learning how to skateboard (but I’m a complete newbie) but was constantly bullied by transphobic 12-year-olds riding mountain bikes and wearing Nike and they would never leave me alone. Then I walked home. Then I went to the Range and Asda with my brother and mother. I bought 2 boxes of fruit (one pineapple, and one apples and grapes with cheese) that both expire today, as well as WeightWatchers chilli con carne and potato wedges ready meal that I will eat for dinner tonight but I am anxious it won’t fill me up because the carbohydrates are potato wedges, not rice. I don’t want a night like the 16 April 2022. I remember that night and how painful it was to go to bed extremely hungry and stay awake much later than usual. Right now I’ve just ate a 5-calorie slush puppy, and drinking water and Pukka night time berry. At 4pm I had a sugar-free Red Bull and half a cigarette, and I was only moderately hungry then, but now I am beyond hungry. Any advice on how to prevent a binge? I don’t want to binge on the first day of my diet. I don’t want to get into the habit of trying to restrict to 1200 but then binging in the evening every single day otherwise I will get fat quickly.

The only things holding me back are extreme hunger (but I can tell myself that hunger means it's working and I will lose weight), slow metabolism, sleeping less due to eating less (sleep is important, I love to wake up at 11am), and being on the medication olanzapine.
