musings on baeddelism

i don't agree with the common critique of baeddelism, as it relies on a distorted conception of the ideology. for simplicity's sake, let's just define baeddelism as the fusion of transfeminism and radical feminism, which believes transmisogyny is the apex of patriarchy, as it's the clearest shared target between misogyny & queerphobia. most critiques of it come from what's referred to as TMRAs (also transphobic cis women who're upset about not being the center of the world, but ignoring them). the argument begins as the baeddel suggests trans men are agents of misogyny (patriarchy of course fundamentally shapes standards of manhood), who're a sugar-coated bullet, due to rhetoric of experience with misogyny preventing repetition, this paired with a strong distaste for the very relatively privileged cis mainstream feminism leads many leads many baeddels to also dislike most cis women as. this leads TMRAs to the very superficial & bad faith suggestion that we (do keep in mind "baeddel" is a reclaimed slur, which they really shouldn't be using in their tirades) are reskinned TERFs, due to believing there's a bad gender, alternatively TMRAs make the even more absurd suggestion that baeddels believe in AFAB privilege & general AMAB oppression. i think baeddelism's current ebb unfortunate, as it's the highest development of the classical radical feminism's (the era before it was co-opted by the far right) social-constructivism

a marxian analysis of haibane renmei

haibane renmei is my favorite show. it's rather difficult to summarize. a literalist summation would say it's a somewhat rightist (ultra-centralist) commune fantasy in a purgatory. the show displays somewhat of a materialist conception of psychology given it's about learning to lean on relationships in a world of unknowns. Guri seemingly possesses a strange isolationist ethnocracy economy, with a mix of state capitalist & socialist characteristics, without a clear state or bourgeoisie (although it visually resembles the market form). ABe states the show is his religious views, displaying an existentialist agnosticism. the setting oddly resembles early versions of the myth of the Garden of Eden. the haibane can easily be interpreted as a migrant labor force within Glie, seemingly subjected to a state union, taking that perspective i'd suggest it's a utopian socialist fantasy for arts worker in a society who's Left failed to get off the ground. the meta angle to this is it's stated to representation ABe's finding salvation during his student years, this perspective can be interpreted as characterizing the alienation of the student non-class with all their endless dreams, devoid of knowledge of how capitalism's totalitarianism twists the life of labor. it's hard to say the nature of their national question, while Glie exchanges materials with the outside the contact is restricted, with the people possessing a metaphysical fear of breaking the emigration taboo, the odd exception being how the haibane renmei seemingly prepare the isolated haibane to move past beyond the town psychologically. all this can easily be interpreted as metaphor for the alienation of the youth under capitalism & the need for support in that struggle. under modern conditions this is especially poignant due to sharp cost of living-job requirement contradiction. interestingly the show's most visible class struggle is between the haibane & the backwards, arbitrary & totalitarian government

a contribution to the cultural tradition of reiteration of The Joker

villains are the stage-setter of story, so in a sense they're often the hidden main character. it's their historic role to create tension by attacking the hero's weak spot & making preparations to avoid having theirs's attacked. dare i suggest the historic guarantee of heroic victory has killed this. Joker iteration has historically been much like The Punisher, that's to say a self-insert for temptations rooted in alienation. i envision something that pulls upon the central contradiction driving what makes them interesting, by that i mean the violence (conventionally tragic) as comedy contradiction. dare i suggest distraction from this contradiction in favor of the Batman rivalry has led to much wasted potential. Joker as live medium artist is much unexplored. my joker is a self-protagonizing actor, in search of the perfect profound thesis to his comedy. an endeavor in which his false consciousness renders impossible, as his alienation from the concepts which he pulls upon renders him incapable of properly working with them. as Joker slowly civilians into his truly live action theatre, who's message is too abnormal to be understood by them. the serious & moralistic Batman's initial task in Joker stories will be the puzzle of following the arbitrary script (with all their entailed traps) of Joker's radically different mind. the thespian terrorist Joker as an artist who's medium is reality which subjectively beautiful, yet frustratingly devoid of sought brilliant finality to his story. Joker develops an erratic love-hate relationship with Batman, as he becomes the fittingly uncooperative antagonist in the saga Joker wishes to paint. The formula of alarm, obstacles & climatic battle is recognized & who's practicalities are coated in absurd thematic paint. all to have the sought symbolic ending ripped away (of course from the perspective of the audience possessing a much different thesis).

The Artistic Realism Question

the realism-art tension is under-discussed. art's function is to concentratedly tie together concepts in a way the rest of reality doesn't in service to communication. exaggerations & normally foreign elements are introduced allowing otherwise impossible conceptual tie-ins in stylized art. the goal of realist art is simulation of reality, a goal ultimately hyperrealist art can only fully realize with self-destruction
