Okay but guys, the scene where Jayce and Vik hug and Viktor looks like THIS

This is NOT longing, not afffection --- this is resignation. This is a realization and immediate acceptance of "oh, this isnt important to me anymore. He cares so much and I did, too, in some far away past, but I dont reciprocate this anymore."

His return of the hug is indulgence, because its the appropriate thing to do, but it is not with any warmth. His priorities are forever altered. He cant even feel Jayce's warmth when he hugs him.

This is removed PITY.

GOD NOW HES IN ALL BLACK

One thing really superb throughout Arcane is that Jayce & Viktor start the series with a similar amount of black/grey/white on their outfits but as the season goes on Jayce becomes more and more covered in white while Viktor adds black pieces to himself (including his limbs, which he hides) which makes for a clean, subtle, and really effective way of showing contrast between their characters – even Viktor’s vest is eventually grayer in tone while Jayce’s shirt gains white sleeves and he wears white kneepads.

Depending on the scene, different parts of their outfits are emphasized, to really dig in the framing. They’re equals with complimentary traits; started at the same uniform, but with different tie colors; Viktor eventually takes on Jayce’s tie, his crutch is emblazoned with the colors of house Talis (red, gold, Jayce is shown working on a similar design at the forge) The white of Viktor’s tie transfers to the brightness of Jayce’s coat, now fitting for the Man of Progress, while Viktor recedes further into the shadows.

And something else that’s really sweet is that when they have their heart-to-heart during act 3…

The sun shines directly over them, making them look like a matched set once again.

the fact that he didn’t at least go to viktor’s side as he was dying fully solidifies that either he is being controlled (when vik and sky said they heard another voice within (?) him) or the time loop theory is correct and he can’t stand watching him die (again?)

Jayce killed him. All Viktor had with him was the the blanket he gave him, the crutch he made for him, and the gear from that night when Viktor saved Jayce from jumping off that ledge and helped him make his dream possible. And Jayce shot him through the chest and ran away.

Every now and then some discourse pops up around a queer ship consisting of a pair of fictional characters who are not blood related, but refer to themselves as "brothers" or "sisters," or are in some way, according to the fandom, "sibling-coded."

Every time I see that discourse, all I can think about are the very real queer men I once knew, who, before their deaths, lived their lives posing as "stepbrothers." The only way to avoid suspicion for being two older unmarried men living together in a rural conservative area was to pretend they were from the same family, even though the truth was that they were lovers.

They were never out in life. Their relationship was a strict secret to nearly everyone. They never knew that I knew, and sometimes it fucks me up inside that they never got to come out to me. It fucks me up that they had to hide behind a fake "brotherly" relationship for their own safety. It fucks me up to look at a gravestone that reads "beloved brother" and know what it really means, and what it could have said if they'd lived under different circumstances.

In another world, they could have been husbands, but they never had the opportunity. The world will remember them as brothers, because, even in death, that is what was safest.

The freedom to declare queer love openly is something that not everyone has. And I think more people could stand to remember that.

Viktor just went from being some guy to my all time favourite Arcane character. Funniest possible direction they could’ve gone with him. Every fuck in his mind body soul was spent and gone when he emerged from that goop. Woke up purple from a near death experience and immediately dumped his situationship, quit his job, fucked off to the undercity wearing nothing but a blanket and then became the second coming of Christ on accident. King of protecting his peace. Imagine being that guy who tried to shank him. Some Czech twink with dick and balls hanging out starts glowing and then magically cleanses the poison from your body. I’d be on my knees worshipping him too man what a fucked up situation. Someone please get him some trousers
